I needed to replace a window opening mechanism in the house that we bought recently. It took me awhile to find a person that knew how to do it. I contacted several Handymen recommended by Angie's list, Home Advisor, Yelp, Thumbtack, and no one would be willing to do it because, they told me, they have never done it before. And that is how I met Cliston - he was the one who agreed to do it and told me that I might not need to replace the mechanism but just to repair. He arrived exactly on time, did fix the mechanisms quickly. And after that he completed a lot of different projects - on windows, variety of electrical, paint, fixing things, mounting TVs and fishing cables through the walls, repairs after someone who did not do their job properly. I watched him work - very professionally, very neat, very high quality work. FROM A PROPERTY MANAGER IN RANCHO SANTA FE: We sent Cliston a list of tasks to be done - high ceiling lightbulb replacement and painting - and specified what equipment he would need. He agreed to do the work, arrived on time for a morning appointment to do the work and proceeded to tell us he didn't have the equipment he needed, but "if I don't have it I can get it," and told us he wasn't staying to do the work because he was leaving to coach water polo until 4 p.m., so he might be back to work at night. We asked what time he planned to arrive that night and indicated we would be there while he worked. He indicated we, the property managers, were not allowed to be in the house while he worked, "That's not the way I work." When I indicated that, as the property managers, we are always at a rental when work is being done, and we would be there at night while he worked, he again told us, "that's not the way I work." One of the tasks was to paint 2 walls of bedroom base molding. They had been taped above the molding along the wall and on the carpet along the bottom of the molding to protect the newly painted walls and new carpet from the base molding paint color. He refused to paint the molding because the area had been prepped to protect the walls above the molding and the carpet below it:, "that's not the way I work." This is a person who made a commitment to do a job and didn't follow through. He showed up arrogant, unprepared and unqualified to accomplish a simple task list that he had already read and agreed to do. We are the customer. We are responsible to our clients whose homes we manage. We pay asking prices on the spot when a job is completed and we're loyal to competent service providers and tradespeople. We do not do business with anyone who feels we're obligated to allow a stranger access to a multimillion dollar home in a private, gated community without oversight - or who shows up at an appointment unprepared, then runs off to his real job or hobby. This is a man who would rather coach water polo than conduct a business like a professional. read more

Cliston was hired by my contractor to finish some work after a demo and remodel was completed at my home. I found him arrogant and unprofessional. He installed a brand new custom ceiling fan/light and blew the motor. He then tried to swap out the original remote with a universal remote which he mounted to the wall without discussing with me first. I questioned him about it, he said this is the new remote but it will not operate the fan light. Seriously? He loved to brag about himself and yet thought this resolution was acceptable. I insisted he get the original remote operable which he did. He stated if the fan or remote gave me any troubles he would replace. Well, the remote is not working fan or light properly and when I contacted him he would not return my call. I texted him and responded by telling me he refused to assist due to my lack of communication. What was appalling was when my contractor did not return his call immediately as he was out of town, Cliston sent him a letter, forwarding a copy to my office, that if he did not get paid he was putting a lien on my property. He never called me to discuss or even ask if I could get a hold of my contractor. Instead he writes a demand letter. He's an arrogant donkey! I gave him the opportunity to keep his word and guarantee his labor as he was paid in full but he elected to ignore me. This guy does not care about his customers. I'm proof of that! read more
