Not a pleasant visit. They were not friendly when we entered and they were not busy. No one else there. 4 other folks came during our stay. The gentleman was actually rude to my husband but was nicer to me. It was embarrassing as we had family with us who were visiting from out of the area and we wanted to show them some local wineries. The space we sat at for tasting was nice as it was raining outside and they had a gas fire pit going w ADK chairs inside / under. Tasting was with plastic cups and animal crackers. The best thing an about this winery was the chocolate lab sleeping right inside the door. The barn was cool, and the labels and names of the wine were intriguing, but the tastes were not to our liking. You got a nibble of fudge that tasted more like powdered sugar than fudge. read more

UPDATE: After posting, I emailed my review (below) to the winery, and they responded. The response was just as obnoxious as the in-person encounter. His email said, "Lies. And who uses yelp". ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Maybe their wines are good, but I'll never know because of what happened. I was on vacation in the Finger Lakes in October '24 on a personal wine purchasing trip -- my wife and I do it every 5 years. We visited 106 different wineries on the trip and brought home over 10 cases (no two bottles alike). We went to Americana to taste specific wines we were interested in to see which ones we liked enough to purchase. But instead of charging a tasting fee to taste only what we were interested in, we had to pick one of several pre-selected Flights. Each flight contained 4 wines, a couple of which we didn't care to try within each flight choice. So to taste the ones we wanted, we'd have had to purchase 4 different flights and dump the half of the wines we weren't interested in. Plus "flight" pours are about half a glass, so the flight of 4 wines is about 2 glasses total. This is way more wine to consume than someone who's driving to visiting many more wineries in a day might want to drink. Conversely, a "tasting" pour is smaller and just enough to see if you like it. So I asked the man who seemed to be running the show if we could NOT pick one of their set flights and instead pick the 4 specific wines we wanted to try. He said, "That's not the way we do it". I told him that we weren't there to sit around DRINKING; that we were there to taste to purchase and only wanted small pours for which we were willing to pay a tasting fee. He insisted we must pick one of the full flights and that there was no flexibility. So I asked, "So how am I to decide which bottles of your wine I want to buy today if I can't taste the ones I'm interested in?" His two-word answer -- "You don't". I said, "thank you" and we walked out. Now I read that the winery is up for sale. I guess you can't run a business that way and survive. Too bad Americana! Maybe in 5 years, the NEW owners will be much more accommodating, and I'll be able to support them with my dollars and bring some of THEIR wines back home with me. read more

This has got to be the most economical winery in the area. They have good wines with very competitive prices. For 10 bucks, we got 5 tastings with pairings. I've got nothing but praises for this establishment. I wanted to try couple more and they did charge 2 bucks for each which was still good. Drove up here on a Saturday afternoon for a quick drink and maybe a bite to eat. Absolutely no one inside as their cafe was closed for the day, so made use of all the seating on the second level. Wanted to warm up with a glass of red wine ($6 each) which was unfortunately served very cold. Overall strong and leaning to the sweeter side. They also have some goods for sale: ranging from fudge (good), to mulled wine kits (not as good). As far as wineries in the area went, this was definitely the one I was least impressed with. It started with the service: the one and only employee in the whole place was busy chatting with another customer and helping her check out when we walked in, and didn't start our tasting for several minutes, while we stood their twiddling our thumbs. I'm not saying she wasn't friendly - she absolutely was, but perhaps they should've had more than one employee, or get people who are better at multi-tasting. All the wines we tried were pretty decent, but not a single one really stood out - and I don't think I could say that about any other winery on Cayuga Lake. The only thing Americana had going for it, I will say, is their fudge: if they ditched the wine, and just opened a fudge shop, I'd give that fudge shop much higher marks, because their fudge was delicious. We stopped into Americana Vineyards Friday afternoon and were really charmed by the location and atmosphere. We were a group of four and got two beer/wine tastings, which seemed to be a good deal to try everything. Unfortunately they were out of a lot of the beers , so it was slim pickings. The wine pours were very very small- barely enough for two to get a little taste. We wouldn't have minded expect that another group was also getting served and receiving pours 2-3 times the size. It definitely made us feel slighted. Additionally, the person doing our tasting was rushed, disappeared for long periods between pours, and didn't even give background on two of the wines. It was certainly a disappointment and perhaps more staffing is needed! read more

The wines here are amazing! A variety of sweet and dry, red and whites, that can keep any wine lover happy. The tasting room is lovely and I appreciate how they are connected to a cafe and sell nibbles like cheese curds. I highly recommend the wine slushies--get the white and red mixed--and enjoying the views of the vineyards. Great for photo ops! The fun surprise is that there is a brewery on the bottom floor! The woman running the tasting was a little harsh with attitude but we tried to brush it off since everyone else was so incredibly nice. Off the beaten path but totally worth the distraction. They now have a brewery in the basement with excellent selection of beers. The wine is very sweet desert wine so if you're into that this is the place with a large selection of finger lakes wine. They have some heritage grape varieties that give there wine unique crisp flavors. Always get the fudge here. There is also a cafe with light fare -- this is a great pit stop to add to the wine touring to refuel and recharge. read more

