I was told RamZs was a "must stop" on my way home to Chicago from Indy. Family owned for almost 40 years! It's a a mecca for: jewelry, sports memorabilia, war memorabilia, figurines and statues. They have an extensive war and gun department of you're into that. This is a place where patrons come to sell their items and then Mr. And Mrs. Ramsey sell them. So you won't be going "booth to booth" finding gems. You'll puruse through all the figurines... and then you're done. You'll puruse through the fur coats... and then you're done. Mostly everything is organized but they have SO MUCH STUFF that a lot of things are IN a glass cabinet with STUFF ON TOP OF THE CABINET. IT seems like they have an inventory issue- sooo much stuff! I was there for the jewelry snd left with a 14K white gold and diamond ring for $350. They also offer ring resizing in the back. This place seems like a Jack of all trades, I just wonder if they need to scale things back a bit... THEY HAVE NO PUBLIC RESTROOM- which seems crazy with the size of the place! I have traded with RamZs a number of times and been thankful for their fine service. Especially for transfer of purchased firearms, they have been less costly than some of the other firms in the area who gouge us badly. It is bad enough that citizens have to take precious time and pay money just to exercise a Constitutional right, but when businesses want $50 for a 10-minute transfer requiring only administrative action and adding not a whit of value for the buyer, it is nice to deal with people who are not greedy. read more

I purchased on GunBroker a 1975 Colt Cobra from these guys that was beautifully displayed with no issues indicated in the listing. I waited for it to arrive and picked it up from my FFL. I got home and opened the cylinder which flopped open and then would not close? I messaged Ramz's explaining that there was an issue with the gun and the cylinder latch was not catching or locking into place, I had in essence bought a $1500 paperweight! I spoke to a Joe Fields from the store and sent him a video showing the cylinder was not working properly and expressed a desire to keep the gun as he was going to ask the consigner who supplied the gun to them if he would pay for the repair? I shipped the gun off to the Colt Custom Shop requesting an estimate of what the problem was and the cost to repair it? I got a call back from them as they are the only place to have Colt work done. They explained that the gun had been refinished and someone had not done such a great job with it, The cylinder locking mechanism for the yoke needed to be raised up as the amount of dreck & dirt on the inside of the gun over the past 49 years, it appeared it had never been opened or cleaned for that matter. I contacted Ramz's to explain the cost to fix the gun and get it into working condition was $690. I did not speak to Joe Fields this time but the manager who was argumentative and verbally just a dirtbag. He starts screaming at me you had work done before we approved it. This was the furthest thing from the truth as the work had not been done yet. Then I spoke to Chad Ramz and I am going to take a wild guess here but I suppose Chad Ramz the owners son hired the sales manager as they both had the same persona and attitude over the phone, THIS is not our fault you must have done something and we never authorized this repair. Typical narcissistic personality. So in hindsight if you are buying something from Ramz's Emporium and your not dealing with Joe Fields then be forewarned you are dealing with lying dirtbags who only care about winning and nothing else. They sold a firearm that wouldnt fire. Is that still a firearm? or did I just pick up a $1800 paperweight? I ended up paying the repair from the Custom shop myself because now I can share with the world how Ramz's Emporium actually does business. Not so great. Below are 2 pictures, the first one is from them on there GB listing. Claiming the gun was perfect and ready to go. I wonder if they took the necessary 4 minutes to open the gun or not? hhhmmmm? The 2nd picture is from the Colt Custom Shop who is by far the most honest & reputable place in the country to deal with when it comes to Colts, I trust no one more about this subject than them! It would appear from the 2nd picture that maybe this gun has some issues? I will let be the judge? This review relates specifically to the jewelry repair department. I had a bracelet that I wasn't able to wear because I couldn't get it on and off by myself. I needed an extra link added to it. I took it to a few jewelry stores around town, receiving poor and expensive options for repair, before coming to RamZs. They did an excellent modification! My bracelet is a designer brand and the link they added looks like it has always been there! It looks great and looks like it'll last the life of the bracelet and the charge was very reasonable. Avoid at all costs. I took my mother's ring there to be resized as it was too big for me. It was thick in both width and thickness when I took it to them. They thinned it out so much in order to retrieve as much gold from it as possible. I didn't want the width of the band changed just the size but they reduced it by half. Very disappointed. And twice they have been closed before their listed business hours! So infuriating! It's 4:49 right now and they say they're open until 5:30! Come on! Just ridiculous. I used to love this place, they always seemed pleasant and helpful. I started buying things here back when they were next to Payless, I went there today with one guitar that I actually purchased there for a good amount of money and one guitar that is worth probably 3 times more. I went to the counter and the darker haired one of the owners sons ignored me for 5 minutes, which felt like forever, finally he found the time for me, he started giving me a story about how overstocked he was with guitars, I totally understood what he was talking about, he is totally overstocked with junk guitars, I have no idea why he is so surprised he can't sell them, they are garbage guitars and they are all overpriced, so I told him nobody would buy that junk he is trying to sell, but I am offering him a couple of quality guitars, he blew his top and started yelling at me, I will never shop there again, if you are looking to buy a guitar go elsewhere, all they have is overpriced strat copies and the such. read more

So, here we go. I am a domestic violence survivor. My abuser took my jewelry to area pawn shops and sold every single piece. The most important of which was an antique ring that was given to me by my grandmother prior to her passing in 1986. Having lived in a domestic violence shelter for over a year and while still living there, I randomly stopped by Ramz exchange in hopes I might locate this very special ring. Fate must have been on my side that day as the ring was still in one of their cases. My eyes were full of happy tears at that moment. I couldn't believe it! At that time I was just getting back on my feet, readying myself to return to as normal a life as possible. I explained my circumstance to someone at Ramz's and was told they'd put the ring in the back with my name and phone # on it. My only other option at that time was to buy back my own ring, which was not financially feasible. Approximately 8 months went by and I contacted Ramz's and was told that the ring had been sold. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Not once did I receive a phone call or voicemail alerting me to the ring being put back on the floor for sale. And my phone number had not changed. When I spoke with Chad the manager he told me that they didn't have to put it on hold for me, adding that other places wouldn't have even done this for me. Also told me they weren't obligated to contact me and that 8 months was way too much time. He also told me had I made payments each month....what?!?! Reminder: I was just getting ready to leave a shelter. Wow! So I'm happy to report that I live in a world where I still believe in being kind to people. Hopefully if you are reading this you are the type of person that would place someone's cherished item above the almighty dollar. I believe the ring was priced at $240 or so when I first discovered it. Weigh the options...holding onto a ring of little value that meant the world to someone vs. making a few bucks. read more

I had picked up an interesting piece recently and wanted to find out some history on it and if possible what it was worth. I took it into Ramz's thinking that they would be the best place to go. Entering into the store we were greeted and explaining what I was there for they sent me to the back of the store. At first I was unsure of who or where I was to go up to since there were more than 4 people standing behind the counter. Nobody acknowledged me for a while. Then a younger girl ask me if she could help me. I told her I wanted to know the value of the piece I had. She took it from me and walked over to the older "Mr. Ramz" ....he was looking at a ring and talking to a women who had his ear because he barely looked at my piece and then shook his head no. That was it...no eye contact with me or even a hello. I was dismissed. The lady handed it back to me and she turned and walked away. Needless to say I will never return and that's a shame because I would have shopped in the store. I am an antique collector and have met some strange fellows but being rude to a first time customer rubbed me wrong and I will not return. read more
