What I like about Randall's: - nice people - good deli - convenient What I don't like about Randall's - deli and pharmacy are understaffed - they removed the self-checkout, forcing people with small purchases to use the regular checkout lines. The have express lanes but they aren't always open. When the express lanes are open, they frequently have long lines. - relatively high prices. - their "club". You have to join their "club" to get prices that aren't astronomical but Randall's "club" prices are still higher than the HEB down the street. I don't know why they force customers to join their "club" but I suspect that at best they do data mining, and at worst they sell the information to 3rd parties. There certainly doesn't seem to be any customer benefit other than not having to pay outrageously high prices. - they play games with prices. Prices for some items (e.g., soft drinks) seem to go up and down each week and they frequently make you buy several items to get the best price. I was going to give them two stars but after giving some thought to what I like and dislike I realized that they really only deserve one star. At this point the only reason I go back is that Aetna doesn't work with the pharmacy at HEB. If that changes, or if HEB installs self-checkout then I will be gone. read more

The customer service at this store has always been great. It is much easier/nicer to go into a store that isn't trying to hit you with every market. The store is clean, and easy to locate what you need. That makes it really nice for someone that 1) Does not like to shop, and 2) Is in a hurry when I am shopping. read more

I live in the Lakeway area. I must drive by a Randall's in both directions to get to an HEB, and I do. The prices, selection and produce are the worst I have ever seen. When HEB opens in Lakeway next year I expect Randall's will shrivel up and die. read more

I moved to Lakeway from Round Rock in March 2015. I shopped HEB in Round Rock even tho there was a Randalls closer. The Randalls in Lakeway is so over priced and the selection is so limited, I've started started driving almost 20 minutes to HEB, even tho Randalls is less than 10 minutes from my new home. The employees at Randalls are super friendly and their meat department is great (as is HEB), but I'm tired of paying high prices for limited selection. They can't build the new HEB across the street fast enough. read more

You can't fool me. This is not a Randalls, but a Safeway, with Safeway scratched out, and Randalls written in with red crayon :) Seriously, I felt like I was back in Northern California, including the prices! We did pick up a few bargains with club-card prices, but all in all, I think it's back to the H-E-B for me. For instance, meat seemed to be 20-50% more expensive. I did not really do much in produce. Our experience with Randalls has been very good. The cashiers and baggers are great - I always tell them I don't need help to the car but there have been several occasions where the guy getting the cars sees me out there and just starts helping load -which is really great. I also think in general everyone there is very pleasant and has good customer service skills! We have ordered several cakes there and they are very creative and help come up with ideas that 'are not in the book'. The only complaint I have is that my daughter has an unusual name and about half the time they spell it wrong on the cake. I even make a point to tell them clearly and they write it in bold on the form - but it still comes out wrong - it happened again last week. So some of the cake decorators are paying more attention to detail than others. read more

Just moved here from out of state. I was told by several people to go to HEB instead of this store because you have to watch them for expired items. Sure enough, went in real quick because I was just at the post office. Bought bread and picked up blueberry muffins. Remembered about the expiration date issue, and sure enough the muffins were 3 months expired. Started to make breakfast this morning, and what do you know--MOLDY BREAD. I will never buy another thing here, and would return the bread except it's not worth the gas or my time for $3. I'll stick with HEB from now on, even though it's too crowded. read more

Reviewing the Bakery Dept--Specifically special order cakes For 2 years we have gotten birthday cakes here. They are awesome! The cake decorators they have are truly creative. They have many different & unique seasonal cakes ready to purchase in the cases. The designs are not in "the book". They told me the cake decorator makes them up. They look awesome! So I'm really fussy about my cakes & always want to create my own or blend some designs that are in "the book". They never get fussy about that. So I found that drawing them a diagram on how I want my cake complete with the colors seems to work really well with them. I also talk to the decorator on the phone if she's not there when I order. I've gotten some fabulously designed cakes. They should keep a scrap book of some of the cakes they make. They are not expensive either. They don't charge extra for everything-like other bakeries. I had a 8 cupcake 1st birthday design done. I had 2 cupcakes for the baby smash cake & the 6 remainder for the fam. (We have 3 birthdays with in 9 days so I went with a small cake.) It was $8.99 or something & had my unique design from combining some of the flowers & this & that out of the book. We also got the big Disney Princess $40 cake. My daughter wanted the princess rings on it. They added them at no extra charge. They are really good about using the toppers that you request. They have a lot of choices for the stuff kids like-Toy Story, Princess, etc. We also get the 3 story "Diner Cakes". They can put stuff on them too-like chocolate chips. Yummy! There cakes are tasty & the chocolate frosting is especially good. The staff is usually friendly & helpful. If you get a "newbe", ask for someone else-just sayin... Check it out! You may be as pleasantly surprised as I was when I got my 1st cake there. Now I keep going back.... read more

