$80 (online quote) to $120 (phone quote) to $200 (Text after he had it in his truck) as the final price for a dresser, mirror and a student desk!!!!! You decide - - - times that by the load you are considering him to move. If you have a flexible budget that you can spend 66% more than you were quoted which was 66% more than the Thumbtack online rate quoted THIS GUY is for you. The price showed at $80 on Thumbtack. He has a phone number in his name that encourages you to call right away. The catch is that when you call him. You now have NO OPTION to make a review on Thumbtack. I decided to use his service even though the price went from $80 for a dresser, mirror and old student desk to $120 on the phone once I called him. I gave him grace and decided to hire him anyway. FIRST mistake. I told him that I wanted him to pick it up from the storage unit and donate it to charity. He said fine. Once he picked it up he texted back with photos and said that it was now going to be $200!!! I even asked him point blank - So you are going up to $200 on the price?? He said that he didn't go to the donation place less than 1.5 miles from the storage unit and he had left then. He said that if I paid him the $200 he would go take it and send me a donation receipt. He even called me back in less than 20 minutes asking about the payment when I WAS THE ONE TO CALL HIM TO ASK HIM about the payment. I told him that I was in the process of sending the payment and when I was done, I screenshotted the payment. He and started asking questions about where I lived for the first time. I had had at least 4-5 interactions with him and he acted like he could care less. He was a many of few words - until he asked for more money for 3 items that took him less than 20 mins to load. I told him the number of items and about the donation down the road at the very beginning when he then gave me the $120 quote! He had already been on the road be the time I called him to track him down. When I asked why was he asking, he said to have conversation! No it was to deflect so I wouldn't remember you went up 66% on the price I agreed to pay you. Side note, asking me questions to act you care doesn't work when you have hiked the price! BUYER BEWARE - You really don't know what his true ratings are because if you use him from Thumbtack the ratings don't go through. You ONLY receive a link if you actually send him a message to go through THUMBTACK versus call him. Now I see why he has his number in his name to encourage you to call him directly. After scrolling through the reviews that did get through on THUMBTACK, the MAJOR complaint was how he went way up on the price that I saw. You decide! Have him text you or message you the price so when he goes up on the price 66%+ he can get the rest in small claims court! read more
