What a wonderful escape from the ordinary! And the food! Magnet. A true hidden gem in the Baja deser.

We had one of the best eating experiences ever at Kahal in Rancho Pescadero!! I can't put into words how amazing the food was. We decided to be adventurous and try the degustation menu. Eleven courses of small bites and every dish was a new experience. Mostly seafood but prepared like no other. Chef Sandro Falbo came out a few times to check on us and explain some of the preparation methods. It was a lengthy and extended experience, rather than a single meal to satisfy your appetite. Some of our favorites were the truffle Angel hair pasta with the tiniest crunchy prawns. It was so wonderful, we took an order to go. It was worth every penny and we will definitely be going back. One last thing, the staff and the ambience was fabulous. So attentive and personable. View is of course beautiful. read more

Amazing property! Incredible botanical garden, stunning views, fantastic service and great food at both restaurants. The rooms are 5 star and a magical representation of the best of the Baja mixed with the zen of Bali. Th Botanica restaurant has Balbacoa traditional bbq and a menu of unique and tasty dishes. Great place to go for a special night out. El Centro, the restaurant at the pool has fresh tuna and other fish for lunch and a great drink menu. The gardens are beautiful and I look forward to returning for the spa services. Worth the trip out of Cabo to get an amazing high end retreat. Truly the best of the Baja. Excellent staff that accommodated us at every opportunity. They all made us feel at home and like family. The amenities are outstanding and the classes, garden, and food were phenomenal. I can't say enough about the culinary experience we had there. From the earth to the belly, they did a masterful job at teaching their organic gardening system to making the most delicious meals that highlighted the unique flavor with which nature blessed their garden. Pre-paid and booked a room for $1,000. They didn't allow me to check in with my registered service dog (which is against Mexican law). They discriminate against people with disabilities. Very surprising for Hyatt to break US and Mexican law. Do not give them your business! read more

We had reservations with paid deposit to attend a wedding. Hyatt Rancho Pescadero did not inform us of the closure until September despite the deaths and investigation in June. When we cancelled our reservation they promised to refund our deposit to HYATT credit card. It is 3 weeks later and they still have not refunded our deposit. Stay far away from this place and any other Hyatt in Mexico. read more

I have found a new secret hideaway. But then again, how can it be a secret if I just told the Yelp community about it. I hesitate to write a glowing review of Rancho Pescadero simple because I would like to keep this place a secret. I spent a wonderful 8 days here in December over Christmas. The weather this time of year is quite boring - high of 80 each day and low of 65 each night - sunny with a light breeze and the occasional wisp of a cloud - every single day. Up front - this place is not for everyone. If you are coming to the tip of Baja (think Cabo) to hang out with the crowds and party, hang upside down from a pole and show your cans, walk down the street doing the Cabo Wobble, hit on members of the opposite sex for some "shenanigans" in your hotel room, watch groups of semi-naked 20+ year old coeds lying on the beach ordering buckets of Pacifico, or simply walk from your room to the Golf course - then you will be quite bored here. Don't come here. RP is outside of the somewhat sleepy town of Todos Santos and next to the even sleepier town of Pescadero. It is off the main highway and down a dirt road on the water of the Pacific. It has about 22 rooms, two swimming pools, a private beach with cabanas and palapas, a low key on-site bar, and a semi farm-to-table upper end restaurant at the entrance to the property (short walk from the main complex). There are no TV's on the property though they do provide reasonable wi-fi access. They require all guests to be 18+ and the main activity they offer is free yoga in the morning. And the ocean here is pretty rough with nearby surfing but too rough for swimming. The nearest golf course is almost 1 hour away. Prices are not inexpensive - standard rooms with mountain views start at $210/night, Ocean views start at $260, and small suites start at $305, with the large suites starting at $435. There are definitely less expensive places around. In fact a short walk from RP are a couple of casitas with a 1 minute walk to the beach that you can have for 600 pesos a night (about $42/night), and less for more than 2 nights. But there are times for going on the cheap and times for a secret hideaway with great service. The drinks at the bar run around $8 or so (not the $10 buckets of beer found all over Cabo), and the dinner entrees at the restaurant generally start at about $16 and go up from there. And since RP is at the end of a dirt road, there is really no other place to walk to from there. This all combines to make this a place of relative quiet with beautiful sunrises over the distant mountains and sunsets over the ocean, quiet beach walks, occasional interactions with the local residents, great service from the staff, and a calm friendly clientele. Each morning they provide fruit, sweet bread, and coffee/tea to your room. They have plenty of beach towels for the pool and hot tub - and to take to the beach. There is a gas fire pit in the main pool/hot tub/bar area for evening nightcaps at a warm fire. They can also build a fire for you on the beach. There is also an area for massages near the beach. it is a fairly self contained location and some of the people there don't have a rental car and spend almost the entire time at RP. We had a car so we could venture down to Cerritos for some swimming and surfing, up to Todos Santos for walking around and other dining, or even across the peninsular to El Triumpho and other locations. So as I stated, it is not the place for everyone, and I certainly would not everyone staying there. For us, it was exactly what we wanted and we truly enjoyed our time there. read more

