Ben, the owner/operator arrived and quickly went to work assessing our tanks; he said we were probably good for another year but I opted to go ahead and get it done. Ben was very knowledgeable and eager to share information, I learned alot about my septic system, showed me the filter and how to clean it out and how often, and he also gave advice on a few things he observed (intake pipe should be adjusted for grade; tree that we planted could be a problem in a few years, best to move it now) He also took time, after I asked him about the 4 cleanouts, to show me how they worked. Never received a call from the service person. Luckily I called my renter and they were there and asked to speak to them. He said I had a small leak so I told him to go ahead and fix it. By the time the service person got done it cost me almost $800. He never called me to tell me any of that information and found out once they mailed me the bill. AND I was billed $82 for the parts. if I picked them up at the store myself, it would have been about $35 - $40. So far, I've only found 3 reputable contractors on the peninsula. I know how to do the projects, but I wanted a few off my list. I feel sorry for the folks who are stuck paying for this crap because they don't have the skills. I can't imagine what I would have been billed if I rescheduled the two showers. Never call Belks or Taft again.