This is one of my favorite wineries on Cayuga Lake. They are extremely friendly and there are such a variety of wines that you will fall in love with. It has a great atmosphere that includes a brewery and a cafe. Unfortunately, they were out of Apparition and Nancy's Hooch when I went. That will just give me an excuse to go back. read more

Wow, I did not like Americana AT ALL. If I could give this winery ZERO stars, I would. I know, harsh, right? Total deserved, trust me. The vibe at the winery from the second we pulled in was just bad. With loads of limousines and party buses, loud music, pro-bro frat boys and squealing sorority gurrrrls, it felt more like the set of The Bachelorette or MTV Spring Break. It just got worse inside. The noise level in the wine tasting area was deafening and the person pouring our wine seemed to not care very much about the wine, the winery or just about anything else that day. The wines were forgettable and for some inexplicable reason they were also selling lemonade at the wine tasting area, which required our "hostess" to pull double duty pouring lemonade in-between our tastings. The final straw was when I left to get some Ibuprofen from the car (the Americana atmosphere gave my wife an instant migrane) and returned to find that a large group had arrived at the tasting station and took over the entire tasting area before we could finish our last tasting. Brutal. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. EVER. read more

Came here for lunch and to do the wine tasting. There was a 25/30 minute wait for our table so we did the wine tasting first. At $3 a person for a tasting of 6 wines that's a steal! All of the wines were good from the white, blush, red and to even the dessert ones! They even serve slushie wine for $15, but one slushie contains "3 glasses of wine." The wine tasting area also had sampling of their homemade fudge and spreads. Downstairs has a beer tasting which I didn't participate in. Now onto the food, we ordered the kimchi fries, prob belly sandwich, and lamb burger. The Kim chi fries were so good! It was my first time having kimchi, but the cheese and brisket that was paired with the fries made it delicious. The kimchi is made in house. The pork belly sandwich was tender and paired well with the jam they had in the sandwich. I enjoyed the bread that the pork belly sandwich was on. The lamb burger was a decent portion and had a lamb taste. Server was super friendly! read more

We go on at least one wine tour on Cayuga during on our annual trip up to Lansing, usually on the west side of the lake. Americans is ALWAYS one of our favorite spots, every year, and therefore a must visit. We always love the wine, and usually have great service during our tasting and purchasing. We walk out with way too much wine that is gone way too quickly! We haven't had the opportunity to take advantage of the cafe to eat at but hopefully the timing will align soon. read more

This was our first stop on a dreary, damp Saturday that was part of the Bacon on the Lake-in wine tour promo on Cayuga Lake. Since this was more about the bacon infused dishes than the wine - I will comment on the bacon dish served here. The bacon spread on the scone was good but not the highlight of the day (13 wineries in total!). This is usually the first stop on our Wine Trail Loop (the "Parker Loop") and it is always a great place to start. I think Jon B. did a great job of describing the atmosphere: very laid back and fun, the Sweet Rosie with the fudge is definitely a must. They have an optional blueberry wine tasting (an additional $2) is very interesting. I didn't know that blueberry wine was an option. I have never been to the Bistro on site, but I've heard it is very good. Also with some nice outdoor seating, this should be a place to consider if you need to squeeze in a meal along the wine trail. Americana has the occasional live music concert in the evenings, which given the atmosphere should be a lot of fun. If you are not driving, get a wine slushie to-go before you leave. I can see why they get such rave reviews!! My fiancé and I (and our woof) went here this afternoon for lunch and a wine/beer tasting. They are SUPER dog friendly and had such delish food. Food: My fiancé ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries and he said it was the best pulled pork he has ever had. I ordered the Cuban with a side salad and have to say it was pretty darn good. Wine/beer tasting: for $9 I got to taste 6 different wines and my fiancé was able to try four samples of their craft beer. His favorite beers were the IPAs and my favorite wine was the Lemberger - a dry European red. My friends and I were contemplating whether we wanted to make the drive up here since we were staying down in Ithaca this past weekend. I AM SO GLAD WE DID. We started off with a wine tasting and the man helping us provided us with lots of information on their wine and was able to recommend different wines we may or may not like depending on our individual tastes. There was truly a wine for everyone, my favorite being the Baco Noir. Afterwards we went down to their brewery because surprise! - they make beer too. I was pleasantly surprised by this. The man who helped us with the wine also came down to serve us our beer. We ended up spending a few hours here chatting with the guy who helped us (I wish I could remember his name!!) and enjoying our drinks. At the end of our time here we went to pay and I was shocked by how much it cost. I think it was like $10 for both wine and beer tastings - and the tastings were plentiful. I questioned the guy ringing me up because I was in disbelief it could be so cheap. I also purchased a bottle of wine and some tomato sauce made with the wine I liked. They seem to be a big operation during the summer and have a lot of events. I was happy to have visited on a quieter winter Sunday, but would love to visit again. read more

