We bought the 3 pack for ranch of horror in chowchilla . The only attraction we liked was the zombie paintball contagion, however there were only like 20 "zombies " to shoot at . It would have been more fun if there was at least 100 more zombies . The haunted hayride was pretty terrible, The acting was not great and I didn't really understand what was going on . We didn't even bother going to haunted house . It was a waste of money because we spent $167 on all 3 attractions. read more

Everything! From first communication, we were confused if this was located in Turlock or Chowchilla. Next, the two nasty porta potties that were filthy and up on a trailer, difficult to go into. Haunted hayride was lame, actors talking to each other higher on radios to tell each other they did things wrong. Mostly children actors. Dystopia was terribly dirty with nothing scary. I do not see any other reviews for the 2024 event in Chowchilla. Absolutely a waste of time. we drove 2 1/2 hours and decided to get the fast pass to miss the lines. what lines? there was not one person in line for the haunted Dystopia, I believe the name was. the hayride was even worse. not scary at all. we spent 35.00 each for the worse haunted theme park we have ever been to. We usually go to Raisin Hell an hour up the road, but was limited on time when we had to return home. My friends and family that I was with, said that I will never live it down that I chose this. Needs work is the nicest description I can give of this attraction. On a whim we agreed to join my friend and her son and in all there were 13 of us. Gates opened at 7 pm but we weren't let in till close to 7:30. Then we had to stand in another line with our pre-purchased passes to get the tickets for each attraction. We had purchased our "VIP" passes from Costco which cost $30 for 2 people. It gave us entry to the House of Dystopia and the haunted hayride and included a fast pass which was kind of useless. I really couldn't tell if we got on anything faster because we still had to wait in line quite awhile, especially for the hayride since they only had one tractor running. Bottom line-both attractions were weak and lame. They had very limited food options and what they did have was really pricey which I fully expected for this type of place. The best thing about the experience was the outdoor movie they were showing (Casper) for free and real bathrooms. I would not return. read more

My fiance and I came here last year, and enjoyed the experience very much. The attractions we did do, we also enjoyed very much. This year? The only horrors are the horror of lines, the horror of complete disorganization, and the horror of lackluster haunts. First we get there early, to avoid lines. well it turns out they had some last minute fire drill? and no one could go in. Fine, things happen. But, even though we had come 15 mins early, and several people were there even earlier, they made us form a line against the fence where we waited for 20-30 mins past 7, and several people who had just arrived literally just walked up to the gate and waited there, and also went in ahead of so many of us that had been there 30+ minutes already. Ok, not cool, but whatever. The line to get tickets, even presale tickets, was very long and moved very slow, even though we had pretty decent position. To add to this, the new layout makes everything VERY cramped, and you have attractions on both sides of the line. So people had to keep walking thru the lines to get place to place. Very little room and bad layout compared to last year, which felt so much more open and easy to get around. Now to the attractions... Wow.. just wow. what happened?? We participated in 3 haunts. Rather, 3 disappointments. Bloody Lullaby. It should be against the law to charge $15 for this. The attraction was very way out of the way, with little to no guidance to exactly WHERE it is. You need to go to the rock wall, and then through the open gate down the paved path to just a small open gate near some bleachers, there you will find both the Bloody Lullaby, and also the ranchers revenge. The problem? once you pass the main gate, theres NO WAY to know where to go after that. We were with another couple and we luckily found it together, after almost getting lost. The "haunt" itself is literally a 20-30 second walk down a sidewalk. A couple screams to be had, but for $15 a ticket? Neither we nor the other couple could believe thats all it was. Haunted Hayride. WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS ONE! Last years was SO GOOD we almost went twice! They claim this years is new and supposedly better?? It wasn't even remotely close to as good as last years. BIG let down to us, especially since we so much enjoyed last years haunted hayride. House of Dystopia Longest line of all, even for Fast Lane people. But lines are OK when the end result is worth it. This may be the ONLY attraction worth spending money on, and even still its lackluster. There's some good scares and screams in here though, especially if you are in front. My fiance and I have decided we will most likely not be attending the Ranch of Horror in the future, but we both hope they eventually get it together to put out a good haunt again. read more

