Thankfully I had good advice from friends and family about real estate, location, and moving. But one thing that people don't mention enough are mortgage brokers. Mortgage brokers can easily make or break the whole home buying process. Thankfully, I was introduced to Suyny at American Pacific Mortgage. From the initial conversation, she kept it honest with me: about her take on interest fees, her strategy on closing quickly, and how to get started. She's a great listener and this goes a long way when you don't really know what questions to even ask. I had gone to Suyny in the process of shopping for mortgages so I actually told her that I'm getting a better deal elsewhere. She appreciated my honesty but taught me that there are reasons to take time to compare both the quantifiable and qualitative factors. In the end, she was able to lower my rate (she made sure to monitor the rates for a drop and call me asap, no other broker monitored - they simply said that I had to go to them when I saw the rates decrease) and lower my PMI. Of course, there's only so much they legally do. We were able to close in a little over two weeks. Her document submission process was so simple and she was VERY responsive! Getting approval for our loan and the company's preparation of closing documents took an enormous amount of time! Finally we signed on the last day of our Real Estate Purchase Contract Agreement, but it turned out documents had been prepared with the wrong closing date, making all documents invalid. Thanks to our Realtor going to bat for us, the documents were redrawn and we did close but with only minutes to spare! Overall, we found the loan process frustrating but figured ours was probably an exception and not the rule. When our daughter and her husband wanted to refinance their home recently, we recommended they work with a local lender. Because of his reputation, we recommended they talk with Shane. A few frustrations were encountered by them as well. FIMC didn't lock her in on the first day, even though they had said YES to the loan, so by the time they did the lock a few days later, the rate had increased. The "loan file" changed hands multiple times and as a result she was asked to submit the same documentation multiple times because of it. (We also had that same type of experience with our loan!) Days would go by without her questions via email being answered or getting a response to messages left by phone. Within a month after contacting First Security Bank loan department and a hassle-free experience, their loan was approved and they got the type of financing they desired. I commend Shane for contacting me regarding my review and wanting to set things right. Maybe our experiences were just difficult cases beyond their control. I guess time will tell.

We had to use them or would have lost the house trying to find another broker so near to closing. Once paperwork signed, Kiel became non-existent. Salesmanship to get your business - 5 stars Follow up - 0 stars Support - 0 stars Ask yourself if the Branch Manager is like this what about the rest of the employees. The problem: we tried to use gift funds on down payment.
