Such nice people and a HUGE selection of frames! The thing I liked the best was that when I went to look for my frames they came up and asked me "What kind of frames do you like? How much are you looking to pay?" Then they went off and looked around for a few things they thought I'd like while I meandered through the shop. When they came back, I looked through those frames, then they made more selections based on what I liked until we found the best pair for me. I LOVE that they asked what I was willing to spend and actually stuck by it instead of trying to cram some expensive pair down my throat. read more

My husband is a member of the local 175 teamsters and recently had a contact exam done. I was told our insurance would not cover the exam and was charged 184.00. I received a statement from my insurance and they paid out 244.00 I called the office and I was told they charge for three separate exams. I realize this is legal and they have found a loop hole in the billing but it is wrong. They received over 400.00 for a contact exam which is 4 times the normal cost. I notified my insurance company after calling the eye doctor. I would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

Here's their racket: They do NOT bill for routine eye exams. Instead they bill everything as medical. They are the most expensive vision provider in Charleston and have some very unscrupulous practices. After being told that my vision exam would be fairly inexpensive I received a bill in the mail for a much greater amount. After a few calls to my insurance company and the provider's office I found that Ramsey will only bill for medical eye exams. You see, by only billing for medical they are able to obtain a higher payment from the patient's medical insurance. Vision insurance companies traditionally pay far less. However, if the patient has a high deductible or a deductible that has not yet been satisfied then the patient is responsible for the bill. They are able to get away with this by handing a pamphlet to patients containing a very small hidden disclaimer. The disclaimer indicates that they will not bill for a routine vision exam. By the way, the diagnosis they used for me was conjunctivitis. AKA pink eye. I did not have pink eye on the day of my visit. As a matter of fact I've never had pink eye. But that's the diagnosis they slapped on to turn a $150 visit into a $500 visit. To summarize: Ramsey is using shifty tactics to obtain higher payments for their services. This practice is generally considered illegal but they've found a way around it by handing out a pamphlet. It's all very car dealer-esque. Apparently they are also paying to have negative reviews removed. Check out the reviews at the bottom of their page in gray. More people are saying the same thing but the reviews were removed. read more

Dr. Ramsey and his staff are absolutely the top of the line. From my first phone call to their office until the time I checked out EVERYONE was spectacular. They made me feel important and safe. They were very knowledgeable about my insurance and worked to get me in the glasses I wanted at an affordable price. I definitely recommend Ramsey EyeCare. Their whole team is outstanding! read more

My husband and I went to Ramsey eye care and was told we had to pay over $500+, out of our pockets, on an eye exam and only 6 months of contacts. I've spoken with other eye doctors since and they have a reputation here of being "the most expensive eye care office in the valley". They charged us for a medical eye exam, even though there was nothing wrong with our eyes. We simply went in for a yearly eye exam. The staff was not willing to work with us when we asked them to submit it to our eye insurance, instead of our medical. We have since chosen not to go back and have deterred our friends and family from going there as well, and they have listened. They've missed out on a lot of business, all because they wouldn't bill our ROUTINE eye exam to our eye insurance. The fact that they are ridiculously expensive doesn't help them either. read more

They charge to my medical insurance which means I have to pay a $40 deductible for my eye exam, even when I don't have any medical problems with my eyes, instead of using the vision insurance that I have (and that they supposedly accept). My family will find another eye dr that actually bills correctly. read more

Ramsey Eye Care is the most expensive vision provider in Charleston. It cost my wife and I $250 for routine exams AFTER our insurance paid. Then after paying the amount I was asked to pay at checkout I received a $63 bill in the mail. When I questioned it I was told that that amount has been applied to my deductible. I advised the employee that my vision coverage does not have a deductible. Turns out when you arrive for your visit the receptionist passes you a very inconspicuous pamphlet. This pamphlet appears to be literature explaining the mission statement of the business. Hidden inside is verbage explaining that they do not bill for routine vision exams. Every exam is medical. They sent the claim to my medical insurance and it was applied to my deductible. Of course they will do nothing about this issue despite the fact that there is nothing medically wrong with my eyes. It was very shady but I guess a posh office on Morris Street doesn't come cheap. Therefore hard working Joes like me are tricked into paying for extra. read more
