I've never met a doctor more thorough, honest, and patient than Dr. Nguyen. She really cares about…read moreeach of her patients and my mom has one-hundred percent confidence in her abilities and recommendations. Dr. Nguyen only deals with breast cancer patients--that is her specialty. Plus, I liked her name from the start--I felt, maybe we can "win" this battle with Dr. Nguyen. Eighteen months ago, my mom was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer (it metastasized to her liver and spine) and she chose Dr. Nguyen (pronounced "win") as her oncologist. When you are diagnosed with cancer, choosing your oncologist is probably the most important decision you will make. Your oncologist will be with you every step of your battle and recovery. After meeting with Dr. Nguyen, my mom was certain she made the right choice. When you choose Dr. Nguyen, you get her, plus an entire team of specialists that regularly meet to discuss your progress. You couldn't dream up more compassionate and caring ladies at the front desk--Kristi, Cecile and Hannah. They always have time for you, and put their patients first. My mom raves about nurse Cindy. Many people have trouble accessing my mom's port--but Cindy does it right every time. When you are getting stuck with needles on a regular basis--making it a pain-free experience becomes more important than you think. There are so many intense emotions that are connected the word "cancer", that patients (and family members) often end up asking the same question ten times. You are often so overcome with emotions that you don't hear the answer--even the 7th time. Or, maybe you just want a different answer. Dr. Nguyen has spent hours (literally) answering questions from my family. We have her cell number, and we feel comfortable calling her directly. When my mom had to be hospitalized at one point, Dr. Nguyen came to visit her--not because she had to, but because she cared. Sadly, I know many people that have had to undergo chemotherapy--but no one has created the incredible support network that Dr. Nguyen has created in her office. Dr. Nguyen's gives chemo treatments to all her patients on Fridays. Many women get chemo every three weeks, but my mom got her chemo every week. Often there are ten (or more) women of all ages (30s to 70s) receiving their chemo together. When you walk into the room, there are soft pink reclining chairs formed in a circle. Each woman shares their own story (while getting their IV "cocktail"), and each story broke my heart. It is chemo and "group therapy" combined. Trust me--you do not want to battle cancer alone. The courage in the room is so strong, it is palpable. Some women share and some women just listen. There are so many stories with terrible beginnings and happy endings. One woman was diagnosed with cancer when she was pregnant with twins. She decided to have her babies and then start her chemotherapy treatment. Currently under Dr. Nguyen's care, she is now the mother of two healthy babies and she's fighting cancer one day at a time. Just when you think your own story is unbearable--you hear the heart-breaking plights of others. It makes you want to hug everyone in the room. Each Friday, the women bring in snacks to share while they are getting their cancer treatment. It is almost like a potluck. The relatives (daughters, sons, husbands & friends) serve the women getting chemo. It is an amazing support network--with women opening up their hearts and sharing their personal stories. If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with breast cancer--don't read the statistics on the internet. Eat healthy, breathe deep, go for walks, and go to Dr. Nguyen. Thank you, Dr. Nguyen for saving my mom's life and caring for my mom in such a loving, professional and personal way. Our family owes you in ways we can never repay.

