Heron Hill tasting room is located about 45 minutes to the north west of the actual winery in Hammondsport. We do NOT have lake views but gorgeous vineyard views and lake hill views. The shops are open for business and it is a wonderful way to experience downtown Canadaigua and sample over a dozen Finger Lakes wines. Downtown is adorable and chocked full of wonderful shops and restaurants restaurants: art galleries, accessories, clothing, florists, toy stores...it was so much fun. I wanted it buy things in nearly every place we went. This is a great way to experience the area. Highly recommended as an excursion from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse or anywhere else. My family and I arrived to the Ravines Geneva tasting room on Sunday 5/10 (Mother's Day) at 4:43pm…read moreand upon entering were promptly told the tasting room was closed as they were closing in 15 minutes. We have previously been Ravines wine club members and frequently enjoy stopping into their tasting room for wine tasting, food and purchasing bottles. We would have happily purchased some wine to take home with us (likely a case or more) but the staff was incredibly unfriendly and unwelcoming. When I asked, for future visits, when the tastings usually stop, I was told 4:30. Ravines may want to update their website and online presence to reflect this (everything posted says 5pm close) as we were disappointed to be unable to finish our Mother's Day celebration at their tasting room. Due to the completely unfriendly welcome (customers were walking past us with fresh pours, clearly having just been served), we opted to leave without purchasing any wine - a significant loss for their business, not only in sales but also in customer loyalty. No one apologized that we couldn't be served or asked if we wanted to purchase any wine. We won't be back any time soon and will share the experience with friends so as to help them avoid a similarly unpleasant experience. We were once loyal but now disappointed Ravines customers.
