First time in Amsterdam. Hard to find good food here. I found Ramen here so it should be good for cold weather. I like their interior. It is in basement but very clean and nice. However, their broth for Soyou ramen is not Japanese style, it is, maybe Chinese style. No wonder all Chinese in their kitchen. I tried a lot of Japanese ramen in US, Japan and South Korea but never had this kind of ramen. This is unique style you can't find anywhere else. If you expect real Japanese style ramen, you will be disappointed. But, better than nothing in Amsterdam. read more

Yum! I'd been craving ramen and this sure hit the spot! The soup was rich and thick and the pork yummy. I asked for less salt at the recommendation of the waitress and was glad I did as I'm not a big salt fan. I will definitely be back. Also for parents with babies - they have a service lift so we were able to bring our pram downstairs(although baby must be removed from pram first), so bonus points for that! Came here while on vacation from LA. Ramen was good! Noodles were a bit harder than what I am used to. Broth was delicious. All bowls are around 13€. Wish I could give this place 0 stars. My friend and I were so excited to eat here after a busy day, and yummy looking menu. However, after ordering we were quickly forgotten by seemingly all staff members. We had ordered two ice teas and a bowl of ramen each and waited at least 20 minutes as the table next to us, who ordered after us, was served. We inquired after the food and drinks with a staff member who said he would check and clearly didn't because more than ten minutes later the table on our other side who had ordered much later was brought their drinks and we still had nothing. It took so long the neighboring table offered us some of their food. After waiting an additional 10-20 minutes, I checked with our waiter who informed us that our order had not gone through. He didn't seem at all apologetic and only offered to put our order as a priority, though after it didn't go through the first time we didn't have much hope for the second and left. As someone who works in the food industry, this customer service was terrible, even when it's busy. No one checked in on us to see what was going on, the first person we inquired with clearly did nothing, and our waiter didn't really seem to care. Would never go back, and would not recommend, so wildly disappointing. read more

Ramen-Ya's service is friendly and attentive. However, it's food leaves a lot to be desired. I got their tonkotsu ramen with soy broth and it was disappointing- flavorless noodles, really poor meat (I'm honestly not even sure what kind of meat it was, but it tasted canned), and a nearly fully-cooked egg. On the plus side, the broth was flavorful and tasty. Definitely on the weak end of ramen restaurants. Very central location. read more

Some of the best ramen I've found in Amsterdam and especially good for being in the city center. Food is delish but the problem is the service. Since they are in the center of Amsterdam they are used to tourists. No tap water, no drinks after a certain hour, get in get out type of thing that I didn't like. Wonderful gem! Exceeded my expectations for ramen in Europe. Waaaay better than the "best" ramen place in Paris. The Hakata salt is absolutely delicious; rich porky creamy and unctuous. The soy marinated egg is perfectly done soft and creamy in the yolk and you can taste the smoky soy marinate on the white. The pork buns are decent. Not momofuku standard but pretty darn good. Will definitely come back and try out the other Ramens on their menu. read more

Not the best ramen in the city but it's very good for the price and location. It's in the middle of the most touristy street of Amsterdam so expect a lot of tourists whenever you go. My man and I lived in Singapore for a few years and most recently in NYC for 2,5 years. And most weekend we'd go on a ramen hunt to find the best ramen in the city. Ganso was the place for us and we were worried that we'd never find an equivalent in Amsterdam. We've tried 4 places before we spotted Ramen Ya on a stroll thru the centre. And guess what... Ramen Ja! They've gone straight to the number 1 spot on our list and there won't be anyone who can take them away from there. I had high expectations after reading other reviews, but was sadly disappointed. I love salt and I thought the ramen was too salty. The place is in a basement and has some cool tables and atmosphere but it was steamy warm in there, and the fans only faced one side of the room. It's a very nice and intimate place. The food is great and well prepared. It's not too expensive and the portion of ramen you get is huge and well stuffed. The soups seem to have much of the same ingredients, but they surprisingly don't taste the same. I don't recommend the Kimchi Ramen, unless you can handle a lot of heat. The side dishes are modest in size, as can be expected of a restaurant in Amsterdam, but the ramen makes up for it. Their teas and desserts are also quite interesting. Surprisingly good ramen! I'm from NYC where we have ippudo which is my hands down favorite and I would venture to say the noodles are very similar to what you'd get at ippudo. I got the special salt ramen with the miso glazed braised char siu and it was excellent! Not what I expected to eat in Amsterdam but a worthwhile stop! read more

Great ramen joint in Amsterdam I found on yelp and reminds me of Ippudo in NYC and other asian countries. Location is great and very easy to find being right around the corner from Dam Square and de Bijenkorf department store near a canal. I had their Hakata Ramen Deluxe which was very good but can be spicy for some (but def not for me) and their Chicken Karage buns which was very good and tasty. I will def be back again my next trip to Amsterdam. read more

For Amsterdam this is a solid ramen place. Service was attentive, gyoza was great and the ramen flavorful if a bit oddly portioned (while both my wife and I had too much noodles, her bowl was easily 80% noodle and hardly enough broth.). Don't come in expecting anything close to ichiran in Tokyo but this will definitely satisfy a late night ramen craving. read more

Just ok. The noodle is just can be called noodle, not ramen! Not sure if it's a real Japanese ramen place due to the taste of the ramen and the fact that Gyoza is made of chicken instead of pork. If you are looking for a warm meal and a quiet atmosphere near the redlight district, this is a must stop. My husband and I are ramen lovers, so this place was a great find. They are very friendly and speak most languages, the food is delicious and is made with love, and the drinks that everyone mentions is very good!
