Everyone's experience is certainly different and I can only speak for my own. However, my conscious has driven me to advise anyone seeking care for their dog to really do your homework and ask others in the area with dogs what they have heard about this business. Do not just go by the few reviews here, including mine. I regret having put my dog in their care and will never do so again. Once we share our experience with others the feedback started coming in. We had no idea because all the reviews were so positive online and the owner seemed very kind and professional, at first. Regardless of what you read on yelp or whatever defensive response the owners my now post against my feedback, do your own homework and be thorough. Ask questions and question the answers. Dig into the real experience, professionalism and commitment to the dogs (all dogs, not just their preferred breed or whoever pays the most) these owners possess. I was in too much of a hurry when I searched and accepted how they represented themselves too quickly. I wish a different experience for others so am sharing here. Jacob and Lori at Paws Across West Michigan have been wonderful! They came to our home initially to meet with us and and get to know our dog. He took to them right away! I think dogs just know who other dog people are! He loves to play fetch and they were happy to oblige! Like many people, however, we were thinking, "Sit, stay, come, down, off, no." Ha! Command words are super important, but we had no idea what real dog training involved. Our sweet Sayla came from a shelter and while she did not have any really bad behavior, she needed to learn essential skills to live in the real world and not create havoc in ours. Kelly took time to evaluate Sayla to better understand her needs and ours and put together a training program to fit. She was great about keeping us informed about successes, challenges, personality quirks, etc. throughout the process, which helped us to understand how to be better parents at home. Kelly also trained us in how to continue the training at home to ensure success and was so good at answering questions. While I realize it is different for every dog, in just 4 weeks' time, Kelly, Lori and Ronda transformed Sayla from a sometimes shy, scared, non-listening, barking/pulling crazy fur-girl to a well-behaved, confident, listening superstar! Not only did they teach her essential skills to exist in our world, the confidence and enrichment training taught Sayla to trust us more, how to not be so reactive and how to just be a dog. Made notes of anything that may be usual. Michael even took extra steps such as bringing in the mail and taking out the trash. Every day we got a text with a picture of Remy from Michael. Those picture texts help relieve any anxiety we had about leaving Remy. We saw pictures of Remy eating (our biggest concern), and looking happy in general.
