I've been pleased with my experience at the Deli counter and usually with curbside delivery. I've only had a couple of snags with the curbside experience and Randall's worked to resolve them. They frequently send me emails apologizing and promising to do better when I haven't complained and there's been nothing wrong with my order. I'm not sure what that's about. The people who bring out the groceries and the people I've met in the deli department have all been very kind and helpful. The parking lot is pretty weird, but thankfully, the store is nearly always virtually empty. lol. read more

Great weekly specials! I hit them up mostly for meat, for both ourselves and our Dog who eats home cooked dog food. They usually have great deals on Chicken Breast, Chicken Thighs, Ground Beef, and Roasts. The Butchers can be hit or miss in regards to being helpful and/or friendly. I appreciate the fact that they still have a few self checkout lanes. I will only VERY rarely shop in stores that don't have that option. I hope Randalls keeps them, unlike one of their smaller counterparts! read more

Sometimes in order to obtain a complete set of food items, you might have to visit several stores. Today, it was the case. What was I doing at Randall's? Looking for croissant dinner rolls. It seems only Randall's carry these rolls. Interestingly, they were not in the bread section. This time, they were in the cake section of the bakery. Bread...cake...what's the common denominator? Flour...but two different types of flower. We needed two containers of the croissant dinner rolls and fortunately, they had only two containers left...score!!! It really did not matter what the croissant dinner rolls were resting only that they were in the store. Oh happy day!!! One of the Randall's team members helped me find the croissant dinner rolls, when I could not find them in the bread section. He was very helpful. It was pretty quiet in the store today. Always check your receipt... I was overcharged by $15 and then treated like a criminal when asked for a refund. I hadn't even left the store yet and was speaking with the same people who ran the register. They often miss the half-off tags, items are mislabeled, and prices don't match up with the sales flyer. This is a standard Randall's store, well stocked with essentials and fresh produce.  It is kept very clean.  Employees have also always been helpful to me. The parking lot is large with two entrances.  It is located away from a major road, so it's easy in and out. If you arrive when the store first opens, you will have to use self-check. Cashiers don't go on shift for at least an hour into the opening. read more

Went there to buy a bucket of fried chicken, fried tilapia pieces, and wedges. The Mexican lady who was helping me out didn't use gloves whatsoever. She was preparing snack boxes before handling and fried food items. Then when it came to packing the wedges, she didn't open the bag with tongs. Instead she opened it with her hand and put her whole bare hand in the bag. She didn't even greet her customers and her customer service was not great. They told me they weren't available in the store.....that I either had to order delivered or wait in my car for someone to bring the items out. What the hell?!? Really hate to leave this review but today was just a terrible experience. Picked up some bacon and it wasn't ringing up at the sale price listed. I asked the self checkout lady, Judy for assistance. Old sourpuss was obviously in a bad mood because she was immediately dismissive when I tried to explain my dilemma and cut me off (rude) and told me it was because I hadn't put in my number yet. A. She was very rude but not very observant because I had already put in my number. B. I noticed the description of the product seemed inaccurate and attempted to point this out but she was not interested. She dismissed me and pointed to the upc and said "This is the price!" And then asked if I wanted it or not. I said no. She voided it and walked off. I decided to take it back to the shelf myself because I still wanted the bacon that was on sale. I went to the back and proceeded to move almost an entire shelf of product that was in the wrong spot to find the correct one. I take the correct item to the front to continue my transaction and it still rings up the wrong price. I asked for assistance to void the item, and Judy was too busy arguing with another woman that needed help with the app. She even tells the woman at one point to go away and shop. I'm convinced that Judy has poor communication skills because she doesn't know how to use her words. I even offered to help the old lady with the app but this only encouraged Judy to try helping her again. I'm convinced it's because she didn't want to help me. So I patiently waited and so did another person for her to walk over and actually assist the self check out customers and she never came. She never came over, I literally watched the clock for several minutes. I decided to take my items through a regular check out and somehow managed to finish before she did. I choose to shop at this Randalls because it's more conveniently located but I guess I need to drive 5 miles to the store on BeeCaves Road to feel welcomed and not get stuck at self checkout with a mouthy attendant and wrong prices on products. read more

