It was fun to learn a little bit about her and a lot about just the nature preserve and all the little fun facts that we probably wouldn't have known otherwise. The property is lovely, and everyone at the barn is so welcoming and friendly. Everyone gets along well, and the environment feels peaceful, supportive, and drama-free. They also have roping every Friday, which creates such a fun atmosphere and is amazing to be around. There is also a wonderful trainer at the barn who is knowledgeable and caring. When I had to move my horse, Jen and everyone at the barn were still very kind, thoughtful, and helpful throughout the process. They made sure I had whatever I needed and treated me with so much respect. I still spend time around the barn because that is how welcoming they continue to be. I'm not sure it's exactly like riding a bike--but Karen made me feel completely at ease from the start. Kiwi, my horse, was incredibly patient and gentle with me. Our lesson was booked for 10 am and she was super excited. We arrived 15 minutes early and watched other kids finish their lessons and no one offered to help or instruct us where to go. Finally a woman asked who we were there for and told her the name and she eventually told us the girl we were booked with wasn't even there that day. After almost 45 minutes of waiting somebody else stepped in and did the lesson for my daughter. Once the lesson began everything was fine but if you don't mind waiting around and no customer service then this is the place for you.

The gate will be closed, so you will have to get out of the car, open it yourself, drive in and close the gate. Park to the right (watch out for horse poop). You may or may not be greeted right away, depending if the group before you returns from their ride. Our guide was friendly enough. I expected her to give us a little more instruction since the groupon did indicate "lessons." Some horses were more obedient than others, so choose wisely haha. The ride itself was pleasant. I would've wanted to go up a nice trail or hill but we just went around the neighborhood streets. I recommend this only if you have a Groupon and if you're going with a great group of friends. This is definitely for beginners. If you're an expert at horseback riding, you'll probably get bored.