My first post was deleted by Yelp so I'll dumb this one down and be more "P.C." for all the snow flakes in the world. Well, let me just start it by saying the only horrifying thing about this place is the long lines and amount of money I wasted. We didn't even make it through the haunted house line because it took 30 minutes to move 15 feet in line. Very unorganized and looks and feels like a backyard operation. Unfortunately, I agree with most others who said the actual events were subpar and that there was a super long wait to access them, and they were a complete rip off. We spent close to $140 for 2 tickets to see just part of total events in this park, and due to staff disorganization, we didn't have time for many, as we live over 2 hr.s away. ... The tickets are outrageously expensive for the most disorganized, slow moving, oversimplified attempt at Halloween entertainment I can recall ever having had. The ones we went on were super short in duration, except for the one described below: We waited an hour to start the zombie paintball escape room event (as did the group before us), and this was 5 dy.s BEFORE Halloween day, so the crowds aren't nearly as huge as they probably will be for Halloween. Halloween will be a TRUE nightmare (not in a good way) for lots of patrons, unless a Halloween miracle occurs in the next few days with this whole operation. Most staff were nice but one had major attitude. A 12 yr old on his worst behavior acted as the gatekeeper to the zombie escape room. Staff acknowledged they knew about his bad attitude. Several paintball guns - they only had 8 - had lights that didn't work or were super dim, making it hard to see where to walk/run, and how to read clues in the dark. The "zombies" were too aggressive, trying to yank tags off people to the point where I saw someone fall down on her back. The escape room - problem solving - aspect of the event was ill-thought out and made little sense to anyone in our designated group. By the time the 2 of us left that event we didn't have much time left over for most other events. The ones we did go to were underwhelming, though the Dystopia house was alright but way too short. If you have medical issues with strobe lights, that particular one is over the top, so be careful. read more

Ranch of horrors deserves to be blasted for the false advertisement and nasty customer service. You would expect more from a so called successful haunt. To me this is considered a high school production with the amount of unprofessionalism that is handed out. This place seriously was lacking in the fear department and enthusiasm. The house of Dystopia was amateur and nothing but strobe lights and the actors makeup looked like it was applied by the high school kids themselves. There is too much hype around this event with no substance. Subpar decorations with cheesy performers. The whole thing felt very rushed and poorly built! This haunt is more for kids, definitely not for adults that are looking for something authentic. The hayride was sad and bland. Very poor actors and decoration was weak for a place like this. Went last night, this place was so unorganized it was pathetic. To start, after parking, walk up to line. After a couple of minutes and watching people walk by certain areas right in, we begin to ask what gives? A rude British guy kept telling us to be patient. What was happening is they were trying to take pictures at a cheap backdrop for $10. Asked if this was required and was ignored. When I asked are you going to stop me, he said abruptly, go ahead. Well the line was gone then because nobody wanted their picture taken. Then to the ticket booth, again very unorganized. We had tickets from Groupon, and they wanted to refund us and wanted us to buy with cash. The haunted house was a let down, with the exception of the Doctor and Contortionist, good job there. The rest was total darkness and you couldn't tell which way to go. A few kids would run and scream in your ear, which was annoying more than scary. After exiting we were offered to go through again for free, no thanks. The Hayride was pathetic. On a trailer, a few kids run by and yell. Was kept being told, this is the first night, were sorry. Why open if you're not ready? If you want the best, go to Hobbs Grove, the wait there is worth it. I've been to a few Haunted Houses/Halloween festivals and unfortunately this one is the bottom of the barrel by far. read more

I really enjoyed the experience I went there last year and this year they had new things. Lines are pretty long so I recommend to buy the fast pass it really helps. The haunted houses are scary but I personally think the bloody Lullaby is the best one. They don't have much of food options so I recommend you eat before you get there. Free parking too! Writing this while still at ranch of horror. Mazes are SMALL maybe 80 feet. Lots of unpreparedness in everything we have done so far. Ranchers revenge was by far the worst, not only were we threatened with word for word "my dad works here as a security guard" also in ranchers revenge you arent allowed to aim (hip fore only)but also can not hit someone in their well guarded heads if you do by accident(cause you arent allowed to aim) also you cant shoot an actor laying down even though they are far in the way of another actor. Also they stopped the entire group and mandated somebody apologise or else we were all getting thrown out. Even though it was not purposeful and they had paintball masks on. For $50 bucks it aint all too bad but definitely killed the otherwise ok time i was having. read more

SO disappointing!! Came at around 8:30 (which was probably our mistake anyway). Got in line for the haunted hayride at around 9:30 (after waiting to buy tickets for an hour) and was not able to get on the ride until around 11:30 PM. Also, we were told that the hay ride was a 15 minute ride, which almost made the two hour wait in line worth it! It ended up only being close to 5 minutes.... the most boring let down I have ever been on. Would probably only have been scary for my 5 year old sister, and I am VERY skittish when it comes to horror attractions like this. The only terrifying thing about this entire place is that I wasted $50 dollars for the "deal" (7 attractions) to wait 2 hours for a 5 minute kiddie hay ride. Not looking forward to wasting my October weekends trying to make the $50 I paid worth it. I want my money back!!! read more

Waited ten minutes in line for a haunted house that wasn't even busy to begin with. The girl at the entrance was just awkward and weird. Going inside at the entrance it's an unfinished room with audio you can barely hear. The spinning cylinder wasn't even working, the actors all hid behind corners and just screamed at you when you passed by. Come up with something creative. Your claustrophobia tunnel was wimpy to say the least. The only cool thing was the lasers. That's. It. The attention to detail was horrible. It looked as if the haunt was rushed to be put together, and it was badly put together. The animatronics were okay, you can tell it was all from the Spirit store. I've seen better haunted houses on front yards. Waste of $30 for just one haunted house. Save your money people. read more

