My girlfriend and I were disappointed this was a thing; watching the sunset by the beach with a cold one would have made my night, and for $300 for two nights I think were entitled to that. Other than that, cozy and great get away for the wknd. Just hide your drinks or youll feel policed while keeping the peace on your vacation. I would not recommend this property. From the moment you arrive, you notice the place is run down, dated, and severely overpriced for the value offered. 1. Dated rooms & poor maintenance The rooms feel stuck in time -- the TV and much of the furniture look to be decades old. Water pressure is poor, and my sister and brother-in-law had no water for their pre-wedding shower. Management did not apologize and instead insisted my brother-in-law "didn't know how to turn on the shower." (He has built bathrooms, so this was simply insulting.) 2. No complimentary towels for water activities Beach towels must be purchased -- none are provided for guests. 3. Breakfast with an unusually limited time window While most hotels offer at least a 2-hour breakfast period (e.g., 8:00-10:00), here it was fixed at 9:30 a.m. only. 4. Restaurant closed The on-site restaurant was closed during our stay. When I asked to see the menu, the items seemed oddly upscale for the setting (like something from a Four Seasons) and were priced accordingly. Guests are left to leave the property for meals. 5. Pool and lake issues The pool, while clean, was unheated. The lake is extremely weedy. Outdoor furniture had no cushions, making it uncomfortable. 6. No daily housekeeping Rooms are not serviced during your stay. 7. Key inconvenience Only one key is issued per room. We were told we could leave it at the desk if needed, but the front desk was rarely staffed, so this wasn't practical. In summary: Despite friendly student staff, the outdated facilities, lack of amenities, and dismissive management make this a poor value for the high prices charged. I would not stay here again or recommend it.

When we landed in Toronto I was worried this place wasn't gonna be all that. I was totally wrong. We drove north 2 hours from Toronto and found this place in Buckhorn. Very tucked away in the woods. Very secluded. The lady at the front desk was very welcoming she actually met us outside. She also plays hostess in the dining area. She was very friendly. The dining area has a chef named Dave this guy was the star of the show. Great cook everything in the pics he made. Everything was delicious also he's not afraid to come out and meet you and have a normal conversation with you. The entire staff makes you feel like you are family. I definitely will be back maybe in the spring. I hear there is some great fishing on the lake. Oh and I can't forget to mention the tea that he made......... I am a tea drinker and the tea he made from the berries from a tree out back was phenomenal.

Thankfully, the person at the front desk was able to apply the group discount for my group. On the day of check-in, I was not allowed to check in early. On a separate occasion, I asked to use their bathroom but was told that there was no bathroom on the main floor that I could use. Front desk was pretty efficient and got me my room keys very quickly. The lobby was quite plush but because it had snowed, it seemed difficult for them to keep the lobby clean and dry. The elevator is slow and the stairs are a bit confusing. The furniture as you come off the elevator is a little sparse and seems out of place, as we had a writing desk and chair when a couch may have suited us better. The corridor seems a little warn. The walls were cement blocks that were painted over in a dull yellow. Our room looked like it hadn't been renovated in forever but it did have a fireplace, which we couldn't get working. There were no instructions either. The beds were not comfortable. There is no view. The outlets didn't want to hold your plugs but for one night, we would manage. We did have a problem with our toilet because it couldn't stop filling the tank. When we called, we were advised that there was no maintenance person onsite on the weekends. So, we got moved to another room. We heard from others that one room leaked into the room below causing a flood. The second room was a lot nicer, it had a king sized bed and a pull out couch. No improvement in comfort though. Television had limited amount of stations, nothing really for children. Still no view. Wing chairs had seat covers on them. The room also had a mini-fridge and a microwave and a 2 person whirlpool, which we didn't use. The bathroom was definitely bigger and much nicer. This room would probably be suited for a romantic weekend for two. The breakfast room only had 3 tables, which wasn't a lot, so, I am not sure how they manage seating there. There is also a washroom on the main floor but it has a mop and a bucket in it. The business centre looked like a nice table with a computer on it. The breakfast was very continental, with toast, oatmeal, etc. So, don't expect a lot but it's enough to get you started. For the most part, I felt that this hotel is run down but the owners were trying very hard to be hoteliers.

Scattered around the property are cabins of varying sizes. But the gems of the resort is what are in these cabins. Flat screen tv? Dishwasher? Giant kitchens? Am I home or am I at a cottage ? This is an oasis from the stresses of city life. With campfires by the beach, scavenger hunts, archery lessons and boat rides around Stoney Lake, this is the kawartha lakes at its best.

The mobile home/cabin was really nice/clean/new and equipped with absolutely everything we needed to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The pool was also a hit with the kids - they loved fishing off the docks as well. The park itself is really clean and maintained very nicely by the family who owns the park. I would definitely recommend this to any family who would like to get away to the lake this summer- its a wonderful destination that we truly enjoyed and will go to again!
