Given all the rain, I offered to reschedule the appointment, but Jermain had zero issues working with and in the elements. Jermain worked efficiently and with purpose, hauling the material (broken wooden pallets, wood and tree branches from our backyard around to the front of our house where Jermain's trailer was parked. When Jermain was finished, it was as if there was never a pile of junk in our backyard. Dealing with this dumpster company was a two week nightmare. They put a lien on my property after…read moretheir employee pocketed a cash payment from a foreman for delivering the dumpster and went to Mexico. They admitted that was the case and still insisted that I had to pay and kept it up with a final email agreeing they would remove it but still blaming my roofer (who used this company after an accident took out their normal guy). They even had the wrong roofing company listed on the original invoice and all of this went down three months after the fact. Now a home owner IS financially responsible for all payments for services and goods used by contractors per consumer.georgia.gov: "If the contractor does not properly pay everyone, then you may have to. Fortunately, the law provides many ways for you to avoid a claim of lien in the first place, and to get rid of any claim of lien that is filed." (For big renovation jobs the homeowner can get protected from "shenanigans" by filing a Notice of Commencement, FYI). But in this case, JC Roadrunner took those words to mean they had the right to put a lien on my property even when it was their own employee/subcontractor (both words used to describe him, other emails said he was the driver AND the dispatcher) took cash for delivering the dumpster and not giving it to their accounting office. My roofing company was appalled by the situation and the lack of professionalism by the employees at JC Roadrunner - they said dumpster companies typically don't even deliver unless they've been paid first and in an initial conversation between them JC Roadrunner agreed that was their standard but still insisted "they weren't paid" in this particular case. At some point after that, they wouldn't talk to the roofing company anymore and only would communicate to me (towards the end even offering to discount the amount to $300 in return for removing the lien and if/when their guy came back from Mexico and gave them money, they would reimburse me.) This company didn't have the correct roofing company nor even my name and knew their ex-employee was gone but still chose to pursue this with a very hard-nosed unreasonable "too bad for you" kind of attitude. What's more, a stamped manila envelope from the company I found in my mailbox had no post office marking on it. It burns my biscuits to think this company could have done this to senior citizens or other people without the means to stay the course. I have emails from the company that verify all stated information above.
