They merged the Lakewood and Aurora bus lines and now the buses are even more crowded than ever before. Every seat on this bus was taken.
    Brian P.

With nine months of experience in riding these buses several times a week, I can safely say that their bus service is terrible, unreliable and not living up to the expectations which riders have. Their scheduling and routing scheme seems to undergo some massive change every few months, and the service only gets worse with each change. If a single cloud rolls across the sky or a single drop of water falls on the road, the bus stops running. These buses are equipped with automatic tire chains (you can clearly see them on the bottom of the bus) so there shouldn't be any excuse for weather related delays, but they happen all the time. Some days, even when the sky is clear and the day is warm, they just randomly cancel routes with no explanation other than "issues beyond our control." Absolutely no notice is provided on their website or anywhere else when service is cancelled. It is up to you to figure out for yourself why your bus never showed up and how you are going to get to work/home on your own. During the time I've been using this service, I've made two complaints against them with the Colorado Public Utilities Comission (PUC). Both complaints discovered violations which resulted in Ramblin' Express being served with a fine. But instead of making their service better so people won't have a reason to complain about them, the company seems to be retaliating by making their service even worse and less convenient. First, they totally eliminated the bus stop that was only about a mile from my home. Now I have to drive much further to get to the next closest stop. And from there I still expect to spend another hour on the bus! Next, they changed their routes so that instead of a bus departing every hour, they only departed every two hours. I had to have my employer adjust my schedule because this made it impossible for me to get to work on time. Well apparently their two hour scheme didn't work out, so they eventually scrapped that and reverted back to the every hour departures. But naturally there is some horrific catch, which is that they merged the Lakewood and Aurora routes into one route! Now, Aurora residents get to spent an extra hour on the bus each way (in addition to the hour it already took), and Lakewood residents have to be crammed in like sardines on an overcrowded bus that is already full before it even gets to our stop. Every time you think this company can't make your commute to work even more nightmarish, they find a way.

The bus only came 1 time to the hotel before the wedding to grab guests, which was not the designated time. Most guests missed the shuttle entirely and had to pay for ubers and hitch rides with each other. The pickup time for the wedding party was completely disregarded, all had to drive. Many guests were not on time for the wedding ceremony because of this and my husband was panicked trying to get in touch with the shuttle service right before the ceremony. This was not a fun surprise on our wedding day (as we're meant to start the ceremony) that the shuttle service is the one messing things up & not getting our guests to the venue as PREplanned and PREdiscussed. Many of the guests had to drive themselves and guests were panicked trying to hitch rides with wedding guests they didn't know just to get there in time. At the end of the night, the shuttle came at the wrong time again. Many of the guests left early for fear the shuttle just wouldn't come back & they'd be left... again. Those that did catch the second shuttle had to wait outside of the wedding venue for 30 minutes in the cold. Pretty sure only about 20 people out of 150 planned guests got to use the shuttle. This was not a cheap purchase and we are extremely disappointed in the service we received/lack of any service here. Hoping the business will refund us some of the money for the lack of service we got.

The buses they use are of the "Greyhound" type with nice comfy seats with storage space for your luggage below. Most people who ride the Skyride line are airport employees. There's always plenty of room and the bus is always right on schedule. There's plenty of free parking with surprised me. Go up to the second level and it's practically empty. I believe you can park there for free for 24 hours. After that, I'm not sure what happens. Maybe a ticket? Again, I don't know. I just know the limit is 24 hours according to signs. You might want to check on that if you were planning on leaving your car there when you for your plane trip. I decided to give the RTD light rail a try. I used their online trip planner to go to Coors field. It actually doesn't get really close to Coors field...but close enough...about .7 miles using the H line. At Nine Mile I used the ticket kiosks. It was fairly user friendly but I couldn't figure out the difference between a "quick pass" and a day pass, except the quick pass was a few dollars more. There is also some kind of card validating system in place but again to apparently validate the ticket you just purchased but nobody knew how to use it or why to use it if you just bought a day pass. The walk to the platform was well lit and pretty clean. You have the option of taking the elevator or walking up a couple flights of stairs. The light rail is very clean and runs on time. There were signs well posted on the windows that masks were required but most people ignored it. Nobody checked our tickets or came on board to enforce the mask policy. Returning from the baseball game we had a pretty long wait. I wish they would run a few more rail cars from downtown where there are sporting events or special events. Anyway, I think 9 Mile is a great as far as public transportation goes. Many other countries have the USA beat hands down when it comes to public transportation, but this is not a bad effort to provide good, affordable, efficient, and dependable public transportation. Bravo Denver RTD!

Devon is such a wonderful tour guide; incredibly accommodating and professional. He was really informative about the area. Stopped to let me get a close look at elk and even a moose. We had a lovely lunch at a cafe at the top of the mountains. I loved the weather, it was 80 when we left, then it rained, then it hailed, then it snowed! On the way back, Devon casually tosses out, "Do you like pie?" WHO doesn't like pie?! He stopped at a little place he knows where a woman in her 80's makes homemade pie (Colorado Cherry Company), but unfortunately, it was closed (so whe had to stop for ice cream further down the road). Devon and I talked throughout the entire tour (which was about 7 hours) about books and our love for animals and nature and our lives; as we drove through some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere. It was one of those few days in my life that I will remember and cherish; when you have a great connection with both nature and with another kindred spirit.

Not only does he respond to every message in a single sentence, often with oddly spaced ellipses (Something like: . . ..What is that?!) but he's RUDE. I told him I needed to have guests picked up at a specific time and the quote he returned didn't factor in the time I would actually need the bus for, just the time until the passengers were picked up (not dropped off). So, I emailed to clarify and he was nasty and said I lied in my email, essentially, instead of recognizing that he had misread the email and miscalculated the hours of service--or even just acknowledging that there was a misunderstanding and moving on with an accurate quote. He just wrote back to tell me I was wrong. Cool. I get that grammar and written communication broadly can be tough and easy to misinterpret, and I'm certainly not perfect myself, but that type of message is really off-putting and sets off alarm bells for me as a potential customer. When I'm clearly trying to be polite and make sure I'm actually booking services for the number of hours I need, which is more money for the business, and the responses that come back are rude and insulting BEFORE I even book, that's a pass for me. I would avoid any company that can't competently communicate from the get-go and puts people down. I've read far too many horror stories of buses breaking down or not showing up, and don't want to risk it when I know already what the level of customer service is from the owner when he's trying to sell me something. I can only imagine what it would be like once he had my payment in hand--or how many ellipses the contract would have!