We arrived here on June 15th, two days after the couple died from carbon monoxide poisoning. We were never notified of the deaths or the gas Leske. Hyatt and Rancho Pescadero were the least accommodating owners I've ever come in contact with. We were relocated to the cape two days later for safety. Prior to the relocation we were told we didn't need to leave because the media was just blowing it out of proportion, and there was no gas leak. They lied straight to our face. Do better, two humans died at your resort from something completely preventable. read more

My husband and I just completed a 1 week stay at Rancho for my 40th birthday. We stayed in a premium suite with an ocean view. The grounds are impeccable, tranquil and beautiful. The rooms, spa and gym are well appointed. The food in both restaurants is consistently delicious and beautiful. The biggest issue is that we had sewage/poop smell seeping into our bathroom for the first 3 days of our trip. When we realized it wasn't just lingering toilet smells and actually some sort of issue, we called the front desk and it turned out they had forgotten to install a p-trap in our shower to prevent these sort of odors from coming up through the drains. The whole ordeal took about 2 hrs to address (waiting on maintenance folks to check it out, to come back with the right tools and install the missing part). It was an inconvenience that interrupted the quiet evening my husband and I were planning to enjoy with our in-room dining service and early bed time. And we were both a bit put off discovering what we had been smelling for the past 3 days. When we addressed this with the staff and manager the next day, they offered no redress other than to move our rooms if the smell continued to be an issue. I was surprised they did not offer any comps to make up for the issue and inconvenience. Considering the prices, this was a disappointment and frankly, a surprise. The next day, we went to lunch around 2PM and our food didn't arrive until 1 hour after we put in the order for fish tacos and a tuna/watermelon salad. There was 1 other couple there. This was not unusual as we were told the resort was about 50% capacity during our stay and we were frequently dining alone or with 1-2 other parties. The server came over about 45 min into our wait to reassure us that the food was coming soon, but offered no apologies or even some complimentary chips to munch on while we waited. The next morning at breakfast, they scrambled to put our orders in quickly, acknowledging that they would put our orders in first so we wouldn't have to wait so long for our food again. Rancho prides itself on being a culinary destination with a fine-tuned attention to detail. They ask you upon booking about any dietary restrictions (I am allergic to wheat). At our first breakfast, the server greeted us by name and placed a gluten-free muffin in front of me without even asking about my dietary restrictions. Unfortunately, this wasn't always the case. I had to send back breakfast burritos on flour tortillas and a few dishes on 3 separate occasions at Botanica. During turn down service, they left 2 regular cookies every night, except for one night when they left us a single gluten-free cookie. At breakfast, sometimes you get offered a free pastry and sometimes you don't. The bread is baked fresh every night and every morning around 7:30 AM, they bring a cooler containing fresh bread, fruit and herb infused waters to your room. Sometimes, we'd get gluten-free and regular for my husband, sometimes just gluten-free, sometimes 2 muffins, sometimes 1 muffin/slice. Like I said, you get what you get, and you don't get upset here. These are minor quibbles, but since it appears the management is reading these reviews, I think it's worth mentioning so they're aware and can address how they see fit. Rancho offers several paid and free activities, which are offered at specific date/time each week and published for the guests to reserve a spot. My husband and I took advantage of all the free activities during our stay. Two of them were unexpectedly rescheduled with last minute notice and without explanation -- again, consistency is the theme! Since we were mostly spending our time relaxing at the resort, this wasn't a huge issue for us, but may have been inconvenient if we were planning on doing other activities/sight-seeing around Todos Santos (which is an adorable town). The experiences we had were all amazing (Rancho Pescadero Tour, Ceviche Making Class and Botanical Blend). Shout out to Andrea (tour) and Tony (botanical blend) and to the chef to led our ceviche making class (apologies, I didn't catch his name). The chef who lead our class is actually going to be the head chef at the new restaurant, GEM, that's opening in a few months at Rancho. He offered to email us all the recipe from the class and the recipe for any of the meals we enjoyed during our stay! Again, all our interactions were pleasant and the trip was wonderful, overall, but the bathroom issue really left a poor impression. Rancho Pescadero was by no means bad, it just wasn't top tier and polished as you'd expect for the prices. In general, we found the service throughout the hotel to be very reactive vs proactive. read more

