I will never set foot inside this doctor's office again. I had waited over 6 months to get an appointment. When making the appointment, I didn't feel like I needed to divulge all the reasons why I'm coming to see a doctor to a RECEPTIONIST, so I said I'd like to speak to her about some dermatitis. When I finally had my appointment today, the office assistant was quite adamant that I could only speak to her about the ONE thing I came to speak to her about because they had only allotted enough time for that. So, the doctor just absolutely refused to talk to me about ANYTHING else. It was a serious mind-fuck. Isn't a dermatologist supposed to check your moles or something as part of a routine visit? I felt completely rushed and disrespected - it really ruined my day. And the worst part is that they were so nice and pleasant about the whole thing. I get it. Doctors get paid for procedures they do, not to listen to you complain about how you don't like your complexion. This one will probably be more interested in me when I'm 40 and wanting Botox or skin resurfacing or whatever the fck the bored housewives of Arlington get for their bdays. This was a real disappointment. After reading reviews about a doctor who listens, I experienced something altogether different. read more

Dr Hirsch does not strike me as the type of Doctor you select for a "routine visit". The woman is renowned for cosmetic and laser dermatology, which is why I waited for an appointment. In my case, I decided to see Dr. Hirsch for laser hair removal and a general consult about what daily facial skin regimen would be best for me. The woman is adorable. She is full of energy and possesses a staggering wit. More importantly, she is devastatingly blunt. If what you want is unrealistic, she is going to tell you, and I think that is an extremely important characteristic for someone in her field. Luckily, my expectations were feasible, and after a thorough chat about my skin and what over the counter products I could use to keep me looking younger longer (which, although admittedly rather expensive, have been working like a charm!), I was ushered out to schedule the actual appointment for my procedure. The ensuing appointment was just as great as the consult. I am sure I looked slightly nutty in protective eyewear (lasers are bright!), a medical gown, and a hair cap. Yet somehow, Dr Hirsch put me at ease. She even gave me a stuffed animal to hold on to during the procedure. The day after the procedure I was surprised by how red the treated areas looked. It was a little scary! I called the office and the office manager took my information. Soon after, Dr. Hirsch rang my phone and walked me through my concerns. The redness was normal, but she was never condescending, and she even called me each day for 2 days thereafter, just to make sure I was doing well! And the results of the procedure?.... SO GREAT!! I will definitely consult Dr. Hirsch for all of my dermatology and cosmetic concerns in the future. read more

I love Dr. Hirsch! She is a fabulous doctor who will do everything necessary to get you the best result possible for your skin. She gives great advice on what will and won't work for you, so that you're not spending unnecessarily or heading down the wrong road. In addition, she is gregarious, funny, and just a pleasure to be around. I enjoyed my visit on a professional level - because she helped me find a solution for the issues I was concerned with - but I also really enjoyed the company of Dr. Hirsch and her assistant. Every person I've come into contact with in the office is pleasant and extremely professional. They are really nice folks who do their jobs very well. Like other posters, I also waited a bit for my initial consultation (two months in my case). But that just told me that Dr. Hirsch is in high demand. And now I know why. But it bears noting that the wait for appointments after the initial consultation (so after you are "in") seems to be much, much shorter. read more

Dr. Hirsch is a dermatologist with the most well-run medical practice I have encountered. Yesterday, when I went in for a follow-up visit, I was in and out in less than 15 minutes! When I called for an initial appointment, her friendly receptionist explained that there were no openings for 3-4 months, but immediately offered to put me on the waiting list. (It ended up taking less than a month to get in.) Dr. Hirsch's website lists all sorts of fancy cosmetic procedures, but you can also see her for run-of-the mill problems as well. She must have someone great doing her PR, since her walls are literally decorated with magazines she has been featured in, including Boston magazine and Oprah magazine. Her office is incredibly adorable, with a real sofa in the waiting room and purple walls and purple chairs in the examining rooms. On my last visit, I was greeted with a bottle of Poland Spring and departed with a bag filled with sample products. This has to be the most fantastic medical experience ever! read more

the best dermatologist around! I have been going to her for years. She doesn't give me any shit about tattoos and is strait up about everything. She's very personable an the staff is all around nice and cool to deal with. I do not feel like I am in a doctors office or dealing with a doctor at all, until she spews out all her suggestions to me. And yes, leaving with a big bag of samples doesn't hurt!!! read more

Recently, I saw Dr. Hirsch. First of all, her office was well run and efficient. It wasn't like a normal Dr.'s office (shabby, stale, curt staff, etc..). The place was really attractive, spotless, and pleasantly decorated. I was offered bottled water while filling out my paper work. Obviously, if the Doc cares enough to have an office that looks like that, she cares a lot about her practice. Dr Hirsch knew her stuff- that's for sure. She gave me a thorough summary of my skin condition, following my examination, running it down point by point and making the most of my visit. I appreciated her level of energy and preparedness upon my arrival- I hate being stuck at the Dr. office all day. She made it clear that no one's skin is the same, and that it's important to her that I contact the office with any questions later on- if need be. Now I'm realistic and I know Docs aren't magicians. As with all of my physicians, I know how important it is to communicate my concerns before or after appointments if need be, so that they can work with me in maintaining my health or managing any further concerns. If you don't maintain communication with a Doctor when something unforeseen occurs, you probably have a wrong idea about the nature of health care in general. I had my 3rd appointment with Dr. Hirsch last week & would recommend her to my friends & family. She is extremely knowledgeable & good at what she does. I've seen her for a variety of skin issues & been pleased with the results. Plus, she has an amazing since of humor which is refreshing. Her receptionist & assistant were very pleasant. Her office is relaxing with good music playing & has a huge bowl of free skin product samples to grab! I take public transportation & there is a bus stop less than a block from the office. read more

