This fun little rock shop is located very close to the La Quinta at the mouth of Zion entrance. My family had a fun time looking through the shop and going outside to look through their collection at the back! If you've got some time to kill and love rocks it's a fun thing to come here and look through there rock collection! My son found a couple treasures and we had a fun time. Was driving around the area just looking around at local shops before starting our day at Zion National Park when we happened to walk into the Rare Rock Shop. Definitely glad we walked in here! The inventory of stones and rarities was fantastic. Was even pleasantly surprised to find the owner was VERY knowledgeable in the field! He gave great suggestions and even introduced me to my new favorite rock type! Additionally, he was prepared to use the resources and books he had to help answer and research any question you have. We picked out some nice things to take home and we are definitely happy with our selections. Paul, the owner, was an excellent, welcoming friend. Meeting him definitely was a highlight of our trip to Zion. He was knowledgeable of the area and showed us some great areas to look into. He took the time to have an hour conversation with us about questions we had about the area and getting to know us. The owner is very friendly and helped me find what I was looking for. They can also turn your stone into a piece of jewelry. This shop is just a short detour off of I-15 and was worth the stop. The owner has a lot of great specimens of minerals, fossils, agates, and so forth. We were happy to find a tasteful mix of raw, partially polished, and fully polished items. We got a great solid, 3" branch of petrified wood with one end polished so beautifully, showing the details of all the rings and natural cracks in the wood. Worth a look! read more
