It's taken a long time but I am thrilled with the results we've achieved together. I first learned about this clinic after extensive personal research, collecting recommendations and consulting with other respected electrolysis practitioners around Seattle. The office was a little further away from my home than others but choosing the most-highly-regarded professional around was my biggest deciding factor. (Not having to pay to park in a garage didn't hurt either!) The owner, Laura, was incredibly patient with me. My prior experience with electrolysis had not gone well (having received many hours of ineffective treatment at a different practitioner in Seattle, before I knew what to avoid) leaving me in a very skeptical and questioning position during my first visits. We talked at length about the differentiators between her practice and what I had previously experienced, putting me in a much more positive and relieved mindset as we got into my first treatments. I immediately recognized the difference and, after a short time, began seeing real evidence of the permanent hair removal I'd been hoping for. As time went on and we addressed hair in different areas, I was relieved to know that the team had access to a variety of electrolysis equipment and modalities to find just the right balance between treatment effectiveness and manageable discomfort. Getting insurance to cover electrolysis is a real pain, but Laura is a pro. She has been terrific at providing the timely and accurate preauthorization documentation and monthly super-bills I needed to get started, even as my insurance provider changed. Even after my provider arbitrarily began denying claims, Laura had my back with material support and additional documentation that was essential to completing my appeal. Eventually the insurance company relented and started paying out claims. I couldn't have done this without Laura's help. In addition to Laura, I've also had the opportunity to work with 3 other practitioners in the clinic over the last few years. Though each of them maintain their own unique treatment styles and methods, they all share a common commitment to treating clients with the kindness, dignity and care I'd come to expect. They're all lovely human beings and I tremendously appreciate the work they've done for me. And it doesn't hurt that having a deep bench of skilled technicians gives them the flexibility to offer appointments every day, including late nights, weekends and occasional holidays (if you have the time). Not only did it have very thick hairs, but it was crowded with an insane amount of hairs so fine I could barely see them but couldn't keep my hands off them. I noticed an improvement right away, and at a faster clip than with other practitioners. She is *extremely* thorough and the process is taking less treatments than I'd anticipated. I felt strongly pressured into moving forward with the procedure, including being repeatedly contacted and pushed to put down a deposit and schedule treatment. Looking back, I feel the sales process was predatory, especially given the amount of money involved. The treatment itself did not produce the results I was expecting. In fact, over the years I began noticing that the areas treated, particularly my stomach, seemed increasingly resistant to weight loss and appeared more swollen even when I was losing weight elsewhere. I now suspect I may have developed paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH), a known potential complication of CoolSculpting, and I am going to see a doctor to have this evaluated. I want to be clear that I have not yet received a medical diagnosis, so I am not claiming that CoolSculpting definitively caused what I am experiencing. However, this is a serious enough concern that I now have to seek medical evaluation and potentially treatment years after the procedure. Because CoolSculpting is an elective cosmetic procedure, I also expect that the medical evaluation and any treatment related to a potential complication may have to come out of my own pocket rather than being covered by insurance. That means I could end up paying significantly more money to address a problem I believe may have resulted from a procedure I already paid thousands of dollars for. When I contacted the business about a refund, I was told that too much time had passed and that I had not returned for my three-month "follow-up." My understanding at the time was that this appointment was related to potential additional treatment, rather than being presented to me as a formal evaluation of whether I was satisfied with my original results. I was already unhappy with the results and did not want to feel pressured into spending even more money. I was also told that complications such as PAH were extremely rare. I now know that it is a recognized complication of CoolSculpting, which has made me question how the risks were communicated to me before I agreed to the procedure. I regret spending approximately $3,000 on this treatment, especially given the possibility that I may now have additional medical expenses to determine what is happening and how to address it. I am sharing my experience because I would want to know this before spending thousands of dollars on an elective procedure. Do your research, understand the potential risks, and make sure you fully understand what follow-up appointments actually involve before committing to treatment.
