Do Not Move Here!! When I wanted to move out, I was 59 days and a couple of hrs from moving. They want perfectly 60 days (though maintenance does not perform any activities) before moving out. Sounds like a scam its because it is!! They charged me for cleaning specfic parts. Little do they know, I took a video. Place is a scam. Thin walls, poorly insulated where your bill is waaaayyyy higher, if you have autopay, they will charge as much as they can. My favorite part of it all are the thefts. There were so many thefts; one was performed directly in front of me. They refused to do anything (such as adding cameras). There are so many options. The cost is also terrible. A single bedroom is 1800 while a two bedroom is 1500? How does this make any sense. read more

Lived here for 1 year. Very peaceful for awhile... we were located on the second floor and started experiencing a severe ant issue. The ants started in my living room, migrated to my daughter's room, then back to the living room into the kitchen, they were everywhere! on the second floor?! how?! Very unprofessional behavior from Marlene Armijo. Multiple times not only did Marlene try and gaslight me, she also bluntly lied. She would constantly tell my partner and I "She's never seen an ant issue like this is her whole 10+ years. She's never had an ant issue in this building. It's from my trash can (in my dining room with a regular amount of trash in it.) it was always redirected to us and never them. I have evidence from around the property that this has clearly been an issue, and maybe i'm the only one that cannot deal with it and just live my normal life. as well as my partner felt this way. I talked to previous tenants about their issues and experience and 2 other people stated they also had a severe ant issue and terrible management issues. Both me and my partner had to seek therapy over the ants and the way we were treated. As well as illegally entered our apartment multiple times (highly suggest getting a camera for your front door as that's how we figured this out and turned over to our lawyer.) did not try and compensate us for any of our hassles and heartaches. Maintenance at one point came in and destroyed a couple pieces of my decoration, was never replaced or compensated. Pest control would let himself in without any prior notice or and i never out in a 7 day request. Would always spray and not let me see or know what he was spraying in my apartment, mind you I have an infant. went into my room even after being asked not to go in there (the only reason I know is because of the camera we had to set up.) Marlene also tried to lie and say pest control did come by and I wasn't home after I had scheduled for that day. Pest control admitted to not even being scheduled for that day and that Marlene was trying to flip the script. Only owned up to the truth once I mentioned my camera. Drama. Drama. Drama. and a whole bunch of unprofessionalism. Makes me never want to rent again, because of the poor taste they gave off. I know LANL employees look at these often because of price comparisons to Los Alamos's market and where it's located. be very careful, in general doesn't matter who! Originally they got a deposit of $500+ then another $620 at move out because of the prorated amount they said would be put toward credit. Now sending a bill for $180+ dollars , when realistically they owe us money. Everything has been turned over to our lawyer, and now the state,and BBB. From 20 yrs old - 100yrs old watch your back with this management and especially Marlene ( New Mexico Court is always your friend as you can see she's been in a case previously. a quick lookup on facebook mention of "Rancho Carerra" will bring up anything your looking for. I have Plenty of photos of other peoples reviews, and my own experience. If you do choose to go through these apartments make sure to know your lease. Very sad situation as this was our first time renting as young tenants, our baby did most of her first here. Sadly by the end of it we felt uncomfortable, unwelcome, and pushed out. read more

I give them high marks for a.) apologizing for dropping the ball and b.) letting me know they were embarrassed by this. It's probably rare these days that a company would do both of those things. Stay away from this dump! I could write a review that's 5 pages long of the nightmares i experienced living here, but I will summarize it. First off, let me start with the ant infestation of this place. The ants are UN-beatable, and they come in droves of thousands. Management is aware of the situation, and there was absolutely no regular pest control done at this property. If the management says otherwise, they are lying. Second, I was bombarded with maintenance nightmares the entire time I lived here. I had upstairs neighbors sewage pouring into my bathroom for months (yes MONTHS). I literally had to start going to the office, and calling every day for 3 Weeks til they finally ran out of excuses, and came to fix the problem. On top of it all, management made me feel like I was the inconvenience, not the sewage pouring into my apartment for 3 months. Third, I was without hot water, and heat during the winter for 2 weeks. I had to go and buy space heaters to stay warm, and had to shower elsewhere as there was no warm water to bathe with for 2 weeks. Fourth, The management is overall the worst I have ever experienced. Marlene is rude, condescending, and unsympathetic. The assistant manager is also unsympathetic, and will come up with every, and any excuse she can think of as to why something isn't getting done. At one point when i was fighting to get the sewage leak fixed, she even said to me that they couldn't get it fixed cause the Wi-Fi in the office was down. A complete lie, and an unacceptable excuse. Lastly, in addition to the sewage leak, I had bathtub walls collapse on me, I had a broken toilet when I moved in which they replaced with a used stained dirty toilet from another apartment, faucet leaks, air conditioner leaks, falling exterior plaster (which i was informed would be fixed when i moved in, but never got fixed). You can hear every step your upstairs neighbor takes. I knew when they flushed the toilets, took showers, and had sex. there is no insulation whatsoever. There was times i was so disgusted with all of this, i would rent hotel rooms, just to get a decent nights sleep. They also kept my security deposit(even thought the apartment was in the same exact condition when I moved out as it was when I moved in.) They force a 60 day notice to vacate on you. I gave a 45 day notice, and they charged me $450 because i didnt give them 60 days notice. On top of all of this, the location is not convenient to anything. There are no restaurants nearby, no stores (except a Shell convenience store), and the amenities are all lacking, and oversold to prospective tenants. One time I was swimming in the pool, and got a face full of hair that must have came from the filter. I was so disgusted, I never used the pool again. Do yourself a favor, and skip this dump, unless you want to pay $925.00 monthly for complete discomfort, and dis-satisfaction. read more