The first thing that the waitress told me when I sat down was, "They make everything fresh and in house. From the ketchup to the Kim chi." I started off with Kim chi fries, which were amazing. Flavorful, the pork was cooked to perfection. The portion was huge and definitely require sharing. I also got the duck ham charcuterie, which was a good choice since the kim chi fries were filling as is. The duck ham was smoked and intense in flavor. The dipping sides with the charcuterie were sweet and blended well with the smoky flavor of the duck. Everything works well in this place. Each dish I ordered had intense yet delicate flavors. The waitstaff was amazing. And that's just the restaurant. The tasting room was equally as impressive. On the crowded side and my partner and I had to wait and rush for an opening, in the meantime we tasted the phenomenal fudge, of which all is made from an employee on site. The woman who helped us with the tasting was very proficient and knowledgable of the wine. She described each wine we tasted with vigor and gave us the perfect metaphors and images to leave my partner and me marinating on extraordinary bursts of scents and flavors. I would give t,his three and a half stars if I could. Very nice place---lovely old doggies and the food was really delicious. Eggs Benedict was a treat. Perfectly cooked poached eggs. On a thick slab of ham--would have been good to have a sharper knife, but delicious!! And on toasted thick country slices. Service was good. Not outstanding. We will get a larger table net time. Four people around what should be a two-top made for a fairly crowded meal. Grounds are lovely. And a nice tasting room on the other side. Don't let the rustic exterior of Americana fool you. Of all the wineries I visited today on the west side of Cayuga Lake, this comes across to me as the most commercial and least intimate of the bunch. They certainly have the most diverse line of products for purchase beyond wine, and they were the only one with an ATM inside. The staff guiding you through the wine-tastings, while still friendly and knowledgeable, came across as the most "choreographed," meaning they were so busy handling the volumes of people passing through they simply don't have the time to extend themselves beyond their roles. This doesn't make Americana a bad place, it simply means it's not the type of winery I would gravitate towards first, but it will be for others. Also, their wines were of the least interest to me today - again, personal taste. The lines of non-wine products includes things like fudge, sauces, rubs, and honeys. While I didn't look at them all, I hope a lot of them are local. One thing which did impress me about Americana is all their involvement with local activities, and I would assume that includes with the surrounding communities. I would also expect this to be among the busiest (and maybe most hectic) of the wineries on the southern half of Cayuga Lake. If so, plan accordingly. read more

Looked up Yelp for recos on wineries within a quick drive of Ithaca, which we were visiting on a recent weekend. Americana seemed to be well trod and reliable, so we gave it a shot. By the time we arrived very late in the Saturday afternoon (and after stopping at IBC on the way), we only had a half hour to taste. No problem. Victoria (I think) was popping corks within seconds as we sipped our way through at least a half dozen decent bottles. I was disappointed that they were out of their Gerwurtz for tastings, but otherwise, it was a pretty solid experience, with a nice Riesling portfolio and competent red varietals as well. The vineyard and tasting room are pretty and scenic, and there's a cafe on premises if you want to spend some more time. read more

2 stars for the good service at the cafe. We didn't go to the wine tasting, instead we had lunch at the cafe. The kimchi fries $12 is the signature, I would say not bad and the portion is big. I ordered lamb burger with coleslaw as side. I don't like it at all, it came with a thick slice of goat cheese with the pattie, and a pickle at the side where the base the of burger bun soacked with the pickle preserve water. Beautiful and quaint vineyard but if you told me they were pouring boxed wine I would totally believe you. Everything was extremely sugary. The only one of our tasting that I remotely enjoyed was the revolutionary red which tasted like a basic red blend. The lady serving us seems rushed and wanted us to take our trays and leave. Fantastic time! We visited on 10/28/17, making the 4 hour trek from Philadelphia for a long weekend in the Finger Lakes. We decided to make our first stop at Americana Winery and it was the best decision we've made. We entered with a group of 8, immediately being acknowledged and escorted to a 2nd floor bar that was more intimate and accommodating for our large group. Our bartender Rachel was so knowledgeable, helpful, fun, and overall the best! If visiting, I highly recommend requesting Rachel!! Side note: If visiting to sample both wine & beer-- I'd suggest purchasing the wine $ beer package... 6 wine samples & 4 beer samples for $9. If there was any place I'd go to for my last grilled cheese on Earth, it would be here. Thick, crusty buttered bread with multiple cheeses ranging from mellow to sharp, each bite is meant to be savored. I have not had better. Indoor and outdoor seating under the breezeway which connects the cafe to the winery. Very charming and their employees are friendly. It's my favorite stop along the Cayuga wine trail for lunch.
