I've been a Ranshaw customer for 14 years. One of the best things I did in 2021 was hiring Hing L., a plumber from Ranshaw, and his assistant Sean, to remove the small bathroom vanity in my main bathroom and install a new one with brand-new piping! They did the job at the end of September 2021 in about 3 1/2 hours. Now more than three months later, my new vanity still looks great, and every so often when I look at it, I remember HOW WONDERFUL HING L. WAS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PROCESS! After hiring Ranshaw in July 2021 for two plumbing repairs at my home in northeast Queens and being so very pleased with the work done by Hing L., I discussed the possibility of hiring him again. I was intent on actively searching for a new 30" vanity because the old sink/vanity top was severely cracked and discolored. Hing kindly offered his email and phone number so that I could ask for his advice as I conducted my search for a new vanity and faucet. Before ordering the vanity (from a local merchant) and the faucet online, I emailed Hing the specs in August and September to ask if they seemed like good choices. Hing phoned to discuss and clarify some of the details before giving his opinions/approval. After the faucet and vanity were delivered to my home, I called the Ranshaw dispatcher for an appointment and notified Hing. I was lucky to get an appointment the following week, and Hing and his assistant Sean arrived on time on the morning of the appointment with smiling faces ready to work. During the next few hours, HING AND SEAN MET AND EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. Hing examined all the components before starting on the job, and Hing and Sean worked very well together. Hing once again was very knowledgeable since he also has some cabinet experience. He encouraged me to observe them from the hallway outside my small bathroom while they worked, and he patiently and clearly answered my questions. He told me that he had been keeping this job in mind when he needed to look for some piping parts that had become scarce due to the recent supply-chain issues so that he could make sure to give me the best possible plumbing materials for the new vanity set-up. When the sink turned out to be almost too deep for the pop-up drain stem to connect properly, he had me take a photo in case I needed to contact the manufacturer, but he persisted and eventually was able to assemble the faucet as intended. The vanity maker gave my knobs to install on the vanity doors, and Hing agreed to drill the holes to screw the knobs onto the doors and confirmed their placement with me before doing so. The vanity maker also included a side splash to match the vanity top and back splash even though we hadn't discussed it, and the side splash was a fraction of inch too long for the space because of the door molding. But this was no problem for Hing! He took the piece of quartz to a grinder in his truck and shaved it to fit. And then he carefully added a clear caulking to seal where the vanity top met the back and side splashes and the walls. For the finishing touch, I also asked Hing to drill holes on the side of the vanity to install a new bathroom toilet paper holder. He carefully planned and checked with me before doing that as well. After all was done, they cleaned up and took the old pipes away before moving the old vanity to the curb for trash pickup. I was VERY IMPRESSED and PLEASED with HING'S PROFESSIONALISM, KNOWLEDGE, and ATTITUDE! He told me that he always tries to do his best, and he proved that to me that HE DID HIS BEST WORK. REFERENCE TO INSTALLING A NEW OIL TANK. After literally months of dealing with companies that install oil tanks for home furnaces I needed up right back where I started from. I was now staring at a blank wall and seemingly had gotten nowhere for one reason or other. Truly trying to get someone to install A new oil tank border on the verge of lunacy. Overpriced, cash only, no warranty, can't doit now or for several months etc. Double talk, Outright lying and more. So of the blue through a friends next door neighbor who just happen to be a contractor I got two names. I called the one that was closest to me. The companies name was Ranshaw and I spoke with a Richie Bonelli. He came out immediately and I felt Instantly that he was the real deal, honest and intelligent. The gut instinct proved me right down the road. I shown him that the only way to Get a tank inside the house was to lift it onto the countertop and then slide it off down the cellar stairs. BTW, all the other companies I had here poo pooed it out of hand and immediately doubled the weight of the tank which I already knew was dead wrong. Richie listen and then asked to check the side door which I knew a tank would never fit through. He retrieved two flat disks from his vehicle the shape of the ends of a tank. At first it wouldn't fit but then he did some adjustments and in it went. His price was under everybody else's by over $600 to $700 A week later with a crew of 4-5 workers the tank was in with all new fittings, exhaust and receive pipes all new. They bled the lines and I was up and running and now can take hot showers. What can I say, it simply doesn't get better than this and my instinct proved correct and I am more than pleased. I just recently had Ranshaw replace a boiler in a 6 unit building. I am so pleased with the work they performed that this is my first review ever. I'm compelled to write a review because of the excellent service and work Ranshaw performed. As some may know, any building that has above 5 apartments requires that city codes and regulations be followed. Richie Bonelli was my contact at Ranshaw from the start and oversaw the entire project from beginning to end: from getting the permits, performing the job, arranging the inspection, to the city sign off on the job. Throughout the entire job there was constant and quick communication keeping me informed of each and every detail. Every one of the workers was courteous and professional - including the people on the phone at their office - super nice! I would highly recommend Ranshaw Plumbing and Heating to family, friends, and anyone who is in need of plumbing and heating services. Con Ed turned off the gas in the middle of winter. No heat or hot water and it was 20° F. Called 2 plumbers, 1st wouldn't do it, 2nd said they'd get back with a quote but didn't. This was a huge job because the house is old, and wasn't up to latest code. Ranshaw knew the issue and what was needed. Minimum 4-6 weeks, requiring many phases including reconstruction to meet code. Thank heavens Ritchie knew what to do. He handled everything, including all plumbing, installation of all new appliances even recommending how construction was done. Finally got heat back in March, 6 weeks later. His teams were excellent, professional and clean. Hing and his team were excellent! Ritchie had several teams working nonstop to get the job done ASAP. So great to work with. Con Ed should be rated F for leaving 2 disabled people in freezing weather and no heat. Couldn't leave due to constant work, slept in winter coats and hats! read more

Worked with each individual and numerous times heard the N-Word used, especially by Arnold and Hing Lai. Was let go for "not listening", yet THE OWNER HIMSELF is the one who doesn't listen, does not remember what he says and fires you/fucks with your life JUST BECAUSE HE DOES NOT REMEMBER WHAT HE SAYS! Anyone wants to use ranshaw, call someone else....ANYONE can do quality work, with guarantees, and charge you A THIRD of what they will. ALSO: too many drug addicts work there, including the owner(whom ive been told regularly smokes marijuana; reason for his lack of short term memory? Perhaps). read more

I couldn't disagree more with the last post. I have been using Ranshaw for over 20 years, and so has several friends and family members of mine. They have always been nothing but professional and dependable for as long as I have known them. Whether I had a problem with my boiler or water tank or even any plumbing problems in the house, they always gave me reliable service. What a great experience I had with Ranshaw! I contacted them and they were able to come the next day to look at my gas hot water heater. They gave me prices and options and clearly explained everything to me. The office staff was very friendly and pleasant, as well as the plumber and helper that came to my home. Although his work load was too high for him to help me by replacing my boiler in as timely a manner as I need, he was very patient and educated me about various types of boilers and their pros and cons. Excellent company for all plumbing and heating repairs. I have used Ranshaw for boiler and Hot water tank replacement in my home. Also they replaced waste lines and water pipes that leaked and needed repairs. Yes they are a little pricey but the work gets done right the first time with little or no mess.