I beg you...SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME!!! Okay. Here's the dish: I went to Dr. Hirsch for some basic care. I found her info online and, at the time, she had some positive reviews on Yelp. I was a bit put off by the $200 fee just to talk with her, but whatever, sometimes beauty costs, I figured. I got there, waited, and when they finally brought me into the examining room she came in wearing FILTHY scrubs...FILTHY! To make matters worse, she was talking a mile a minute and didn't listen to a word I said. She barely glanced at my skin!!! She's with me, yapping a mile a minute for all of three minutes, leaves, doesn't ask if I have any questions, and that was the end of my $200 visit with her!!! Her assistant then came in and gave me a bunch of prescriptions with instructions. I figured, well I might as well start on the meds and see what happens. Within a few days my face looked like a war zone...it was a nightmare! So I made an appointment with a derm at MGH to undo the damage. He was fabulous and explained that the Retin-A she gave me was the "atomic bomb" of all Retin'A's...that it was great and very effective but way too strong for most individuals. I would recommend MGH to anyone, but please, please steer clear of Dr. Hirsch. I understand that everyone can have an off day, but this was just wrong and unfair. read more

Was so excited about going to see Dr. Hirsch. I'd waited 8 months for this appt. When I got there they told me it was the wrong time (no way, I am obsessively anal about these things), and since they do not call patients to confirm, I was screwed. Despite me having a history of malignant melanoma in my family, they said the best they could do was give me an appt in 5 months! Dr. Hirsch couldn't even spare 15 min. to check a mole for me. They had the audacity to tell me that I could use her name to get into another Dr's office sooner! I think this Dr. is a little too "Hollywood" for me, and since that's where I'm from, I'll go back and get the REAL celebrity derms...if that's what I'm really looking for. read more

Dr. Hirsch's practice is a well oiled machine, for better or worse. Positives: She has Saturday appointments, you're in and out within 15 minutes, she's fun, very knowledgeable and spunky. Negatives: I've probably spent a total of 10 minutes with her after 3 appointments. She doesn't examine my skin very closely or ask a lot of background questions. She's quick to write prescriptions and at times it seems like a case of trial and error or shooting from the hip. I have to chase her down through her assistant to ask a follow up question. I expect if I had come in with a condition that was more complex, she would have taken more time with me. As a previous reviewer mentioned, Dr. Hirsch obviously has a great publicist because her walls are covered with articles where she's been quoted in woman's magazines. Perhaps the fame has gone to her head and she's forgotten the importance of bedside manner and showing the patient how much she cares. Bottom line: If you're looking for convenient hours, snappy service, and an entertaining visit - she's your girl. If you need someone to hold your hand, look elsewhere. read more

My experiences with Dr. Hirsch and her office have continued to be very positive. She and her staff do an amazing job at listening to your concerns and readjusting your treatment plan when needed. There are no miracles in dermatology (at least none that I've experienced!) but I can finally say that thanks to this office I'm pleased with the condition of my skin. It's also reassuring that I know the Dr. will see me herself, as soon as possible, if anything happens and I need to schedule an appointment. read more

I like that because I feel like she's really on top of the latest research in her field. She gives a lot of great suggestions & is very warm and friendly! Dr. Hirsch is the dermatologist you want to see. She is clearly current on the latest dermatological and cosmetic dermatology procedures, She is knowledgeable, thorough and honest. If she thinks a procedure is unnecessary or there is a cheaper alternative, she will let you know so you don't waste your money. The office is spotless and medical practice extremely well-run and professional. A bonus is that you always leave her office with product samples. read more

Saw her with the other bridesmaids for a wedding I was in. When I was just leaving the visit, I was prepared for this to be a bad review because she did not really do most of the things I asked her to. However, in hindsight (I saw her now over a month ago)....I really appreciate how she listened to what I had to say, made me show her exactly what was bothering me in the mirror, and then tell me NOT to do what I thought I had come there for. She explained that the shots I wanted would leave me looking overdone, not natural as I wanted. She told me about a different sort of shot (less than half the price I thought I was going to pay) that she thought was a better fix for my face. Told me all about products I should use - and her reco's were all like CVS type stuff and not spendy, which I really appreciated. I have to say, she really exceeded all of my expectations of a dermo and her staff was super cool also. I have recommended her to other friends and will totally come back. Dr. Hirsch is fantastic! I originally went to see her for terrible sun damage - I had done a lot of research and found out that she is one of the renowned leaders in laser surgery, which is used to treat sun damage, among other dermatological issues. During the first consultation she spent a lot of time with me and explained the best course of treatment for my condition. Sure enough after her recommended treatments my skin looked great (and continues to do so). I have been her patient for over 5 years and continue to see her to keep my skin looking its best. She tells like it is and that's what I like about her and her staff - especially her assistant Moisha - who is a real sweetheart - she's the perfect balance to Dr. Hirsch - who is high energy (in a good way). I LOVE visiting the office - it is always a professional and fun experience - I actually laugh the entire time that I'm there. Dr. Hirsch knows her stuff and if you see her you'll become a fan. read more
