I have lived in New York City, Boston, Los Angeles etc etc. and all my experiences with the…read morepolice in this precinct have been super fast efficient and gracious. I am a senior female of color and have been treated with great respect fortunately. This past summer two men were heard yelling at one another one morning with the result of one getting stabbed, yes at 10 am behind our garages ( 1880's house converted into 4 rentals). The perpetrator ran away from the victim right up our driveway. And our neighbor who witnessed everything called the police who arrived in minutes. The second incident was at our post office near highway 52 on a boiling June day this summer of 90 degrees. A Mexican mother ran into the post office at 5 pm yelling to borrow a cell phone speaking only Spanish I speak fluent Spanish and asked her why and she said she must call her husband ( rush hour) to come with the keys for her 2 year old child was locked in the car. I quickly told her in Spanish, no time, we must call the police who CAME in less than 5 minutes of my call. The child had passed out was sweating to an extreme her tiny body was very hot after he immediately got the door open. I told the mother to please take the child out bring her inside the cool post office give her water and the mother REFUSED. So I quickly informed the officer, he felt the child and agreed and insisted the mother remove and cool her down. He was truly kind patient calm respectful of us all. The child was SO hot... I think she had left her in the car windows all closed while she had gone into the post office .......

I am always nervous each time I meet any Police officer though sometimes I pretend not to be. But…read moretoday, 8/12/2024 I was at Children's hospital and got lost going to the Pharmacy with my grand baby and ended up into the cafeteria. There was a Police officer at the end of the line closer to me but I skipped him and looked at the person in front of him and asked him to direct me to the Pharmacy. The person did not hear me but this officer kindly directed me to the Pharmacy. He actually had to explain a couple of times the directions. It was not too far but listening to an officer was just nerve wrecking. Anyway, after the visit to the Pharmacy I went to thank the officer and I don't know if he knew that I was nervous but he carried a good conversation with me, taking the fear of unknown away from me. When leaving I asked for his name and he just said Chris, like some local, regular person, but I asked for his last name, and then he just handed me his business card. When I was in the car heading home, I looked at the card and it said "Commander" under his name Christopher Kasal. I almost melted, he was not even just a regular officer but a Commander. I was talking to a Commander yo'all! Oh Wow! What a humble human being. He actually treated me like some important person for real!. Thank you very much Commander Kasal and St. Paul Police for having people like him in your department.

I was in Minnesota helping daughter move. I got a speeding ticket in unfamiliar area..my oops.. But…read morein the process the officer kept my license by accident. My daughter and I went there and it is tight security there. You only can get to the lobby and you must state why you are there or what you need. Once I told them they patched through to the officer who said he would drop it off after an emergency they were in. We waited a while at home but finally had to call as I needed it. He came in about 20 minutes to our home, apologized...saying " I bet you never wanted to see my face again!" after giving me a ticket....It was ok I said. Never feel good about getting a ticket. I felt like the kid in the candy jar. Its much different there than Chicago. Peaceful neighbohoods...people taking their time. The moral of the story watch those MPH signs on Bloomington street as they change block to block.... and if you are not aware..oops. If you are fortunate enough to be stopped by the officer I had...he was kind but did his job. Normandale is 45mph all the way to 494...a much better route I quickly took when headed back to Chi Town.

Although I originally thought I was not speeding, I must confess that upon some honest reflection,…read moreI was speeding. Damn! As I paid my speeding ticket online last night, I also reflected on what an awesome encounter I had (compared to what could've been a Boss Hog moment) with the officer writing me the ticket. This Bloomington officer (not sure I should mention his name) was kind, considerate, and very patient in spite of my outward shock and awe at being pulled over while singing loudly to Van Morrison in the early morning sunshine. While I wholeheartedly and adamantly disagreed at the moment of ticketing, this officer remained friendly and down-right sweet (yes, sweet!) when dealing with me. The ticket still sucks, but I must give kudos to this Bloomington cop! You know you received your taxpayer's money worth of good service when you thank 'em for ticketing ya. Now back to driving more soundly but still singing loudly...

Just Go (#43) Now…read morethat I've been to Paisley Park in Chanhassen and the SPAM Museum in Austin this completes my adventures in Minnesota, unless I come back for another work trip which I'd like to pass and would prefer to not go if I could. EATS: Cafe Zupas - Minnetonka Bacio - Minnetonka Angel Food Bakery & Donut Bar - Minnetonka BLVD Kitchen & Bar - Minnetonka Big Bowl - Minnetonka 5-8 Club - Minneapolis Waffle Bar - Minneapolis Yum! Kitchen and Bakery - Minneapolis Redstone American Grill - Minnetonka Home Taste - Eden Prairie "Uff da!" Now that I look at that list... it seems that all I did in MN was eat. I was glad to have experienced having a Jucy Lucy which is a classic burger w/ a twist. If you haven't tried one it's a must when in MN. "Don'tcha know?"... turn a cheeseburger inside out and you get Minnesota's Juicy Lucy, a beef patty with an ooey-gooey cheese center. ACTIVITIES: Albertville Premium Outlets - Albertville Asia Mall Shopping isn't really my thing but my co-workers wanted to go shopping and we ended up in an outdoor outlet mall. Albertville Factory Outlets is Minnesota's largest outlet shopping center with lots of designer and brand name stores. We only walked halfway through it... let's go, ladies! ATTRACTIONS: Mall of America - Bloomington Minnehaha Park - Minneapolis Minneapolis Sculpture Garden - Minneapolis Paisley Park SPAM Museum When in Minnesota one must not miss visiting the Mall of America. This is the largest shopping and entertainment complex in the U.S. I mean, what does it not have... more than 520 stores, 50 restaurants, a theme park and an aquarium too! Visited Minnehaha Park the first time with my co-workers in 2023 then took my hubby to see the waterfall during the July 4th extended weekend. The park is a short 10-min drive from downtown Minneapolis. The falls had a good flow this time... just beautiful to see! We didn't have time to hike all the way down but a wilderness waterfall in an urban setting overlooking the Mississippi River?? "You betcha!" We topped off our visit to MN with the last two things I wanted to see before leaving the Land of 10,000 Lakes... a tour of Prince's Paisley Park in Chanhassen and the SPAM Museum in Austin. I wrote lengthy reviews for each so I won't say much about them here. One more thing I really like about Minnesota... I've never seen so many huge American flags during our travels. I love it! Bidding a "Minnesota goodbye," thank you, Great State of Minnesota! Review #3843
