I have little patience for bus rides, but my mom (who's visiting from Florida), insisted we go. So there I was at 6am in the Sahara parking lot waiting for the shuttle to take us to our tour bus. Grumpy morning me and smiley happy mom. My plan was to get on the bus, ignore everyone and go to sleep. 'Wake me when we get there'. Well the Tour Bus Gods had something else in mind, namely, a guide/driver called RON. I don't know if Grand Canyon Tours' drivers are all like Ron, but he is certainly an asset to the company. He made the trip completely enjoyable and memorable. His driving skills are right on the money for those tricky curvy roads near Hoover Dam and his wit and charm will win you over quickly. Good trivia is also part of his curriculum along with videos that will give you a background of what your driving to or driving by. The buses are new, clean, and comforable. The customer service staff on the phone, friendly and patient answering any and all questions. Would recommend to all who come visit (quite a bit since I moved from NYC in October). read more

I was expecting to be herded around like cattle, abused and irritated; but, thankfully I got the complete opposite. For the south rim tour, $79.99 plus $10 per person it was a steal. If you factor in renting a car, gas, getting lost (or not), entrance admission to the Grand Canyon, free pick-up, lunch and breakfast. I felt like I got my money's worth and maybe even more! The only time I felt like sheep was when they dropped all of us off in the morning at their "office" to get us all numbered and situated and made us wait in this small room like we were at the DOL. But that's it! Lunch was great, enjoyed the food there (and I'm pretty picky so). We had a little under three hours at the Grand Canyon, were able to do the rim walk which was about 2 miles - I highly recommend doing that, amazing views! The south rim is absolutely breathtaking. Loved it. I would recommend this south rim tour to anyone! However, next time I'd want to attempt to go down into the canyon. Mule pack anyone? :) read more

This was one of the worst experiences of my life. Our pickup time was 7am. I booked our tours on the phone, so I had no paperwork. The driver that got us at the hotel had a major attitude when I told her I didn't have any paperwork, the lady I booked with didn't even give me a confirmation number. She insisted I had to have something, but whatever. They drove the bus from our hotel to their depot, where we were herded into a different bus and given a water bottle and a danish. By the time we hit the road, it was 9am. The first stop was a McDonald's (not included) 2 hours away, which was packed to the brim with other tourists. From that stop, it was another 2 hours to the buffet lunch, which was absolutely awful, cold food and not at all what you're used to being in Vegas. We shared our table with 2 other people. After the lunch stop, we finally made it to the canyon, at 2pm. We had 45 min at the first stop, the west point, and made it to the second stop, the south, at 3. Now, the bus leaves at 5, but to the Hermits Point is a two hour trip, which is what the driver advised us to do. We barely made the bus back, and from there it was a 3 hour drive to a Carl's Jr for dinner (not included) and another 2 hours to our hotel. We got back by 11pm. The Grand Canyon is only a 2.5 hour drive from the Luxor, but it took us 14 hours and we only had 3 hours at the canyon. The driver was nice enough and the bus had movies and a restroom, but I deeply regret not renting a car and doing the trip on my own. You will not be back at 9 like they promised, and will spend 11 extra hours on a cramped bus. read more

Grand Canyon Tour Company needs some work and needs to fix some problems. Did the west rim bus and skywalk tour. I stayed at the Palazzo and had to catch the bus at treasure Island at the valet bus pick up area. This was chaotic because no one knew what bus to get on and none of them are labeled. Wow a plain white bus, which one do I get on? So I checked a couple nope, called the tour company. The bus isn't there yet, but will arrive shortly. I have a seat fifteen minutes goes by and a guy comes strolling down, you taking a grand Canyon Tour? Well I was planning on it if I knew what f$cking bus to get on. Here's an idea, if you bring a plain white bus have the driver stand out side the bus with a sign telling everyone this bus is for Grand Canyon Tour Company. Once on the bus we are taken to the bus terminal location where we are dropped off. Here they have a major a$$hole who is the drill instructor telling people to do this, do that, hurry up, get the fu@k in line, get outside, this guy needs to seriously calm down and learn some public relations. This is where they give you a snack for Breakfast, coffee or tea, a pastry, and only one bottle of water, and the drill instructor a$$hole will make sure you know to only take one. Once we are divided into groups we wait for the bus, guess what? It's a plain white bus so you better figure out how to identify it because if you are twenty minutes late at any stop they leave without you we were threatened. Once on the bus the seats were comfortable. Make sure you sit up front or you won't be able to hear anything. The driver is the guide and will tell you about things, the problem is that no one can hear her over the engine, she is using the engine brake which makes it even louder. She states that isn't her problem, well it's a huge problem when I don't know where to go or what time to be back, or any other instructions. The WiFi doesn't work on the bus, it is spotty and horrendous at best. The first stop was the Hoover Dam where you can get out to see the Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. Here they have some info on the bridge, but you have twenty minutes to get to the bridge and back so no time to read. This is a great view of the Hoover Dam and you can also see the welcome to Nevada sign. Once back on the bus it's off to the Grand Canyon. The bus stopped in a sh!thole town called Dolan Springs. There the driver passed out the boxed lunches and nothing to drink. Well there is a store where you can pay an arm and a leg for something to drink, but you better be back in ten minutes. So you are forced to buy water. The next stop was the Grand Canyon. This was set up pretty nicely with a bus that goes between the three stops, the buses are like every twenty minutes. I used my time at Eagle Point, the views are amazing and the skywalk is incredible. The problem is the Asians, they are very pushy and discourteous, there is no railings and the drops are 400 feet or more, so if they push you over it is not going to be good. I tried to stay away from them but they were everywhere. They had several close calls, I don't know why they are so pushy and can't take turns. The views are amazing and spectacular. The next stop is guano point where there is remnants of the days of the mine. The views here are just as breathtaking. There are several gift shops also. Once back on the bus it was back to the hotel. The bus also plays several informational videos, but you won't be able to hear them due to the noise of the bus. read more

