Although I must rate this facility as one star, I want to give them credit for solving the electrical issues with my vintage car when no one else could, after several trips to anther facility. My issue was with a lack of honesty on their part about a mystery oil leak that I wanted them to check out. I do not own a lift, and I'm at the point in my life where laying down on a concrete garage floor (even on a creeper) is not desirable particularly, without a spotter nearby for safety reasons. The oil was leaking in an odd area on the front passenger side a few inches away from the engine block. By the time they got around to "allegedly' checking for the source of the leak, they then told me that it was the rear main seal. I have owned enough vintage vehicles to know that sometimes a leak can travel from its source of origin i.e. side of engine block, cross member, etc. and drip on the floor in an area away from the engine block, but their assertion that it was the rear main simply did not add up. At any rate, I was told it had to be taken somewhere else and have the engine pulled to fix the issue. Since I have an interested buyer for the car, I was encouraged to renegotiate my price, as the repair could go easily beyond $1,000.00. I took the car home and planned to have it looked over at a facility with the expertise for this type of repair.in the interim, I discussed the issue with other car collectors, and they could not understand Randy's assertion either. I decided to run the engine, as I was determined to find this leak as best as possible, concrete floor be dammed. I noticed for the first time a wet spot on my torsion air bar, which was located underneath the bolt on oil cannister on the side of the engine block. The oil had been running down the bar to the front suspension, and then dripping on the floor. I took a 7/16 wrench and easily snugged it tight; problem solved! The verdict was they did not even bother to investigate the leak, or they would have found the source themselves. So why should they go out of their way to lie about such a thing? I would hate to think of this happening to someone with absolutely no auto knowledge being taken to the cleaners for what would have been a very expensive, unnecessary repair. I could have respected them more if they had told me that they did not have the time or desire to investigate the leak instead of lying about doing so. read more

My first experience at Randy's was great, but after that, I've been terribly disappointed. Check engine light was flashing, so I took it in to get checked out. Codes were indicating a fuel injector misfire. They kept my car at Randy's for several days before they even looked at it, said that codes on Volvos were different so it was hard to diagnose, but they did not even bother looking at the engine. Randy told me all it needed was some fuel injector cleaner, so he had put that in my gas tank and that was $40 plus labor. Sure enough, a day later, my check engine light was on again. Took my car to my mechanic at home, and the problem was more serious and I had them fix it for me. Had my sunroof smashed in by a vandal, and took it to Randy's to get fixed after calling to make sure that it was something he could do. Dropped my car off and left it with him while he searched for the part. I had to call the shop every few days to find out what the status was, because they never updated me without prodding. Finally, after a WEEK of holding onto my car, they tell me they can't get a hold of the part, and that even if they did, they can't find someone to do the work. Wait....what??? Can't FIND someone to do the work? Yeah, apparently it's not something Randy was capable of doing and he was going to send it out to be fixed somewhere else from the beginning! I do not appreciate being misled. I had to take it to the dealer, where they fixed it and did a beautiful job and I've got a warranty now. (Outrageous price, but whatever. At least they DID the work.) My FINAL time taking my car to Randy's was for an oil change. It was just over $40 for the oil change (I provided my own filter), but then as they're swiping my card I see this random $3 charge for "fluids" - what the heck? "Oh, that's standard, you were low on wiper fluid, so we top off your fluids and then just charge you for that. We always do that with oil changes." Sorry, you can't just charge me for something I don't ask for. I'm certainly not paying 3 extra bucks for some wiper fluid, when I can refill my own at home with my gallon jug that only cost me $2.75. Ridiculous! She just kind of shrugged her shoulders at me when I told her I had wiper fluid at home and didn't need them to "top off" my reservoir. I had to ask her for my $3 back and finally she credited that back to me. No more Randy's for me. I'm not sure what it is about this place. Perhaps it's because I am young? They assumed I was a student at the College, and probably assumed that my parents pay for everything, which isn't the case. Regardless, I appreciate honest people who will do a thorough job diagnosing and solving my problems without charging me for unnecessary things (the overpriced fuel injector cleaner and wiper fluid). We took our BMW here 6 months ago to fix an electronic issue with the back window. The window would not go up. After being fixed by them, we used the window a couple of times over a 6 month period, and the same issue occurred. After calling all day to get through to them, they said they were too busy to look at it today and could not guarantee they would look at it tomorrow. That is a major issue since it's supposed to rain. They should guarantee their work and fix it asap. Will definitely not go back there. read more

I am a 73-year-old female who has been using Randy for the past three years to service my 2005 element. His knowledge and experience has kept this vehicle in wonderful shape, with minimal expense. I have found him to be extremely professional and a very trustworthy. I would never think about second guessing any amount of work that he might suggest. That cannot be said for some of the mechanics that I have had in the past. In ending, I need to say, very important to a customer, that his office manager, Heather, Will make you feel as though you are the only customer from day one. I was in town for the day with my family to visit Gettysburg. As we were leaving, the car's (2008 Toyota Highlander) steering and electronics went haywire. I limped it into Randy's late in the afternoon, 400 miles from home, and with kids eager to get home after several days on the road. Randy diagnosed the problem was the alternator. He ordered the part right away, got started on the repair early the next day, and we got home the next evening. He didn't over-charge even though he knew he had a customer that would have paid just about anything to get back on the rode. The car performed flawlessly. Randy and Heather couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They recommended a hotel and Randy even drove us there knowing we were in a real tough spot. We took an Uber back to his shop, but he had offered to pick us up. Cannot recommend highly enough!!! read more

I get it---I'm leery of mechanics. I've just always felt like I was getting band aids on my work here and not thorough repairs. I had the head gaskets replaced (and all affiliated belt work, etc., to the tune of $2k) done on my Subaru here in June 2014, and here we are a year later and they have blown again. Awesome. A repair like that should last another 100,000 miles. In fact, Randy said it would. But here I am, less than 10,000 miles later, and I'm out $2,000. You might get bandaid repairs fixed here, and that was okay for a while---but I wouldn't trust them with another big repair. read more

This is my hometown mechanic. I have had a handful of problems with my truck that were fixed here. I've always had a positive experience from the lobby to the mechanics. Randy does a thorough job on everything. Seems he is always busy, so if you don't have an appointment, you might wait a while. That's fine with me though. This company is the WORST! Four months ago, I had it towed in asking to replace a fuel pump. I told them exactly what was wrong with it I got attitude from the start and after I gave them a credit card they agreed to perform the work. I called a dozen times asking for updates.... They never ever called me back. If I was lucky enough to get Randy, he did a song and dance about being "busy". Finally two months ago, he says... "We looked at it, and it needs a fuel pump"..... REALLY???? Two more weeks.... I called and "We're having a hard time finding a tank". (Apparently mine was corroded.... Or so they say....) I ordered the part in five minutes and had it sent to them..... They did NOTHING for another two weeks...... I had someone scheduled to transport it and called them to make sure it would be ready..... The guy shows up today, they did NOTHING to the car......... It cost me another $150 to have it winched on to the trailer.... This place is the WORST!!!!! Randy, I'd like to know how you stay in business..... read more

The first time we took the car to get fixed there they were really helpful. This past time we took the car there it took over a month for them to look at the car and then we had it back for 2 weeks and it started to over heat. I called to see if they would be able to look at it that week if I had it towed back to them and they said says. It has been almost 2 weeks and they still have not looked at it.