I love Randalls, they have the best butchers in town. I buy my beef, chicken, and pork here. Their beef is excellent quality and the butchers know their meat and how to cut it. Pork chops are juicy. The chicken I prefer the Open Nature brand. The veggies here are really good and fresh, you might pay more than other stores, but at least it is quality through and through. Pantry items, I will recommend to check expiration dates. I have seen some items on the shelf that are past their shelf life. Apple fritters in the bakery, the best in town! They are the first to go, so you have to get here early for those. Dietz and Watson is my favorite deli brand. I get those cold cuts here because the flavor is so good and quality is top notch! Bad customer service! Sour milk? "Too bad!" So, I don't normally shop here because it's so pricey, but I was in the neighborhood so I came in to get a gallon of milk and cereal. Fast forward to about 10 days later and I pull the milk out, to make some holiday pies......the label says "Best by: x/xx/xx" = which is two days from today! the sell by date is a few days later, so it hasn't expired yet, I go to make some pies and open the milk which is still about half full. Sour, moldy - horrible smell! I have to make pies for work tomorrow, so I run to the same Randalls and go to the managers desk and explain that this milk I bought, show my receipt- which is still supposed to be good is totally SOUR! She tells that it's "about half full" and then says, even though I have a purchase receipt, she won't exchange it. She doesn't care that it should still be fresh and good, she told me to just throw it away. Well, I'm not coming here again, and I suggest that you don't either. If they don't stand behind their products, and things go bad before the expiration date, I guess we're just SOL. Happy holidays. read more

When we first moved to Austin I thought 'Oh, what a cute little grocery store conveniently located to us!'. This place is small and quaint, it reminded me of one back home. Just kidding. It's a pretty expensive location, especially considering half their food is already expired. I learned to check the dates on everything after I noticed a couple things in my cart had expired. The little cucumbers are always slimy and once there was a giant dead spider in the bottom of the bag. Near the deli there was a sealed bag of salami that had turned gray. I've also seen gray turkey bacon and a plethora of fuzzy oozy vegetables. The Starbucks located inside doesn't generally have a long line which is a bonus, but they have messed up our drinks so consistently it's a talent. The only perk; every employee I have encountered has been wonderful and kind. Basically, this Randall's is an expensive hot mess. read more

Wow and not in a good way. I've been in here a handful of times to pick up one or two items and the workers have been friendly. Today I encountered a very rude and curt staff member and a person claiming to be in charge (not manager). I bought produce that was marked limit 2 sale ( two different products with two different signs). When they didn't ring up correctly I inquired and kept being told that it's a limit of 2. I told them I understood limit of 2 of each product, however they told me no, altogether. This wasn't some special sale, it's a sale that has clearly marked individual signs. DO NOT SHOP THIS LOCATION if you're looking for people " in charge" to calmly and clearly explain the situation and also DO NOT SHOP if you expect the clearly marked signs to be applicable because they aren't and the "person in charge" can't seem to understand how it's FALSE ADVERTISING ON THE IN-STORE SIGNS. Actually the shittiest pharmacy I have ever been to. Got a text Tuesday for my insulin after first time moving down from Dallas and using Tom Thumb. The text was to get my insulin refilled. While I work all week I came In Saturday only to be told I had to wait for it to be filled.... so I get a text Tuesday and they say it's already past 10 days on Saturday? My mother was not feeling well and asked me to pick a few things up for her at Randall's. Almost everything was a dairy product. I thought she might moo when I handed her the grocery sack. There are some deals to be had here but I find most things are higher than HEB. You have to look for the good buys. It is easy to get in and out of Randall's because it is a small size grocery store. For me, it serves as a convenience for a short grocery list. My long lists are taken to HEB. My son has purchased single roses for his lady friends here and been pleased with the quality and ribbon tying. Mom went once and then I was banned from involvement. Hah. The lines are short, the produce is fresh, they have a reputable deli, a quality pharmacy, the employees are always helpful and there is a Starbuck's counter inside. This Randall's falls into the "it is what it is" category. Even with a relatively recent remodel, this location still has a limited selection and high prices. Think of it as a large convenience store where you'll be certain to pay convenience store pricing (unless they're running a Randall's card special). read more