So, I e-mailed Grand Canyon Tours Inc. to ask why we were still charged the fuel surcharge despite the fact that gas/fuel prices were so much cheaper on the day of the tour than they had been when we booked it. I was polite. I was certainly not asking for nor expecting any money back. I was just truly curious to hear what they had to say. The reply I got back was so snippy, it was unbelievable! I later googled the name of the "customer service" representative who had replied to me and, on a travel web site, found a reply she had sent to another customer. The tone of that reply was exactly the same as the one she sent to me: WE did nothing wrong and, if anything about the tour was not to your liking or not what you were expecting, it is YOUR fault. I guess she figures that, since it is unlikely any of us will be taking another Grand Canyon tour any time soon, it is ok to be condescending and dismissive. This totally cost them a star! Loved it! Met the 1st bus downstairs at my hotel at 6am. At around 7am, we made it to their headquarters at Planet Hollywood, paid $86 received our "breakfast" of Pop Tarts and a bottle of water. I then got on my day trip to the Hoover Dam & The Grand Canyon! I had an amazing day! Here is a list of our stops: 1- Hoover Dam on the Arizona side. Love how they played an educational video about the Hoover Dam! 2-Kingman, AZ to releive ourselves and get a snack 3-Williams, AZ to eat our lunch. We had a pretty good buffet at the Grand Depot Cafe and got to walk around and see the Grand Canyon Railway trains. Williams is such a super cool, vintage, and eclectic little town! Wish I spent more time here! 4-Mather Point Grand Canyon National Park. Simply Amazing! 5-Bright Angel Lodge. I went on an amazing hike here!! 6-Gas Station for break near Grand Canyon. They played the movie The Proposal and loved it! lol They also played the movie Sahara, and that was bad. 7-Kingman AZ. I ran across the highway to eat Popeyes chicken that upset my stomach badly! There was also tons of traffic when passing the Hoover Dam. I have been very vague and can not type all of the incredible things we've passed and all the scenic sights I've seen! I have such a respect for our country's landscape now. This is truly something everyone needs to do. The tour guide/driver was very nice and gave plenty of history and descriptions of scenery and history. My hotel was the last stop. It was truly an unforgettable day! I am so happy that they have such tours for people like me that do not drive!!! I will go back to the Grand Canyon! read more

This tour (GC West Rim) had some good parts and some really crappy ones and I'll do my best to tell you about it all. BTW, I'm 35, female, and outdoorsy. We drove to meet the bus at Planet Hollywood at 6:15. We were told "Be here at 6:15, 6:30 at the latest." We sat, waiting, on a RUNNING bus until 7:30! At 6:30 am, an hour and fifteen minutes of waiting seems like eternity. Apparently we were waiting for one other couple who never arrived. Bus driver was fine -- not terribly entertaining or funny, but he delivered his script of historical information and drove safely. The speaker in the bus was very loud and I wished I had ear plugs so he wasn't yelling in my ear. The air conditioning vents were also broken, so be sure to bring a jacket as you'll probably have cold air blowing directly on you. The drive is fine -- super bumpy dirt road for about 20 minutes, but not curvy or sickness inducing at all! We brought pillows and were glad we did. After you arrive at the reservation, your driver gives you your tickets for the park and wishes you well. You'll meet up with him and your bus about 4 hours later to leave. The park requires you to ride their shuttle buses from stop to stop. Jump on the first bus and head to the Skywalk area. We didn't spring for the skywalk cause we'd read reviews that it's waaay overrated. You can walk around there and learn a bit about Native American dwellings as well as enjoy the views of the canyon. Jump on the shuttle again and head to Guano Point where there is a 10 minute (if that!) walk out to a viewing point. Do not let anyone tell you this is a hike -- it's flat and nearly paved. Other than this walk, there aren't any other recreational opportunities at Grand Canyon West. No hiking into the canyon here! Jump back on the shuttle and they take you back to where you started. There's an additional stop outside of the park area where you go to meet the tour bus for your return trip. This last area is a Wild West themed part that's pretty crappy. It's totally out of place and super lame. That said, I did learn to rope a metal steer and was proud of my accomplishment! As for food, your ticket price includes a breakfast "snack" which is your choice of a package of pop tarts, donuts, granola bar, etc. Bring other food/snacks for the bus ride -- you'll be glad you did! You also get a lunch coupon which you can use at one of two places at the park -- the food is mediocre at best, but hey, it's "free" right? We were glad we had snacks with us to supplement our meals. There is a snack bar at the park too but I'd guess it was pretty pricey. The trip to the park took about 3 hours. The trip home took 4.5!!! First, we had to wait an additional 30 minutes for a family on our bus that failed to meet at the appropriate time for the return trip. I get that people can be running late, but our driver didn't even acknowledge it or say something like, "Sorry folks. I'll do my best to make up some time on the way home." We stopped at the Hoover Dam on the way back too, and got out for 15 minutes to stretch our legs. This was unnecessary as we were in the parking lot and couldn't walk down to the actual dam. There were also no restrooms here, so you had to go on the bus. We were an hour past schedule at this point and I wish he'd just cut this part out entirely. Here's the part they don't tell you about: In the morning, they send around several shuttle buses to gather everyone at their hotels and bring them to Planet Hollywood. In the afternoon, they drive the one big bus to each of the drop off points, so depending on where your hotel is, you may be on the bus an additional hour for each of these stops! We were supposed to return around 5, but didn't get off the bus until 6:45pm. Luckily we didn't have tickets to a show or anything, but I would have been super pissed if we had. This dropping off process is exhausting, given that you've already been on the bus for 3 1/2 hours. If you're still reading, here are the pros: - You don't have to drive, so you can sleep, play games on your phone, etc. - No need for directions or navigating - Great views of the GC only 3 hours from Vegas. We went solely to take my parents who had never been and they thought it was great. As my husband and I have been to the North Rim for camping/hiking, it was just "ehhh" for us. Cons: - Bus was kinda crappy and uncomfortable - Bus driver wasn't anything special - Didn't show movies or any sort of entertainment along the way - Food was marginal - Trip home seemed to last an eternity All in all, I supposed I'd recommend this trip, as long as you know what you're getting in to. I probably still would have gone had I known all of this before, because I'd already driven from LA to Vegas and was tired of being behind the wheel. As I said, we brought snacks, drinks, jackets and pillows and were so glad we did! You can leave stuff on the bus so don't worry about bringing too much! Comfort is key! read more

