I joined LA Fitness in December 2013, back when they were at the old Bally location. The current…read morelocation on Route 18 opened in summer 2014. I used to do mostly strength training and it certainly offers enough space and equipment, although during peak hours you may be waiting a while for a squat rack or bench press. There may also be a wait for the cardio machines, especially the Lateral X since there are only two. (It's a very expensive machine.) Unfortunately, I've found that it's fairly common for members to not be very courteous and not rack their weights when done using them, or put them in the wrong spot. There have been several occasions where my workout has been interrupted by me having to play Where's Waldo for a pair of dumbbells when the other pair in the same weight was taken. At least the other members don't bother me when I'm exercising or try to rush me off of a bench or machine. I used to do personal training here. I wish there were different packages offered, like 3 months or 6 months, but the only option is a 1-year contract for $200 a month where you need to pay an early termination fee of 50% of the remaining months' cost if you cancel. After the 1 year is up, it's month to month. They'll have you sign your initials a few times on an electronic pad, but insist on reading the contract. (They'll also email you a copy and you can cancel within 3 days for a full refund.) I had my personal training for over a year, with Evelyn. She is great! I've done one-on-one sessions and small group training with her. I eventually cancelled my personal training but would recommend her to anyone. For the past several months I've mainly been coming here just for the classes, which are included with the membership. Zumba is very popular and there are always at least a few men there, for anyone who thought it was just for women. I also enjoy the cycle classes. I had been going to yoga every Monday night but haven't really been going since Sal the instructor left. He also used to do cycle classes and he was so motivating! I also enjoy Sylvia's cycle classes and Stacey's Zumba classes, but I'll go to classes with various other instructors too. The hours are pretty good. Monday evenings are very crowded, so are Tuesdays, then it starts to taper off through Friday, when the place is dead. I have to leave my house quite early for the 6:45 and 7pm classes due to the traffic in the area. Careful in the women's locker room. The floors tend to be wet a lot since women don't properly dry themselves off after using the pool or the shower. I've also, on two different occasions, seen an abandoned pair of underwear on the floor. I've never used the showers or the pool at this location so I can't comment on those. They used to have a smoothie/snack bar but got rid of it a few months ago. They don't even have the vending machines anymore! How is anyone supposed to get a drink if they don't have an empty bottle they could fill at the water fountain, or what if they want to drink something else? Even though there are a few things about this LA Fitness that I don't like, I'm overall pretty happy with it. Unfortunately, I'm cancelling my membership since I'm moving. Cancelling is an easy process; just log into the website, get the cancellation form, and mail it out, preferably via certified mail. (I used an online certified mail website to save a trip to the post office.) Wish I knew that when I cancelled my personal training, since I waited for one specific employee for over half an hour just to get the cancellation form when the exact same one was available through the website. A few days after sending the form out, I got an email alert that they received my request and it specified my last day of service, and refunded me for my most recent monthly payment since I already paid for that when I signed up. I'm not sure what kinds of rates or packages are currently available but I paid $170 due upon signup (initiation fee plus first and last month of membership) and $32 monthly.

The smoothie bar is always a place! I've only seen a handful of them. This gym was clean but didn't…read morereally have much stuff as the new updated LA's.

I started coming here on a whim a few weeks ago as I kept hearing family members who are either…read moredoing OTF or lost a lot of weight doing OTF. It kinda bugged me, so I decided to try a class on a whim. After that, I decided the only way to get myself right is to commit to this for at least a year. And that, I ended up doing. If you know a little about Orangetheory, it's really great for anyone in any shape. For me - a gym avoider - it's been good because the instructors really do help coach you. My form is absolutely terrible and I've been using OTF to learn everything from scratch. It was rough the first few gos, but it's been getting better day by day. This location is good as it's only about 10 mins or so away from my home. As someone who works from home all the time, I've taken advantage of both the morning and afternoon classes. I find the 8:15am class to be the perfect wake-up call to start the week. I then utilize the 12pm class mid-week for the specialized strength and tread classes. Works perfect for me as the strength class breaks up the cardio a little bit. I also added a Saturday AM class too. Bathrooms are nice and clean in here. Also, the front desk people are usually pretty nice. The instructors I've worked with - Justin, Boo, Brian, and Tansey - are super nice people too. Only thing is that Yelp ought to tweak the hours because it's not like there are classes every hour. But that's out of my control....

I've been a member of this location for a few months now and I really love the place. The facility…read moreis small and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and the coaches are wonderful. I appreciate the smaller classes (compared to a regular gym) and the direction from the coaches when I do something incorrectly (which is common, because I'm uncoordinated and out of shape but working on it, LOL). It's like having a personal trainer without the added cost of a personal trainer. As someone who typically hates exercise, I look forward to my OT classes!

We've had a really positive experience with The Learning Experience in East Brunswick. As a family…read moremember, it's been reassuring to see how comfortable and happy my nephew is there. The staff is warm, patient, and genuinely cares about the kids. Ms. Anusha and Ms. K mention-they've been amazing with him and always make him feel supported and safe. You can tell they actually know the children, not just their names but their personalities too.Even though I am not a parent- I can tlel the teachers care deeply for him.

This negative review is long over due. We joined TLE in 2021 and watched this center spiral when…read morethe owners wife left as Director. In a matter of 3 years they have gone through 4 directors, and weekly staff changes. There is clearly a disconnect between the owner, management and staff that has affected the center tremendously. Of all the terrible things we have endured, the most recent was my daughter being taken out on a stretcher due to negligence. Another child brought peanut m&ms into what is said to be a nut free facility. Apparently all the teachers missed this and when they realized my daughter was having an allergic reaction they simply had her waiting for us in the lobby. No one thought to administer the epipen despite calling us several times stating they feared something serious was happening. The heart ache we felt this day is truly traumatizing. The worst part is, the director never bothered to call or check in the following day. Two weeks prior my other child left with an unreported head bruise & management lied on the incident report (which I got days later). Then the new assistant director Emily had the audacity to gossip with another staff member while I was standing right there because I refused to sign the incident report, rightfully so. You will NOT get daily updates on your child as promised. Your child will most likely be fed someone else's food even if you put a million labels on it. My daughter was given a formula bottle when she was fully breast fed ( I have photos to prove). New staff every single day and they recycle crappy staff members when all the new ones quit. Management is terrible. Extremely unprofessional, no genuine interest in your child's wellbeing. Staff is underpaid and openly express to parents how much they hate it there. No committed teachers (with the exception of a few), no control in the classrooms, no sense of family. Horrible place that we put up with for nearly 3 years.