This is our second year and as expected an incredible experience. Friends of ours drove up from San Jose and we did the all access pass. We experienced the House of Dystopia, Bloody Lullaby, Ranchers Revenge, Headless Horseman & Haunted Hayride. All were awesome! We also added Contaigon which was definitely worth $25. Definitely suggest the VIP pass. read more

I really enjoyed my time here. I will say it was way over priced, we spent $110 on 2 wristbands for me and my husband and that did not even give us access to the 2 best attractions which would be an additional $35 each. The lady organizing everything was really nice and gave us tickets to those for free. We went on the last night so we didn't have any trouble with waiting in line. Although the last night may account for the lack of enthusiasm for several actors, especially the sleepy hollow tour guide. The attractions I enjoyed we're House of dystopia, bloody lullaby, Haunted Hayride, with Contagion and Zombie Escape being the most interactive and entertaining. If those 2 we're expanded, and you had unlimited access to those with the wristbands, I would easily pay $50 per person and come back every year. read more

So I booked a Valentine's gram for my daughter for today, didn't turn out how I expected if you decide to do one do the $30 one that's reasonable but anything above that NO. My daughter had a better time with the Quality professional handwash clowns during Halloween...what a bummer....I do not not recommend booking for anything $30 and above. read more

It sucks that I have to update my review of Ranch of Horror, to a one star rating. I enjoyed this place so much last year (2018). I was looking forward to visiting this Halloween season but what a huge disappointment it was this year.First, they had some problem right around opening time, which delayed opening from 7 pm til around 7:30...not a huge deal but once they opened the gates, the massive crowd that gathered, made their way to the ONE ticket booth, which like last year,even if you pre pay for your tickets online or buy groupon tickets online, you still have to go to the ticket booth to exchange your pre pay tickets. It would be so much smoother if you can just hand over your pre pay tickets to the person running the line at each attraction...The layout of the grounds was so crowded, majority of the attractions, the ticket booth and the movie screen are cram packed into a tiny space and there is barely enough space to move through the crowds and lines. The Bloody Lullaby and Rancher's Revenge were located way on the opposite side of the fair grounds, with no signs or directions on where exactly to go. If I had not asked a security gaurd where the Bloody Lullaby was located, I would not have known at all where to go. I have to add that last year, Bloody Lullaby was one of the best attractions and very entertaining but this year, not only did they up the price on it but, it was so lame. Last year it was an indoor attraction that they put a huge effort into, this year it was outside, located behind some bleachers and I am not exaggerating when I tell you that it took less than 1 minute to walk through it.$30.00 for two tickets to Bloody Lullaby was a huge waste of money. The Hayride was also way better last year. This year, it was a longer ride but there was nothing entertaining about it whatsoever. We waited in line for almost an hour for House of Dystopia. This attraction had no sign to identify that it was the House of Dystopia so I assumed that it was,which I confirmed with other people in line. This attraction was also very lame, a few jump scares, some strobe lights and a few clothing mannequins.We were also asked by the lady taking tickets for H.O.D to try not to swear inside the attraction if we got too scared because there were minors working in there..lol..... I can't believe how much of a let down, waste of time and money this was this year. I loved it so much last year. They really dropped the ball this year. This is a great haunt! Different attractions, lots of spooktacular moments. Great cast, it's cool to see all ages enjoy. The Zombies ROCK!!! This is definitely one of the top 5 haunted house attractions we have been to so far. We had a great experience from the moment we got there everyone was friendly, on point in costume and character. It was just a really fun/ scary environment. We only did 3 attractions because we got there so late so I am definitely looking forward to going back with my oldest daughter before the season let's out. The money spent is well worth it, we traveled up from Fresno, Ca and had such a great time. It definitely can be a family friendly environment they had Hocus Pocus playing in the quad area with stacks of hay to sit on and the kids were definitely enjoying that. There are zombie alien paintball shooting games which I know all of my kids would enjoy and not be terrified. I'd definitely recommend not taking smaller ones into the attractions but if you have a kid that loves everything about getting scared this place is definitely for you. read more

Had high Hope's for this event as it was sadly a let down. I wouldnt have paid for all the attractions. To pay almost 70 to 80 bucks for this is not worth it. They have nice people working there, the people you interact with. The scarers lacked energy, there was hardly any Zombies in the Zombie areas. Contagion was cool, but the best part was the truck ride you felt you would die on. I would suggest they lower their prices or give people more bang for their buck. I've been to similar events for less and get way more. I'd much rather spend the 80 bucks for Queen Mary Dark Harbor VIP and pay for travel and hotel than do this event again. I was not impressed. I have been to some really good haunts. This one was a bit amateurish. No mood music. We bought our tickets ahead of time on-line, which was pointless. Once we got their we STILL had to stand in line to convert the online tickets to actual tickets we could use. the line to convert only had ONE cashier and it took three times longer than the regular line. We had to wait over an hour and a half to ride the haunted hay ride that lasted 5 minutes because they ALWAYS took the people from the "fast track" line, so the regular line never moved. It felt as if the fact that we ALSO paid good money was not valued. they should have taken from BOTH lines for each ride. I have no desire to return. read more