You have to like bus tours to appreciate how much this company tries to make you happy. Prices: Internet special is $169.99 for 2. Morning pick-up: 6:20 am at the west wing of the MGM Grand. They schedule small groups to be picked up at their hotels and shuffle them over to the Planet Hollywood terminal for registration. Breakfast: 1 meal ticket gets you 1 breakfast item/1 drink Schedule: Each person is given a bus number and brightly colored tag so you won't have any issues. Stops: 45mins: Hoover Dam (10 minutes) 1 hr 20mins: Kingman, AZ (15 minutes) and everyone runs to the bathroom. 1hr. 30mins: Williams, AZ (45 minute Lunch) 1hr. 20 mins: South Rim, Grand Canyon. The return trip is similar minus the stop in Williams, AZ. Restroom Tip: Wait until your stop in Williams, AZ and go before you eat lunch. While everyone is running to the food, you won't have to wait in line for the food or the restroom. Meals: Breakfast was okay, nothing spectacular. I had Apple juice and doughnuts but there are healthier alternatives like a nutrigrain bar. Lunch, if you think about it, it's quite good. Unlike other tour groups that hand over a cold sandwich box, Grand Canyon Tours offers a buffet style sit-down lunch. Great for kids! There are 2 or 3 choices for main dishes and all the fixings...even a salad and soup bar and a soft serve station. Time at the Grand Canyon: Not enough to some extent and you feel rushed at times to hike to the canyon. My group had 2 young children and a senior citizen. You really don't have time to just take it all in. Fun things to do: Feeding the squirrels by the Grand Canyon Lodges. Downside: The tour says they pick and drop you off at your hotel. This is FALSE! They group your drop offs and select one of the hotels. In our case, New York, New York...and by some freak of nature it was pouring rain. We had to walk back to our hotel. In this case, I would say the tour company needs to drop their guests off at their hotel. Hey...it'll get you a good tip and a great recommendation. read more

I had so much fun on this tour with my family. We did the Grand Canyon West Rim Skywalk bus tour. That tour package includes: -Hotel pickup: Their buses have designated pickup points at various hotels all along the strip, so you should have no problem with getting picked up. I was staying at The Palazzo and the closest pickup spot for me was at The Mirage. I suggest being a little early because you might have to look around a bit to find the correct spot. Our bus was very prompt and it did not stick around to wait for latecomers. The bus takes you to their office at Planet Hollywood to check-in. The people working there are very friendly. -Breakfast Snack: Don't come hungry because all you'll get is one drink and one snack. The kind of things available were snacks you'd find in a vending machine, like granola bars and trail mix, and water or coffee for your drink. -Guided tour: Our bus driver/tour guide was awesome. She made the ride there interesting by telling us about the scenery along the way. You'll pass by the Hoover Dam. On the return trip, there's a brief stop so that you can get out and use the bathroom, stretch your legs a bit, and take some photos. -Lunch: you have very few options once you get to the Canyon but lunch was fine and it was nice to have this included. You'll know you're in Arizona for sure. There were dead scorpions floating in the huge tub where the keep the bottled water on ice. -Admission into the Grand Canyon: Such a beautiful wonder of nature. I'm glad that I got the chance to see this once in my lifetime. -Skywalk: I definitely recommend including this in your tour package. It's worth the extra cost. It was so cool to be inside the rim and to be able to see the view below. There were birds flying under! WARNING: Check the forecast before you go and go on a day when the skies are clear. Due to the high altitude and the nature of the structure, if there's any signs of thunder or rain, they'll close down the Skywalk for safety reasons. If the troublesome clouds don't pass, you'll have to go through the hassle of getting a refund from the tour company. I went during the summer and there was a light sprinkle and we heard thunder roll in with the dark clouds. I'm going to guess that summer lightning storms are pretty common here in the summer months. In other news though, it was really cool to be able to see this so closely. When you're at the canyon, be very careful near the edge and absolutely do not let small children out of your sight. I was shocked to see how careless people were and how closely they got towards the edge while taking photos. One wrong move or if some careless person runs into you and you could find yourself over the edge. I wasn't even that close to the edge and what I saw made my knees feel weak. It's a lonnnng way down. Don't let your children run around like some irresponsible parents I saw. If you're looking for a cool day trip to do in Vegas, this is definitely worth your time and money. We were really looking forward to our small plane flight over the Grand Canyon yesterday. The tour company called as we were on the way to the municipal airport to tell us that the flight was cancelled due to mechanical difficulties. Obviously the airline they contract with doesn't have backup equipment. This was to be the highlight of our trip to Vegas. The last minute cancellation didn't allow us an opportunity to plan for anything else, so we went home. They refunded our money, but ... so what? They're required by law to do that. We timed it just right to take advantage of the half-price tour before the start of the summer season. Reserving the tour on the phone was easy and I received an email confirming my reservation soon after. Because of the high gas prices, the company added to each passenger a $7 surcharge. On the day of the tour, Grand Canyon Tours picked us up at Bally's at 6:55AM and dropped us off practically next door at the Planet Hollywood Resort bus terminal area to pay for our tour. They gave each of us a coupon to receive 1 food item and 1 drink. Don't expect much except for packaged donuts, granola bars, cinnamon bun, coffee, water, ...etc. If you get hungry easily, bring some snacks to eat on the bus. We then got onto another bus. Those horror stories you might have read about are unfounded. The bus was new (2007), clean, comfortable, has a bathroom, air-conditioning, and video screens. The trip was long, but you can spend your time napping or watching the videos our bus driver, Lucious, played for us. Our first stop was a view of Hoover Dam from an outlook. I was disappointed that we didn't stop closer to the dam, but since this was not a Hoover Dam tour, I totally understand. Next, we stopped off at Kingman, AZ for about 20 minutes for a bathroom break and food. For lunch, we stopped at Thelma & Max's Restaurant in Williams, AZ for a buffet. Not much food variety, but it was edible. We finally reached Grand Canyon at about 2PM and made two stops. One at Mathers Point and the other at Bright Angel Lodge. We had about 80 minutes at each location to look around, eat, or buy souvenirs. Believe me, the time goes by quickly. On our way back, we stopped off at Valle, AZ for a bathroom break and food and then again at Kingman, AZ. Just as I had hoped, we passed by Hoover Dam at night, but we didn't stop. We got back to the Vegas Strip about 9PM and the driver dropped us off at our hotel. All in all, this was definitely worth the money and l glad to leave the long drive to someone else. read more