Everything from molded Chocolate Eclairs, slimy, smelly "fresh" lamb and rotten prosciutto, to absolutely THE rudest cashiers on the face of the planet. I cannot speak to the quality of the Starbucks in the store, because I've never bought coffee there. But, the rest of the store is overpriced, poor quality and not worth a dime of my money anymore. With the prices on everything from produce to milk so high in this particular store, you would think it was Central Market or Whole Foods, but with horrendous customer service. I do not go to the store to spend $250 simply to be snarked at by rude and crass and downright mean cashiers. Or to eat rotten, molded food sold as gourmet products. So goodbye. I'm done. Review from visit to the store located on 8040 mesa drive in Austin, TX on Sept 25. I went to visit the ladies room and was horrified that the bathroom was so gross I ended up not using it. It was also out of toilet paper and paper towels. Unacceptable. Even more concerning that it was right next to the bakery and deli. I went to customer service to make a formal complaint and waited several minutes for the manager, Maxie or Maxine, I believe was her name. She didn't see me alarmed or surprised at all I told her I would not do business here because I am not confident that the team has the proper tools to stay clean or to prepare or be around food. I told people for days about all the crap I got from her (and the bagging guy, and the lady behind me in line, who both pitched in) last year for buying beef liver, but had almost forgotten about it until she recently wrinkled her nose and asked why I was buying "these fishy things" -- gefilte fish my Aunt had asked me to pick up for her Passover dinner. Moved here from California. Was already a member of the Safeway chain, so that was a plus. We are thankful to find these stores after experiencing the nightmare known as HEB. We make a point to avoid HEB of at all possible. It might be cheaper. If it is, it's marginal in cost. But Randalls isn't crowded, which is a huge plus, especially since my experiences in HEB have been awful based on both rude customers and employees. The checkout lines are SLOW at HEB, and that hasn't been a problem at any of the Randalls stores, because obviously most everyone else goes to HEB. Randalls has brands that we're familiar with, and since we moved here from California, cost seems slightly lower, and that's also a plus. I knocked off a star because all the stores are small and cramped. Regardless, Randalls & Trader Joe's, along with Sprouts or Whole Foods will be our stores of choice. read more

Sure, Randall's is a supermarket, but I have to give a mention to sandwiches from the Deli section. They are awesome! For around $5 you can get one of Randalls' Signature Sandwiches, which are tasty and filling. My favorite usually goes back and forth between the Chicago Southsider, which is roast beef with lettuce, tomato, horseradish sauce, and cheese, and the Primo Italiano, which is ham, salami, provolone, Pepperoncini, a garlic and herb spread, and an oily olive mix. You can choose from a number of different breads such as Ciabatta or French Baguette, but my favorite is their Rustic Italian, which is chewy and substantial. For a buck more, you can get a bag of chips and a fountain drink, but I usually pass. Sometimes I will grab a handful of their potato wedges which look so good sitting in the hot display case. The staff there at the Mesa Randalls' Deli are all friendly (say hi to Ida, who'll talk your ear off!) and I have never been disappointed in any sandwich they have made. I work close by to this Randall's, so I eat there maybe once every couple weeks. It's my preferred sandwich place, much better than Subway or Quizno's IMO. read more