By far the RUDEST customer service I have ever received. The cashier, Salley, rolled her eyes at me when I told her I didn't have a Randall's card. Then she handed me the card forcefully afterward. She made me feel stupid for not having one. I don't write hateful reviews. All I know is I was in a good mood before I went into Randall's, and when I left I was in a bad mood. Now that Randalls is Albertsons (except signage) we at least know why produce is allowed to spoil on the shelves, why dairy products are not removed in a timely manner, why there is such high employee turnover, why self-checkout was removed and replaced with really slow, not sure how to work the scanner check out folks. I was so happy when Randalls opened and have watched in the last year as attitudes changed and the products slowly turn to crap (fresh chicken w/freezer burn/ice, wilted lettuce, old potatos, etc.) and why when you bring this to management's attention they tell you everyone is happy with the changes now that Safeway isn't calling the shots. It's back up the hill to HEB I go and Albertsons managers, you should really pay attention to what is being said in store, out of the store, online, etc. and not pretend that the parking lot isn't a little bit emptier. read more

I am new to Lakeway so I am just glad to have a grocery store. It is a bit pricier than HEB but at least I do not have to go too far to get what I need. It is hard to find things though. I guess I may just have to work a little harder in finding the items I need. read more

It's okay. Other reviewers are right about high prices, but they are the largest grocery chain in the nation, so I guess people don't mind paying their prices. I just got into extreme couponing and Randalls is one of the places where you can stack some good deals. Their meat is fantastic. They have great cuts. I do like how NO one is there, at least for now. Unlike other stores, I can shop here and read labels without being run over. I'm sure that'll change soon once all the stores around there finish opening. As far as quality, don't expect higher than HEB. I purchased a salad from there and found a hair in it. Mistakes happen, but no excuse not to wear a hair net. Disgusting! read more

This location is nice to shop at. Clean, usually get in and out of quickly..However, very rude, uncaring lady in "Customer Service" Department. My daughter lost a quarter in their candy machine and I asked her about it. she basically acted like she didn't care and refused to help us out in replacing the quarter. I know its just 25 cents but my daughter was so sad because that's all she had. A little caring from the customer service department would have made ALL the difference and then this review wouldn't have been posted...! read more

I go here daily. I buy groceries, of course, but I also buy gas, have all my prescriptions filled, buy beautiful flowers and great wines. I enjoy buying their fresh meat and chicken. My friends are always amazed at the taste, quality and price of their goods. I enjoy their Gelatto bar, especially the dark chocolate. I sometimes go early in the morning to buy their freshly made bread. I also count on the bakery to make cakes for my dinner parties. They made a Tres Leches this past week. I love their sales. I have bought a whole set of white square dishes and also a set of a floral design set of square dishes that were marked down 75%. I have run to the store to buy simple items like a cupcake pan and I'm so thankful they have it. I also buy my bathroom supplies like soaps, shampoos, and lotions. My guests are so surprised at the unique items, such as their South African theme line, with wonderful hand soap and facial bar. Lately, I have been buying wedding magazines for my daughter wedding and Randall's has more in inventory than the bookstore. I like their card shop. I always do self check out because I find it quicker since I know my way around the store. Some of the employees know me by name. That's sweet. Also, I like that I can vote here. The store is clean, including the bathrooms. Their staff are always asking to help. In fact, the butcher walked me to the vegetarian barbecue rib section. That was really thoughtful and I was happy they had them. read more

The manager,Byron Brashear, is the nicest guy and personally greets each customer with a warm smile and handshake and always seems to know everyone's name. Customer service in 2016 is terrible, but this Randall's reminds me of the way it used to be and how my grandparents were. read more

I had to come to Lakeway to take my elderly dad grocery shopping. I chose Randalls because he told me he had to pick up his prescriptions there as well. I was appalled at the prices. Item after item was so inflated, even with his Randalls card. Who has time to sift through coupons and they are only good if you use the item you have a coupon for. He picked a handfull of items that came to over $70, almost half of his monthly budget. I agree it is for the Lakeway population not on a crunched budget. The store will do well because Lakeway has plenty of that population. But, I will have to take him to HEB from here on out. I agree the lines are longer, the frustration higher, but at least he will be able to eat from one pay to the next. I do give it a few stars for the nice employees and clean store. read more

This is my very first time ever using yelp to rate service but I truly just had the worst experience at this Randall's pharmacy. My mom just went through breast cancer and is now having to get many prescriptions following her surgery. We went to go pick up her prescription and this tech was so rude, I couldn't believe it. It was like she was annoyed that we had to pick up a prescription. Trust me, we wish we didn't have to pick up any prescriptions either. I wish I remembered her name so I could report her, the best I can do is describe her: she was tall, had long black hair and very round cheeks. My mom said she would have said something to her supervisor (the woman with the box-colored orange hair) but apparently she's even more rude than this other lady (so this is not a one time, "had a bad day" thing). Overall, it was an AWFUL experience. I work in a doctors office and I totally understand that working with people that are sick is not always easy, but never have I ever been this rude to someone for just asking to pick up a prescription. I suggest they find another job that doesn't involve patient care. Hopefully, someone above them will address their nasty, hateful behavior. read more