Things started bad in the morning. They told us that they'll pick us up at the hotel around 6:45am. I waited in the lobby of my hotel for about 30 min but no one showed. When I called the place up they said I missed the pickup so I had to take a cab going to the place. I thought it was my fault...maybe I did miss it but when they dropped us off at our hotel it was the wrong hotel. Then I realized I didn't make the mistake they did. I called the place up and talked to Paul (who didn't want to tell me his last name) he is supposedly the manager but he kept hanging up on us. Needless to say our issue was not resolved and I would not recommend anyone to use their services! Horrible customer service! There are better options...I would go there instead! read more

I would not recommend this company for your tour. Lots of wasted time just getting started. Was not picked up or dropped off at our hotel as they advertise . Had to walk to a nearby hotel. Bus was cramped and uncomfortable especially when people in front of you recline their seats. Makes their heads right in your face and cramps your space. The movies were awful. At least 10 years old. Need to update those dvds Felt like cattle herding into dirty restrooms during trip. The buffet was hot and fresh and better than I expected after reading the reviews. Our bus driver did share some interesting things about Vegas . He was nice and to be honest was glad not to have to listen to non-stop chatter from the driver. There was enough noise listening to the loud family in back of us. The south rim Grand Canyon was awesome!!!! I would have enjoyed more time given to see and take pictures. Fun Grand Canyon day trip. They picked us up at the hotel at 7:00 a.m., and had a couple of fun stops. Stopped in a cool little Route 66 town called Williams for lunch. Made it to the Grand Canyon. We walked the 2.5 mile hike to Bright Angel Lodge where the bus was there to pick us up again. On the ride back we stopped in Kingman, where we got Wendy's for dinner. We were back in Vegas by 9:00 p.m. Our driver was knowledgeable and told lots of facts and stories. Poor guy had the world's most monotone voice EVER (think "Bueller...? Bueller...?") and most of the people on the ride down fell asleep pretty fast. haha. My only real complaint is the pick up process. We were picked up at the Bellagio tour lobby and there were SO many buses coming in at 7:00am, that you really had no idea which one was yours. Every time a bus came in, everyone would jump up and run over. I would recommend to the tour company to put SOME kind of identifying logo or wording on your bus. I think it would help with the confusion. The Grand Canyon is pretty amazing though. I would highly recommend people see it. Its true when they say pictures don't really do it justice. I wish the tour allotted more time there, but I guess that's what you get when youre part of a group tour. read more

We chose the West Rim bus tour because it is shorter and stops at the Hoover Dam. I also was interested in the Native American heritage of the area, but we unfortunately did not see many Hualapai. We got a good deal at $105 per person (including fuel surcharge). Make sure to clarify the shuttle pick-up location with your hotel, they probably have a spot where shuttles pick up for tours. We missed our's because we were in the wrong place but were able to take a taxi and meet the group at the check-in location. If you miss the shuttle, call the number immediately. The snack was just what they said, so eat something beforehand or bring snacks too. Our bus driver was enthusiastic and friendly. He talked pretty much the entire time, so don't worry about bringing something to do on the bus. The Hualapai market at Guano Point was cool, I recommend getting a necklace or bracelet there as a souvenir, rather than something from a store. I got a dream catcher, the seller was able to tell me about the symbolism of its pieces. The ranch was neat but would have been more fun if the tourists were more enthusiastic about the activities. The few kids on our tour seemed to love it though. Oh, and the cow, Norm, from the movie "City Slickers" lives there. I thought the lunch was delicious: Ribs or Chicken, 2 sides, cornbread, & a cookie. I recommend the BBQ ribs! And there was an acoustic guitarist and an excellent magician in the hall where you eat to entertain you. Overall, I'm glad we chose this tour. I would not have wanted to spend more of my vacation on a bus. read more

