To start things off and not to be snobby, I wish there would have been a sign on location or even from the site saying"cash only". It delayed the time for me to get my cut as well as being a quick service. When going to a barber you would think a nice straight razor would be used for precision especially with all the clippers and everything laid out, instead the barber that took care of me used a 2 blade disposable razor and didn't even have the decency to clean my neck up after raising it a little which I still had to fix when getting home. His hand was a bit shaky as well. Thankfully my head or face aren't cut up but it's really a disappointment Honestly I don't see myself going back. Jim is great. He's knowledgeable and honest. You know he's honest because his deliverable is...less than diplomatic. I love it. I came here after going to the same barber for a while. One of these expensive places where I'd get offered well whisky I didn't want and I'd have to entertain an untrained dog they kept around because it's edgy. I wasn't happy with the haircut there. It looked fine after the cut, but required a lot of maintenance: goop and comb and goop and comb. Then it grew out poorly and required lots more goop. Jim saw me and right away said "Who did this to you?! How am I going to fix this?!" Then he groaned a lot. It was great. He worked with me, offered suggestions, we talked through options, and I left very happy. He was even happy! Best part is that the cut now makes sense for the way my hair grows. It looks better with no taming necessary. I've been going to see him ever since and have no reason to look anywhere else anymore. read more

There are a dozen other places I can go that want my business. The crusty act he puts out only goes so far and I think I'll keep looking for a business that acts like they actually want to succeed. I've been going to Jim for a few years now. I've been happy with my haircuts and we always have a good, honest conversation whenever I drop in. I think folks should just be aware that he is very old school. Wow, great service! I saw Isabel last Sunday for a walk in. I was quickly greeted and scheduled an appointment, the same day. I have an under cut and frankly going to a regular hair salon is a rip off, I usually just need to be cleaned up and don't need anything else. But when I go to a regular hair salon they want to charge me for a full hair cut... I was beside myself at how inexpensive it was. Best place to get a haircut. I got real fine hair and most barber won't even take the time to cut it right because it takes longer than people with thicker hair. Hit or miss Is what I've found I've had my hair cut here many times by three different employees. Nothing to write home about. I keep going back because it's close to work and the things they say leave me in stitches. I have also had my beard cut there twice. I would not recommend them touching your face. Jim, I believe is the manager, he is bit of a dry character. Very coarse and not friendly in the slightest. Example: I walked in for my fifth hair cut from him and I sat down and he remembered me as the "guy with the f***ed up mole on his head" not the way you want to be remembered, but whatever. If you're tired of visiting the chains, or not happy with your stylist, I highly recommend Randolph. I always get a good cut, plus where else can you get your neck shaved with a straight razor? They do service by old-school rules, which means that you are not "next", you are Ray, or Bob, or John, in my case. They're prices are the same as a chain, without the feeling that you're interrupting their day. Best prices on products, as well. Jim is a direct cuss, but absolutely competent. They are now open on Sunday's, and I prefer to go then to see Isabel, who is the best I've seen in years. She listens and then is meticulous to give you the cut you wanted. Yesterday was my first time visiting this establishment, and I can say unequivocally it was the worst haircut I've ever had. The female barber that cut my hair left lines all over from what I guess she thought was a fade. The top was cut uneven. I had to immediately leave and go to Legends Barbershop and Shave Parlor to have them fix it. The barber there was in shock how bad the haircut was. This place has been around almost as long as I have been. I've always lived near it but never did try them until today. As my regular barber (Joe at Shear Style in F.P.) does not work Sundays I thought I would give this place a shot. The young woman (Isabel) was most pleasant and gave me a fine haircut. The price was most reasonable and she did not hurry. During my short wait I enjoyed watching a large HD TV and noticed a nice collection of reading material on hand. The seating area was very comfortable and the décor in general is a nice mix of old-timey and modern. Joe ends his hair cuts by saying "Whoa; you look just like-a the Fonze!" I'm going to miss that guy. All in all, I would say; if your looking for a great haircut on a Sunday afternoon at a decent price, Isabel at Randolph St. Barbershop is who you want to go to. read more

I received the worst haircut in all of my 42 years at this establishment. I came in on a Wednesday in the middle of the day and the place was empty. The barber was eating an orange and seemed annoyed that I had decided to spend money at his place of business. This was compounded by the fact that the barber was highly critical of the last haircut I received (which I actually thought was pretty good) When I sat down in the chair he asked if I had gone to sport clips or some other chain barber. Not that a standard male haircut should take that long, but he was done in about 4.5 minutes. He used only clippers (I have a full head of hair), and did not clean up the back. He didn't even brush out the hair he had cut so I was shedding the cut hair until I could take a shower to wash it out. The end result was a totally uneven cut with obvious mistakes. For the record, I never write yelp reviews, but am still so disappointed with my experience a week later that I would like to warn others. Incompetent, lazy, and rude are the three words I would use to describe the "hair artist" that gave me my cut. On the plus side it was cheap ($18) although I wish I could get back the $6 that I tipped him and I really don't need the money. Will never go here again. read more