I'm from Southern California and we ended up purchasing a home in the Lakeway area. We are very very close (in The Hills) to Randalls. I found it to be EXCEEDINGLY expensive. Even more expensive than Gelsons in So Cal. Yet, I go there almost on a daily basis because of the convenience. I just finished speaking with their butcher ... asking him to make thin chicken kabobs for me ... he said that he didn't do that ... but then he suddenly said, okay, I will do it for you. And he will have them ready in time for my Christmas party. So, customer service receives FIVE STARS for sure; however, their prices are completely out of control. They should lower their prices ... we may have $$$ in this area; however, we still don't appreciate being ripped off!!! read more

Stephen this ones for you! I waited at the deli counter for over five minutes. there was one hipster ordering buffalo or some other exotic meat at the deli. I waited and waited. A father/son walked up and waited beside me. Stephen came out and asked the father/son how he could help.When I protested Stephen said in a loud voice, "they were here first!" I was shocked! I'm not used to customer service where an employee directly challenges a customer. Stephen continued to argue with me and presented a smirk as he talked. Very weird! Luckily Sean from management rescued me from deli purgatory. I was out of the deli in 15 minutes. I will not return to the deli service with Stephen or his female assistant who offered no apology, but did give her version of the Stephen smirk. I'm now sure how Randall's does it. They have a 30% sale on all wine and it is still more expensive than HEB's regular price. What I buy regularly at HEB for under $9.00 is over $10 with the 30% off. That is true for just about everything in the store. read more

So, this isn't really against Randalls but the Starbucks in the store. Went there this morning and there is a new barista and she is horrible!!! My coffee isn't even drinkable and I ordered a vanilla sweet cream cold brew. Kinda hard to ruin that but she did. Then, ordered a grande dark roast in a Venti with ice cubes. Not even sure if she put enough coffee to make it a tall. Very very disappointed and upset. No time to go somewhere else... So, throw out my coffee and waste of money. read more

I have just made my last visit to Randalls in Lakeway. After spending over half an hour trying to locate an item, after approaching three different store employees who fled the scene like frightened rabbits the moment I looked as if I needed something, the idiotic "self-service" checkout didn't work (it has not worked the last three times I went there, so this is it). The entire reason for self checkouts is to avoid the wasteful interaction with undertrained employees who don't know how to operate their registers. If it doesn't work and someone has to come over to straighten it out, what is the point of having them? The only reason I ever went there is that it is close to home, I will be driving the extra few miles to HEB from now on. read more

If you coupon, THIS is the grocery store to shop, NOT HEB!!!!! The problem that most people have is that all the grocery stores can have seemingly high prices. If you learn the sales cycles and how to time them with coupons, you will save far more shopping at Randall's than HEB. Also, if you use a club card you will earn additional rewards/savings, which most people don't fully understand or use to their advantage. read more

I worked at the pharmacy in Lakeway before it was moved across the street. I wanted to learn to be a technician.I was an impressionable girl. I was stuck behind the counter with a bunch of management with bad attitudes. They end up cutting my hours until I couldn't afford gas to get to work. I then volunteer without any form of training to work in frozen foods and in the small floral area to get hours. Finally I leave. Years later i secure a position at the floral dept at the store in Cedar Park. I find out that my hours were cut when I was working for Joe Lowe because I repeated a statement he made many times in front of me..."About the prices being higher at Randall's to pay for the fancy wood floors." I took the fall for him. He cut my hours without telling me what I possible did wrong and then working at the floral on Cypress Creek the now retired floral manager there scolded me for missing work bc i was upset that my aunt died at the young age of 52 of brain cancer. The management stinks and for Joe to let me take the fall for the negativity he brought to work was wrong. read more

the store is a typical randalls store. my problem here is the starbucks. the first time i ordered 2 venti coffee fraps and the bigger brunette lady had a bad attitude and rolled her eyes when i used 1 free drink coupon. when we received the coffee fraps, it tasted funky and there was no coffee taste. the 2nd time i came in months later and ordered a green tea frap and the young asian looking gentlemen with the glasses handed me was drink which was pee yellow. This was NOT a green tea frap and he remade two times again winging it. he obviously did not know what he was doing and i had to tell him how to make the drink. I worked at starbucks in the past for 3 years and i know this is a franchise sbuxs...but this place is so horrible they did not know how to make any of the drinks. I asked the young man if he had a book or guide with the drink ingredients and he said no, they used to but they can't find it anywhere. never getting starbucks from this randalls ever again. read more