Our group went on the south rim tour for an over inflated price of $150/person. We were picked up at 6:30 am and taken to Miracle Mile in Planet Hollywood. Our "breakfast " consisted of ONE danish and bottle of water, tea, or coffee. We actually went back and took another round later on. Bring a lot of snacks or you will be hungry! We first drove over the hudson bridge and stopped to take some pictures. Then we set off for south rim and ended up eating at a buffet near the railways. It was actually pretty good mexican food like do it yourself nachos and tacos, potato and sausage mix, spanish rice, salad bar, abd chicken legs. Overall it was quite satisfying but we only had 45 min to eat and shop. Nexx we got to Bright Angel Lodge where we had 2 hrs to shop, take pictures, and drink coffee at the cafe. To be honest, even though we had a great tour guide, the visit to the Grand Canyon was not that interesting. Thw view wasn't spectacular or breathtaking. At least we can now say we have been to the Grand Canyon though.. read more

This review is mainly about the customer service of the place. It was absolutely horrible! I booked the Hoover Dam tour as part of a surprise for my wife's 30th birthday. The booking process was smooth. The woman was informative and answered whatever questions I asked. The issues started the day of the tour. We were staying at the Stratosphere Hotel. I asked the woman twice when I booked where do I go timer the driver. She explained it was the north lobby entrance by the buffet. Upon arrival to the hotel, I confirmed the pick up location with the hotel front desk and they confirmed what the customer service rep already informed me. That was the third time. That morning my wife and I went down to the north lobby, by the buffet entrance and waited outside. It was 7:50 am when we arrived down to the entrance. There were two other woman waiting for the tour as well. We asked them if this was the location of the trip and they repeated the same thing the customer service rep and the front desk had already confirmed. Our trip pick up time was for 8:10 am. We waited. No bus. It was now 8:13 am so I called the bus company to again confirm the pick up location and timing. The woman who answered this time said that the driver was running late and would be there in 3 mins but confirmed that we were in the right location. She said the bus would say 1-800-4 canyon on the side. We waited more. 8:22 am we see a bus pull around to the other side of the hotel and the women waiting said that was our bus. This bus said Grayline so I knew it was not our bus but I went around the hotel to double check and see anyway. The driver told me we were not in his list. As soon as I finished speaking with him, my wife asked me to call again to see where our bus was. When I called, I was told by customer service that the driver had already come, called into them and said we were not there so he left. How is that the case if we were in the spot that I confirmed several times? She then told us we would have to take a taxi down to their bus terminal to get on the tour bus. Now I have to pay more out of my pocket to go on a tour I already paid for because your bus driver did not see us nor called us to ask us where we were or if we were coming? Okay fine but I will speak to a manger once we arrive. Upon arrival to the bus terminal, my wife goes to speak with a manager about the mishap and he completely blows her off. "What do you want me to do? We had been picking up people from there for over 20+ years. You all were in the wrong location and missed the bus." My wife tried reasoning with him but he kept saying "there is nothing we can do." The he got really rude. Some of the things I won't put on here. There is a $6/person fuel charge for the trip. We knew this going in and were willing to pay. However, because we had to uber down to the terminal I asked if they could at least waive the fuel charge to cover us having to take uber. "No. There is nothing I can do". At this point, my wife and I are livid. She gets on the phone to connect with corporate and the woman over the phone won't give out the number to someone higher. The woman admitted that the driver was late and that there was no call to me but yet they won't come us for the uber drive that we had to make? We were just about to give up and go back to the hotel and launch a law suit when the manager came over, apologized and said he would wave the fuel fee. Really sir? This whole time you had the power to do this but you out up a fight? Yea so customer service is not that great at all. The tour was excellent. Big thanks to our driver Jimmy who did a bang up job. He made up for the terrible customer service. He is the only reason this place gets two stars. read more

I took a tour of the South Rim and had an absolute blast! I had the "Do It All" package that included the Helicopter/Boat ride and the Skywalk. Before that, the bus stopped at Hoover Dam which had amazing views! After that, I arrived at the beautiful Grand Canyon! First, I went on the Helicopter ride that took me to the base of the canyon. The views from the chopper were AMAZING! It was definitely the highlight of my trip. After our party descended into the canyon, I rode a boat on the Colorado River. The guide down there was excellent. Finally, I capped off my tour with the Skywalk. I could only stand there a few minutes before my fear of heights kicked in, but it was a good experience! On the bus ride back to Las Vegas, the driver shared interesting tidbits about the Strip that I was totally unaware of! (Even as a Las Vegas resident.) Overall, I would highly recommend this tour! My daughter and I took the South Rim tour. We were a little late starting due to late arrivals from the other hotels (starting point was at Planet Hollywood). Our driver was very experienced and timed things to keep us just a head of other tours but still plenty of time at each stop. Buses were clean and amenities of electrical outlets and free WIFI are great. The Buffett lunch was very good and the restaurant was comfortable. Actually better then expected considering the price of the tour. Larry's (the drivers) experience was also so helpful in tips on using our time and when we'd have more time to shop for souvenirs. Movies and history videos (G Movies and videos appear on tv screens spaced throughout bus) were timed to end just before arriving at the next stop. What is not mentioned is the history of Route 66 which is part of the drive. It really inspires me to go back and visit the area on a road trip. Be prepared to return late, we didn't make it back until ten s o don't plan anything because the return time can vary depending on road construction, delays, and which hotel you're staying at. Both my 18 year old daughter and I would recommend this trip. We tripped the driver $30 which is average for two people. Ultimately a great value for the price. read more