I've had multiple experiences with MemorialCare Fountain Valley recently, including two mammograms…read moreat the MemorialCare Breast Center and my husband's colonoscopy procedure last month at MemorialCare Surgical Center at Orange Coast on the 3rd floor, Suite 304. Overall, I would describe the medical teams as professional, efficient, and caring, with one recurring system issue that I hope can be improved. *Location: Very convenient and easy access from the 405 freeway. *Parking: Parking is very challenging. Out of five visits, I was only able to find a spot within about 10 minutes once, and that was only because a car happened to be leaving. They do offer complimentary valet parking, which I have not personally used, but it may be the most practical option when parking is full. Mammogram Experience at MemorialCare Breast Center: *Front Desk: The front desk staff were friendly and efficient. They verified my identity, then provided a tablet to complete personal information, medical history, and consent forms. After returning the tablet, I waited briefly before being called. A staff member then escorted me inside, reconfirmed my identity and insurance details, and guided me to the dressing area. *Dressing Room: The dressing room was very clean, bright, and secure. It did not feel like a public space, which made the experience feel safe and comfortable. Amenities included tea bags, a water dispenser, hand sanitizer, lockers, and gowns. Staff clearly explained the locker process and provided assistance when needed. *Imaging Staff: When called in, the imaging technician brought in a trainee and asked for my consent, which I appreciated. The technician, I believe her name was Kira, was very kind and professional. She introduced herself and the trainee, confirmed my name and date of birth, and explained each step clearly throughout the exam. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and comfortable. I never felt rushed. After the exam, I was clearly guided back to the dressing room, and once changed, I was able to leave without waiting. *Results: My mammogram results were available within about a week and could be viewed directly through MyChart, which was very convenient. *****Important Scheduling System Issue***** There is one issue I hope the hospital administration or IT team can look into. The hospital sends mammogram reminders through both MyChart and text messages, and the text message includes a scheduling link, which is very convenient in theory. However, I encountered the same issue two years in a row. Last year, I scheduled through the text link, but when I arrived, the front desk could not find my appointment. I assumed it was an error and rescheduled on-site. This year, I used the text link again and had the same experience. No appointment was found when I arrived. When I asked for help, I was told I needed to call to schedule, which felt a bit rigid given the situation seemed system related rather than user error. I eventually scheduled directly through MyChart on my phone, and the appointment immediately appeared correctly in the system. Based on my experience, it seems the text message scheduling link may not properly connect to MyChart unless the user is logged in, which can result in appointments not being recorded. This can lead to patients believing they have successfully booked an appointment when in reality it is not in the system, resulting in wasted trips. *****Recommendation for patients: I would strongly recommend scheduling directly through MyChart or by phone, rather than relying on the text message link. Overall, the medical care has been excellent and professional. I genuinely wish I could give five stars, but I'm leaving four because of the recurring scheduling system issue, which unfortunately caused avoidable confusion and inconvenience.

That all told me to either remove the prostate surgically, or take long term radiation. Even my urologist said to have the surgery. Radiation from all locations above was requiring g me to take 45 sessions, each session 45 minutes, every day except weekends. Then I was in a gathering and heard two doctors taking about CyberKnife. I showed them my biopsy report and they said I'm the perfect candidate for CuberKnife. It sounds scary, but there is no cutting involved! I then searched and found Dr Asif Harsolia, who is very caring and an expert in this procedure. It only required me to get radiation (which is much more accurate than the one you get at other locations I mentioned above), and I only did 5 sessions, each about 30-45 minutes. It's been 4 years now and my PSA number went from close to 6 to 0.11! Thanks you Dr. Harsolia and his caring staff for saving my life. I have been passing the good word on them to anyone I meet. I'm so mad at City of Hope, Loma Linda and Mission Hospital and even my own urologist not to tell me that CyberKnife is an alternative (and much more accurate and safer method) in killing the cancer cells. The key is early detection and before the cancer has spread to other organs close by the prostate organ.

My doctor was a lovely, warm, and a very smart.Woman..She gave me great care and I always knew that if I needed her, she was there for me. In 2018 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer for the second time and it came back with a vengeance.. She made sure I was being taken care of by a Great Surgeon, and a very good RadiationOncologist Within six months my tumor was gone and I was able to have my surgery . All was well until Covid started spreading very quickly. One day i got a call from Dr Quan telling me that she was leaving the group for Personal reasons . I was sad but she told me she would leave me with Dr. Luke Chen. For the first year or so I did not see him in person due to Covid. I talked to him through Facetime. Luckily I was doing well. I finally got to see him and he was very cold and business like. I tried to deal with that, but I never had much faith in him.. I saw his PA and she was very good, but I knew I would have to stay with Dr Chen. Sometime in 2021 All of Pacific Shores was acquired by City of Hope. When I went to see him be acted strange and when I asked him if I was going to stay with the group. He just said he didn't know. He was very upset and so was I . I finally got a letter from My insurance and they said City of Hope was not going to contract with our Medical Group. We were given other Oncologists that we were go to. Again I was upset, at the last minute we were able to stay. That lasted another year or so and we were asked to leave again. This was very upsetting. Dr Chen didn't even let me know himself. I called the office staff and they were confused too about this change, but we're very kind about getting my records. I was very lucky because the group I transferred to is excellent. And so is My Doctor. I would never refer anyone to this group or Dr Luke Chen. He may be smart but he has no bedside manner.