Where do I even begin!!! This luxury resort exceeded our expectations! My husband and I took the trip to Rancho Pescadero for a romantic & relaxing getaway, and that it was! The staff members are very kind and professional. The resort encompasses a farm which includes chickens, goats, bees, and organic plants/trees, making their farm-to-table restaurant menus incredibly delicious!! This eco-friendly gem with impeccable landscaping, architectural and aesthetic designs, offers a very uniquely magical experience all around. There's a lot of innovative thinking and intentions of connection put into the creation of this place. They spa is superb and they also offer yoga classes among many other amenities and additional experiences! We enjoyed witnessing outstanding sunsets on their cabanas on the beach, and star gazing as we relaxed on our rooftop. You'll hardly want to leave the resort, but if you do, the town of Todos Santos is just about 15min away and is worth taking the trip to. Our time at Rancho Pescadero wasn't long enough and we will definitely be back! read more

If you're looking for a party this is not the place. If you're looking for great food in a very posh resort in a beautiful location, with wonderful staff and amazing amenities, this is the place. On the recommendation of a friend, my wife and I spent four wonderful nights at the resort. We spa'd, we dined, we worked out but mostly just lazed by the pool while the attentive staff provided non-stop delightful food and beverages. read more

Let me first say that I did not stay here but I might next time. This is a review for the restaurants in and outside the hotel. We stayed down the beach at Cerritos and it was suggested that we come to Rancho for dinner one night...and I am so happy we did. The grounds are AMAZING. When you take the long drive from the road you see fields of delicious veggies and often people harvesting them. The restaurant uses all of this with their meals. SO GREAT RIGHT? I don't know the name of the first restaurant off of the hotel but they are only open for dinner and you should go. We ended up going here 4 times in 3 days. 3 times for dinner and every single time I was blown away. It all tasted so fresh and you have to end dinner with the churros. We headed to the restaurant in the hotel for breakfast one morning and it was just as good. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed the view. I ordered the Chilaquiles and it was what I wanted for the rest of our trip. The staff was MORE than nice. We ended up talking to our waiter for quite some time about the area and he made our experience so much better. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place all around. What a shame. This place has so much potential but it is just not ready for prime time. I wish they had been clear about the fact that the resort is very much still under construction ( I specifically asked about this directly to the property and they said there is only construction near the new restaurant but this is not true) and also still trying to figure everything out. When I made the reservation I stressed as I always do that I am a light sleeper and need a quiet room. When we checked in everything seemed fine...until we were woken up at 6 am by an extremely loud noise coming from the room above. We called the front desk numerous times over the next 3 hours and no one knew what was going on or how to get it to stop. Only later did we find out that it was the plunge pool filling in the room above us. No one could figure out why this happened at this time. Only after complaining profusely did they offer to upgrade us which meant we had to repack everything and unpack again. They refused to give us any monetary compensation. The room was beautiful however and we thought everything was fine until we tried to go to sleep and discovered that the air conditioner was not working. They sent someone to the room to try