Woke up hella early at 5:45 am to catch the bus outside our Flamingo hotel. Then we went to other hotels to pick up more people. We got breakfast on the bus (apple, breakfast bars, juice/water, nothing special) and drove until we reached the Grand Canyon. The tour guide was very entertaining: knew a lot about Vegas and the Grand Canyon and was very upbeat. They also showed a movie on the bus. Finally we made it to the Grand Canyon. Ooh it feels good to get off the bus! Awesome view, it's amazing how nature could craft something this beautiful! We had lunch at someplace by the Grand Canyon (nothing special, more like cafeteria food) and then spent a couple hours hiking and picture-taking. Afterwards, we got on the bus and drove by the Hoover Dam and made it to Vegas by 7 PM. Overall, it was a great experience, something you've got to see at least once in your lifetime! read more

Took my in-laws on the South Rim Bus Tour, and overall it was a good experience. The shuttle came promptly to our hotel at 6:20 am and took us to the check-in center at the PH Miracle Mile Shops. Check-in took a while (long line) and the breakfast snack was a little weak (pre-packaged sticky bun and small cup of coffee). Our driver was Coach Ed who was a little quirky but a real friendly guy. He was very informative and had a lot of useful commentary. The video sound system on the bus was all wacky though - some movies had softer volume and others were so very loud no one could sleep. I appreciated his efforts to beat the other buses so we could always get first crack at the rest areas, food, bathrooms, stops, etc. Our tour was supposed to arrive back in Vegas by 9:30 but we were dropped off in front of our hotel by 8:45 which we truly appreciated. The rest stop in Kingman was a little run down but got the job done. Lunch was a buffet in Williams and actually not that bad. When we finally got to the South Rim, we had 1 hour at one viewpoint and 1 hour at another. That was definitely enough time to snap dozens of photos, hit the bathrooms, and grab a snack. On the way back, we saw the Hoover Dam at night. I would recommend this tour. read more

If you can get past the hotel pick up 'cluster f*ck', then the cattle call, part 1 at the bus depot, then cattle call part 2 at lunch time, once you get there it is worth it! -if you can avoid the hotel pick up and go straight to the bus deport - do it, do it, do it!!! trust me.... I was told a 6:30a pick up at the Excalibur rotunda, that turned into a 10-15 bus mess. I had to go to every bus, and in the process an hour later I found out my bus left at 6:23a - yup, way before the 6:30 pick up. Lucky for me the bus was rerouted back to the hotel for pick up. -Cattle call #2 came at the lunch stop. We got 45 minutes to eat and half that time was spent in line waiting for food. There was not a single waiter to be found! if you can get past those 2 things - once you get to the Canyon - you will wonder why you waited so long to get there. We had a great tour guide - Larry. We made a stop at Hoover Dam, and watched a movie about the building of the dam. In addition we drove down historic route 66. This will be a long day for you - about 10 hours from start to end. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a few bottles of water, and tip your driver for a job well done! read more

I signed up for the Hoover Dam mini tour some time ago. The tour included a shuttle service from various hotels to the bus departure area, but the bus never came to my hotel. About five minutes after the scheduled time, I called them and they told me to wait. There was still no sign of their bus, so I contacted them again shortly after and they told me to take a taxi there. That was ridiculous in my opinion, but anyway I got to the building they told me to go to. It turned out that the Miracle Mile is a 1.2 mile-long shopping mall with a very complex underground road system that links several adjacent buildings as well. The "basement" as I was told could not have been more vague. The lady at the front desk of the mall seemed to work for a competitor, so she was rude and offered no help (I don't blame her though). After running into various dead ends and calling them several times, I found out that the bus would depart from the other side of the building. It took 5 minutes to sprint there with my stuff, and when I got there the bus already left. I could not believe this and tried to remain calm while I convinced the director to reschedule me for the next morning. I regrouped my plans and was prepared to reattempt the next day. The next day, the hotel shuttle was at least three minutes late and I didn't bother to wait. I just went to the mall. Well, my reservation somehow disappeared overnight, and although the director (same guy) clearly remembered me, he said I would have to be on a waiting list. Furthermore, he said that since being late yesterday was my fault, there would be no refund if I didn't get on. I had no words for this response. I sat around waiting while drafting a scathing review. Eventually, someone was running too late, perhaps suffering from the same fate that I did the day before, and I got on the bus. I should mention one other snafu before things were totally resolved. I had a carry-on (because I had to go to the airport right afterwards) and I was told that it was not allowed on the bus, not would the tour office store it for me. The reason has something to do with US security not allowing anything to be stored in the bus's lower compartment, so unless the carry-on could fit in the overhead bin, it couldn't be loaded. The director was sure the carry-on wouldn't fit but I proved him wrong, just barely - I had packed very lightly. So DON'T bring anything big. The Hoover Dam is an amazing human creation, but that's for another review not related to the actual tour company. The touring company just provided a bus to and from the attraction, which I had no complaints about. It's important noting that the majority of the tourists around me had smoother experiences, and my situation/treatment may have been an outlier. However, a company's rating here is a weighted average of its customers' opinions, and I cannot evaluate this company based on what service I think I could have received. read more