I only come here for last resort stuff like Milk or random candy if I'm too lazy to drive to the HEB on Far West (which is a great grocery store). I always get a weird vibe in here. At first I thought it was just me but it's consistent every time. I think it's a combination of the employees and patrons. Randall's is overpriced and the only way to get things at a standard retail price is signing up for a free membership card. Even then, not everything gets docked down to normal with a card. I have no idea how Randall's is still around in Central Texas. HEB is immensely better overall. The majority of the patrons are elderly people and random off-brand goons that somehow emerge from the backwoods of the Austin suburbs. Majority of the employees have some weird attitude, can't place my finger on it. To wrap it up, I went about 4 or 5 days ago and my cashier made a snide racial remark when he realized where I was from (it was targeted towards Hispanic people/culture). i frequent this Randall's mostly out of convenience. I can't find everything I need here but that's more than I can find at a gas station. So Randall's is like a huge convenience store. they need a more diverse organic food selection. i can't find kombucha or my favorite yogurt here. it's tragic. but the cashiers are always very polite and helpful; for that reason, i feel bad giving 3 stars; so there ya go! read more

I agree with Barron F on this place. I've been to the sandwich counter three times and its never been too crowded at lunchtime, and the sandwiches are top notch. My favorite is the one with turkey and caesar salad on it, on the rustic italian bread. It is delicious and substantial for sure, I can barely eat it all. read more

Since my Randall's (on Berkman) closed down, this has become my Randall's of choice, and I often stop here after an appointment with my chiropractor, who is close by. Many old, familiar faces came to this store, and each time I've had to ask for something, I've gotten fast, friendly help. I hadn't been here in at least five years. I couldn't remember why. I used to come here with a guy I was dating back then, and we'd usually come here to laugh. I couldn't remember why. Now I remember both. So, in my week of hell, I found myself driving aimlessly through the Mesa hills. I decided that I should probably stop and buy something since I wasn't driving a BMW or Mercedes, and the last time I drove a little too long in this area I was pulled over. Why? I still don't know, but anyway.... I see the Randall's and decide to grab some chai from the Starbucks. Upon entering I see a borderline geriatric woman, leaning on the end of a check-out line. "HI!" she barks at me without even smiling. I say "hi" back and try not to laugh. She was so angry looking, even when greeting me. For some reason, things like this crack me up, and now I remember why I used to come here for laughs. I've never set foot in this place without at least one scowl from an employee. I used to live in this area, and became accustom to it years ago. Now it's just comical. I decide to take a look around, and realized that the reason why I would come here is that at almost any given time, it is deserted. No long lines, no crowds, practically no one at all. I also realized, that pickin's are slim, and prices are high. I think each of these might be a result from one another. I got bored of looking around, lost my desire for chai, or any Starbucks product, and left. While leaving, the crinkly woman barked "BYE!" probably without smiling. Aside from a Starbucks, no lines, and no crowds, this place has a ton of parking and is easy to get in and out of. That deserves three stars, right? BYE! :( read more

I've seen this in other reviews. Randall's has become an over-priced convenience store. This location and the one on Balcones near 2222 are pretty much the same. Only redeeming quality to this one on Mesa & Spicewood Springs is it has a Starbucks. Besides that, it's old person central since they're next door to a retirement home. Both the employees and most of the customers are ancient, and I'm in my mid-40s! All that aside, they have lame selection and high prices.....not a good combo. If I need to pick up something quick on my way home, I may stop there. If I need to do a full grocery shopping trip, I'm going to any HEB in town. read more

Anycart refunded my money the day of the issue. Unfortunately Randall's is the only Austin delivery that they support currently. I'm not sure what sort of help you were offering. Pretty much everything here is overpriced, but the location is uber convenient and the location is so much nicer then the closest HEB on Great Hills. I am a fan of how helpful the employees are and how everyone seems to have gone to a customer service class to learn how to go above and beyond for customers. I do have to subtract a point for not having my Randalls card updated with my correct phone number so that I could get my discount (when I forgot my card). It is nice knowing I get frequent flyer points from Randalls discount card as well. read more