to fix it at midnight and he was unable to fix it. They offered to move our room room again at midnight and we just didn't have the energy. Someone came to the room at 9 AM and the engineer was finally able to fix the air-conditioning. We got no phone call of apology or offer of anything again and had to call the General manager who actually accused us of lying about the broken air conditioner. When we pointed out that engineer had to come to fix it she said well we upgraded you already so there's nothing more we can do. At this point we really felt we should have gotten our money back for the night of the broken air conditioner but she was not having it. My husband finally got so frustrated that he gave up and told her we would just have to express our displeasure in a review. Only at this point did they offer us a free dinner. But it was too little too late. Additionally, there are only 3 beach chairs for the entire resort. The hotel was quite empty when we were there but I still had to go out early in the morning to get a chair. And finally...the resort is very isolated and there are no taxi's whatsoever. If you don't rent a car you are stuck. We tried to go to a restaurant that was ONE mile away and after telling us the taxi would be $30 they put an $89 charge on our bill for the one mile trip. And yes you really have to check your bill...there was another charge on our bill which was not ours. It is so sad because the place is physically beautiful , the food is fabulous and the staff (NOT management) is so nice and caring and go out of their way to try to make guests happy. This is our third time to Rancho Pescadero. Obviously we like it here. We come for the quiet charm this small hotel has to offer. We spend a majority of our time on the beach. As in many beachfront hotels there is a bar next to the pool. Unfortunately the poolside experience, whether you are eating, drinking or swimming and sunning, is marred by the horrendous, often pulsating music that is played all day long. If I close my eyes, I can imagine myself in a dark night club - the last place I really want to be when it is 10 in the morning. The hotel is tasteful and sophisticated! Why not the music? My second trip down here I made a dozen CD mixes, with music that wax appropriate for certain times of day and that would match the ages and personalities of the kind of people who come here. Unfortunately they do not use a CD player to pipe in the noise that is masquerading as music. This was a disappointment not only to me but to several of the bartenders. They too agree that the music is...how do you stay in Spanish.....Sucks! The hotel had a policy of no children under the age of 18. I like this policy. What I don't like is sitting next to my girl and listening to some musician rapping about having his dick sucked. The lyrics don't really compliment Rancho Pescadero - nor do they complement the people that come to this hotel for its understated grace. read more

Since the last lovely enclave in Cabo disappeared (The Twin Dolphin) we have been coming to this area and Rancho is by far one of our favorite places to escape the realities of urban life. The air is cool, the sun hot and dry, and the desert meets the sea atmosphere is just what the doctor orders 2-3 times a year. With plenty to read and no to-do list, I'm able to relax in a way I find challenging almost anywhere else. There are no children here -- this isn't a family getaway kind of place. Profound relaxation awaits you. I highly recommend it -- but come soon as a BIG expansion is about to happen here and it will likely never be the same. read more

I went here for the first time back in October and I have been back twice already! If you are looking for people, nightlife, activities don't go here. Rancho is relaxing, quiet, clean and a place to go to get away. The drinks are hand made, the food is delicious, fresh and organic, and the staff is THE BEST.