I found this company on Groupon and have always wanted to go on a tour of the Grand Canyon. I signed up to do the tour on a monday. I had a scheduled pick up time from my hotel at 645 am. Shuttle came a few minutes early so I was on my way. I was dropped off at the tour building at about 7. Went in for registration and a quick continental breakfast of coffee and a danish. I also grabbed a water then we boarded the bus. As you could probably expect they try to pack in as many as possible. So if you don't like crowds it may be better for you to do a more private tour. We rode for a few hours and made a rest stop to use the bathroom and stretch our legs. It was a McDonald with a small bathroom so the line was pretty long. There was a gas station across the lot and i walked on over. I would hope they would pick a better location to stop. Then back on the bus for a few more hours. The driver we has was pretty good and shared plenty of facts during the ride there. He even was able to answer questions we had about sight we saw. We made another stop for a buffet style brunch that was included in the price of the tour. I left a few dollars for a tip. The food was average but it filled me up. There were two other tour buses there so it can be a little crowded. After about another hour we arrived at the Grand Canyon for out first stop. We had a hour to walk around to sight see. Then back on the bus for a short ride to our second stop. There we had about a hour and a half to walk around before heading on the long ride back. It seemed to take forever since we only had one stop on the way back and it was pretty late. It was nice that I didn't have to drive so I was able to get in a pretty good nap. We had one stop at a Carl's Jr. We had 3 tour busses there so the line for the bathroom was super long. I hope they chnage it up and go to a actual rest area with better facilties. There was a little confusion when I originally scheduled the tour. I got an email stating it would happen at 7am. My buddy said I saw you schedule for 7pm. Called them and made the correction and asked for a new conformation email. They did. It was my buddy's birthday and we had the limo pick us up with no issues. We had a great pilot that was from our home state and we all hit it off. Needless to say, we are all a bunch of idiots when we are together but didn't say a word on the flight. I took a tour with this company three years ago. The tour was fine - nothing fancy and not much time at the Grand Canyon but we had a good time. However, the company neglected to tell me that their system was hacked and all of its customers personal information was stolen. A lady called with all of my personal information from that trip and wanted a new credit card number to refund the trip to me as another passenger had sued that same week. All a scam. When I called the Grand Canyon Tour Company the rep seemed less than sympathetic and said this happened to many of their customers and they reported it to the authorities as many customers cards had been charged thousands of dollars. Well if you had a breach in credit card info why didn't you contact all customers to inform them so they could change their card numbers! Cannot recommend due to this experience. read more

Booked a south rim tour. Started off really slow, bus took us to the Miracle Mile and then we got put on another bus after getting a danish and coffee/water to start off with. Took a while to get things organized. Stopped near the dam, a rest stop in Kingman, Az, then had a decent lunch in Williams, Az. The south rim is quite a drive. Once we got there, we had a couple of stops at the canyon for about an hour each, then headed back with one stop again in Kingman, Az. The south rim is a long trip, prepare accordingly. I purchased this tour through Groupon with a 20% discount. When I call the number to give my reservations, they wanted the Groupon reservation #. Well they told us to meet in the front of our hotel at 8:25. They never told us what kind of vehicle to look for. We were running a little late. Our hotel valet people told us to look for a black Audi. Which I thought was weird. We waited under a black awning for this company. We got there at 8:29. No one showed up. At 8:35, we didn't see a black Audi so we called them. They didn't even suggest to me to take a taxi to their location. They were just like u missed your pick up. I was like can a get a ride to meet you guys before u leave ?They told us if we can get to their location by 9, then we will be fine. So we uber to them. We waited until 0930 before we even left the Grand Canyon tour site to go to the Grand Canyon. Then when we got on the bus, there was a piece of paper in every chair that basically said that the driver expects an $8-$10 tip from every person. I don't know about this but if it's my money, I'll decided how much I want to give. I just thought that piece of paper was very tacky. The bus ride was very comfortable. We booked the south rim VIP tour. There was just the three of us on the tour. The Mercedes Sprinter was extremely comfortable. Shawn was our tour guide. We made a stop at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign then Hoover dam. Our next stop was a cool dive on RT. 66. When we got to the canyon we made several stops at the various lookout points. Shawn had his secret spot which is simply amazing. This is the way to see the Grand Canyon. It may cost more than the bus tours but it is worth it. It's a long drive from Vegas (3.5 hours) and I wouldn't want to be crammed in a bus with 60+ people. We will be back next year and will book this tour again. read more