Great place to live as long as you don't mind doing your own maintenance. Friend lived here for a year and now has mold because the staff ignored requests to fix a leaking sink. In fact, he has requests from the first month that he moved in that have never been addressed. However, the renter directly underneath my friend's unit receives prompt attention whenever she has an issue. I'm sure it has nothing to do with race. Rancho Carrera is very pet friendly! Just watch your step off the side walks because nobody picks up their dog's shit. It's everywhere. Also, do you like is when your rent amount is unpredictable every month? If you do then be sure to sign up for auto pay so that they can draft a weird amount from your bank account when rent is due, then definitely call the office so that they can explain to you why it's different in the most confusing way possible while also sending you a page full of numbers that makes absolutely no sense, even to an accountant. In short, great place to live as long as you're not a minority, love living in cancer causing mold, have no complaints or maintenance requests ever, and absolutely love dog shit everywhere you step. Bonus for you if like talking to irritating, uneducated, rude "professionals" in the front office. They'll make your whole day! read more

Rancho Carrera Apartments are out to cheat you of your money. I will explain what happened to us. We rented an apartment in January 2015. The apartment had pee smelling and stained carpets which we mentioned in our check-in list. They did nothing to clean up the carpets. After having lived there for 1.5 years, we moved out in late 2016. At that time we were shocked to see that Marlene, the Manager, sent us a bill for the carpet replacement costs since she claimed we left the carpet 'dirty'. After a lot of writing back and forth, in which Marlene refused to acknowledge that the carpet was dirty when we moved in, we found she had made a glaring mistake in the calculation which is explained below: In the bill it was claimed that the carpet had 7 years of life, and we lived on it for 1.5 years, and so we had to pay for 5.5 years of the remaining life span of the carpet. We asked Marlene to explain how, when we moved into the apartment with a 'new carpet', there was pee smell on the carpet as well as stains. We asked Marlene that for 1.5 years we lived there, not once the management of Rancho Carrera Apartments disputed our written check in list. IF the carpet was new, then surely there could be no pee smell on them. She wrote back a few days saying our account was closed with zero balance. So, if we did not have written evidence that we moved in on smelly carpets, Rancho Carrera Apartments would have kept trying to cheat us of our money. Sadly, we did lose money. After the email from Marlene stating that our account was closed with zero balance, she did not refund us our security deposit. In fact, Marlene did not even send us a final bill of all the things charged to us. It is obvious Rancho Carrera Apartments indulges in these kind of seemingly illegal activities with it's customers. Our advise to all new tenants - Do not trust Marlene, or Edwina or Sabrina or any other staff members of Rancho Carrera Apartments. Take pictures of when you move in. Take videos. They WILL try to find our ways to charge you extra!!! For anyone who is interested in disputing our claims - We have ALL our claims in written communication and can prove everything mentioned in this review. read more

no. the maintenance requests were NOT repaired promptly. and Ben did not address MY concerns. he was busy covering your incompetence and indifference. the only time customer service is important to you people is at a lease signing, once the ink is dry on the lease you don't give a crap. despite have medical documentation, you refused to comply with the americans with disabilities act and fair housing act for more than a month until I threatened to sue and literally printed copies of the laws and highlighted the sections you were in violation of. read more

We heard about Rancho Carrera when we were stationed in Alabama, and needed a place to live in our home town. The leasing agents were extremely helpful via phone and email. When we got back home to Santa Fe we were pleasantly surprised with the property. The landscaping was beautiful, the fitness center was really nice, and the gas BBQ grills and volleyball area were an added bonus. We lived there for two years with our two boys, and I felt super safe, never had issues with neighbors and I never saw non residents coming around the area. The only issues we had were minor maintenance issues, but other than that, it was a great place to live. read more

Run from this place ! Extremely overpriced. The walls a thin and the insulation is substandard, you will freeze.

Maintenance is sorely lacking at this place. Be prepared to take care of simple things urself since residents are mostly viewed as business and not persons in need for something to get done. read more

We have only been here 3 weeks, but find this a very nice complex, mostly quiet except for one dog who lives close to us and wild kids running around (although that was kind of fun). Excellent value for the rent and the staff is very friendly and willing to help. Our cream colored carpet will probably drive us nuts, but it looks nice. Wish my oven was self-cleaning but very glad that refrigerator makes ice. The neighbors are great, had wine with a few the second night we moved in. read more

Living in Rancho Carrera Apartments has been perhaps the worst living experience ever. The apartment grounds are covered in dog poop, there are many people who have trash bags stacked up to cover all of their back patio areas, you can hear every move your neighbors make in their apartment, the units are POORLY insulated and FREEZING in the winter months, in the summer months the windows in the apartments do not open (they are broken and the window frames are warped), parking is terrible, and maintenance is non-existent. The office staff are nice and attentive UNTIL you sign a lease. Once a lease is signed and you move in you cannot get ANY issues addressed. Worst customer service ever. Do yourself a favor and avoid living here. read more
