I had 1 personal return with 2 states and received a bill for $995 with no detail, postmarked May 20th but dated April 30th and saying that a late charge will be assessed if not received by the end of the month. I called on May 29th and left a message with the receptionist to get a call back about the bill, but never received a call back. I called back again on June 6th and explained my frustration on getting such a bill and the bill was adjusted down to $700. I am not returning back still as this is the highest I've paid for my taxes. The first version of my return was missing a deduction that we discussed and I said that I would be taking (SEP IRA contribution). Once I spoke to them, they did fix it, but that makes me wonder what else was missed on my return.

My tax consultant in Lafayette stopped receiving my calls when I was trying to get this straightened out, so I went to the Louisville location (which is where I filed my taxes in 2012). The tax consultant there was initially helpful, but when it became apparent that a mistake had been made she also stopped returning my phone calls and e-mails. They don't want to honor their guarantee I suppose. When I first came to Colorado I was traveling and working in other states, so I was told that $100 dollars was charged for each state I worked in. After I stopped traveling and just worked from home the fee for my taxes continued to go up each year. I think in hindsight I could have done a better job doing my own taxes.

When I asked for an example of strategic roadmap or for a list of what was included in it they would not give me a direct answer. They pontificated about how it depends on clients situation and said it's a heady and complicated subject. They were very prompt in sending me requests for payment after every interaction I had with them but didn't answer a single one of my questions asking what was included in their services. My experience aligns with the poor reviews here. They like to say "our teams knowledge and experience makes what we charge worth it". But I'm sorry saying that you're knowledgeable does not make it so. When they can't even show a basic understanding of what a good financial plan should include by at a minimum putting into a list what it includes for potential clients that does not instill confidence.