170$, you could NOT even get on the bus. At the noon of Aug 10th, my gf and I made an order online for an Aug 11th trip to Grand Canyon through their website http://www.grandcanyontourcompany.com. Our time is limited. So after we placed the order we went for shows and casinos. When we came back to the hotel at about 10PM that night, we checked our email. We didn't receive confirmation email. We are not sure whether they arranged a trip for us or not. Office is closed at that time so we actually couldn't do anything else. We indeed wanted to go on the trip. However, we didn't want to get up at 5AM and for nothing. After serious consideration, we wrote an email to them to cancel the trip. We received an email from them on the second day, when we are supposed to be at Grand Canyon. The email said that our cancellelation couldn't get any refund since the time of our cancellation is in 48 hours before the trip. That's really ridiculous. I complained in two aspects to their manager Joe: 1. The time we placed our order is just one day before the trip. How could we cancel the trip in more than 48 hours before the trip? The cancellation term is not applicable to us. In our case, we didn't even have a chance to cancel the order. That's unfair. 2. Have the company really made any arrangement for us? I doubt that. The manager insisted that they had but why didn't we receive any call from the bus driver/tour guide the next morning to make sure? I provided my mobile number in their reservation form as required when I made the order. And now I will never know whether their bus showed up at our hotel or not. We complained this to their manager, and she said that she would check with the bus driver/tour guide and she would call back next day between 9:00AM-10:00AM. However, disappointed again, I didn't get any call from them. So I made a call to her again. Oh, God! THEY ARE REALLY BUSY. All that the manager said is some meanless sorry. But they are not gonna refund us. She promised a free trip to Grand Canyon next year when we get back to Las Vegas. That sounds like a beautiful lie. Do you guys believe international students will travel to las vegas for the second time in one year? As a service company, they never think from our aspect, they just insist their 48-hours term and they don't care whether you make the order in 48 hours before the trip. Do NOT book with these people! 1) There is NO wifi-false advertising. 2) They do not want you to use the onboard restroom-again false advertising. 3) The drivers are racist, sexist and inappropriate. Ours told us to 'Hurry and get off the bus because there was a bus load of Asians behind us." He also told us that bus drivers (like him) play a game trying to see how close they can get to tourists on the sidewalk. Crackpot old guy had no business working with the public! 4) This tour takes the whole day-12 hours! This should be a 10 hour max trip but you spend hours waiting for this and that. To start with, you are picked up at 6 am and taken to their depot. Then you wait around 1-2 hours before you get on the actual tour bus. Ugh. Do NOT use these people. Try Pink Jeep Tours. Unprofessionally and irresponsibly organized by the agency. When our pickup from MGM was late and we called to the office where the staff said that the pickup point was changed on the last minute, but no one of us were informed - neither did hotel staff know about this change, although I asked about it a day before and again on the same morning as we were supposed to go for the trip. There were 11 people of 3 different groups waiting. When we asked again about the pick us up from the original point, office refused and told us to walk to the opposite end of the huge hotel area despite that one of our family is partially disabled and has to use walking sticks. No one at the office was willing to help us to get the service we already had paid for in advance. We got easily to new pickup point despite that my relative walks very slowly - it was easy because the bus was almost an hour late. It took us to parking hall of another hotel with several hundred other clients. The bizarre morning mayhem was some sort of a check in number 2. We had to stand in snake like line to check us in again and after that wait in another line to get the promised morning snack. No one took responsibility to organize this procedure and it was just chaotic. I would have think this episode as some how amusing, like a bad joke which is bad and good at the same time, if I weren't travelling with my 2 kids and physically challenged mother in law. The second bus left finally almost 2 hours late... but this didn't spoil our trip completely. We stayed in Elara next to Planet Hollywood so the departing place for the tour was only 170 steps away from Elara's door into the Miracle Mile. That made it easy plus we were early (arrived 6:00AM) to get our choice of seats. We had two relatives that were picked up at South Point and they took over an hour to get to the departing place due to their shuttle bus picking up people at various hotels to finally arrive at the bottom of the escalator in the Miracle mile. Approximately 600 people gather there each morning for the tours. This is where you also pick up your morning "snack" which consists of a drink (water/soda/ice tea) and a small pastry or other little thing to eat. Nothing much to speak of for the snack. The bus was comfortable although not a real luxury vehicle. Our seats did not decline. Small stowage above seat and on floor so you can bring your own stuff/food. Your seats remain yours for the entire trip so you can leave stuff there and it's there when you get back one. There is some storage underneath such as for a stroller as we noticed when one person brought their young baby. We took off from the departure approx. 7:30am and had one small stop mostly for bathrooms and of course you had to walk thru the store to get to them. There is a small bathroom at the rear of the bus. Our driver was Tom or Tommy. He was a character and was a wealth of information about the area. He played a few videos on the way out and they were interesting and appropriate. On the way back he played a family approved movie (Sandra Bullock and the football player). We stopped for lunch at some place where they served all you can eat hot lunch. It actually was pretty good which was surprising. We got to the Canyon about 2:30PM or so although it was a 1 hr time difference from Las Vegas. We had great weather so we chose to walk from Mather's point to the Bright Angel Lodge which was 2.6 miles along the rim of the canyon. It was a good decision and got to Bright Angel lodge with about an hour to spare even taking our leisurely time on the way. Tons of photos and spots to take pictures. The walk is not straight as you curve around the canyon so the shadows and views change along the way. Spectacular! We were all pleased with the trip. On the way back we realized that the driver was going to drop people off hotel by hotel. He didn't bring us back directly to the departure point, so we elected to get off with our relatives at South Point to avoid the long trip back to the miracle mile due to the numerous stops. We got back approximately 9:45PM and I imagine it took another hour before the bus finally arrived back at the Miracle Mile. This was actually good as the bus driver commended us for being back to the bus on time each stop, we didn't have to wait for anyone. On the way back we saw the Hoover Dam lit up at night from the overpass/bypass bridge. We also stopped for one rest stop on the way back. It's a been there done that now but if I had to do it over again as a first time, knowing what I know, I would do it. Never again! I was supposed to be picked up at 6:15 at my hotel. The bus never came. I called the dispatcher and the bus driver said I missed the bus and he wouldn't be coming back. This was not true. The dispatcher told me to take a cab to the meeting point and I would be refunded - we'll see if I'm actually provided a refund. The meeting point was a chaotic mess, and I realized I was on only one of 11 packed buses. If you take thís tour, be prepared to be just one of ~600 travelers headed to the Canyon - and all 11 buses made the same stops, so restroom lines were a nightmare and the lunch buffet took 30 minutes to get through because there are only two small buffet service areas. The staff at the lunch restaurant were quite rude and inefficient, but that's not GCT's fault. Finally, the bus is cramped (much smaller than an airplane seat). With stops, lunch, and traffic getting into the park, expect a 7.5 hour trip from your hotel to the park and then another 5+ hour journey back to your hotel. Also, I was not dropped off at my hotel but rather across the street and one long block up. Do yourself a favor and do not take the day trip - maybe one of GCT's VIP tours are easier on the nerves. read more
