He showed up on the day of with a smile on his face and instantly got to work making everyone feel and look gorgeous. I think his pricing changes based on his mood, which is unfortunate. I didn't dispute the charge bc it's the holidays and I'm guessing he needs the money - his studio was never busy when I was there and he always had an open schedule for appointments. But I learned my lesson the hard way so want to warn others.

Honestly, I felt uneasy and off-kilter the minute I waked into his salon and I wish I had trusted my instincts. He talked over me and ignored me when I told him what I wanted. He insisted over and over that he would "keep the length" and only add some layers, then whisked me away from the mirror so I couldn't see what he was doing. He had his assistant film me for his website without bothering to ask for my permission (when I pointed out that he should have asked first, he rolled his eyes at me). He then cut off several inches of my hair, leaving me with nearly nothing. When I saw what he had done I was devastated but tried to stay calm. I said, "I really wish you had warned me what you were going to do beforehand." He began storming up and down the hair salon ranting and raving about how ungrateful I was to "give him this sh*t" and how I will never find anyone who can cut my hair like he can. He kept shouting: "It's NOT short, it just LOOKS short and FEELS short" (whatever that means -- it took five months to grow back). As the daughter of a narcissist, I caught on pretty quickly as to what was happening. I just stood there apologizing over and over again with tears in my eyes, insisting it was all my fault and that I really loved the haircut while he continued to berate me. I was scared and wanted to get out of there as quickly as I could. There was no one else in the salon except his assistant and two waiting clients who were watching in visibly horrified silence. After five full minutes of him shouting and me apologizing, after I paid AND tipped, he calmed down and "forgave" me. I cried all the way home. Now I know why the man works alone -- he is a full-fledged narcissist and I'm sure he has burned all his professional bridges. Please go somewhere else! I cut my own hair during the COVID-19 lockdown and honestly did a better job and it didn't cost me $200.

I mentioned a permanent lip enhancement, having the bags under my eyes removed and taking away what my mother loving called "A Turkey Neck" with a face lift. My friend suggested that I contact Lorin Cole before spending a fortune on plastic surgery and have her do a "makeover" for me. I wasn't sure as I have had my make-up done before and was lets say...very unhappy and never felt natural when they were done. Since I really didn't want to go "under the knife" I felt it was worth a call. Well it was the BEST thing I have ever done! I could not believe the transformation and in fact didn't recognize the younger woman staring back at me in the mirror when she was done. Aside from the age difference, my makeup was flawless and extremely natural. I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to duplicate my "youthful look" but proved myself wrong. I don't think I have ever met anyone with such patience and skill for teaching. Lorin spent a lot longer than the scheduled consultation time and would not except more money (which I was gladly willing to pay). She explained to me that it was more important the I was happy with the final result. She showed me step by step how to do the "tricks" at home that made me feel so much better about myself. Lorin is a true artist and one of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever dealt with. I can't recommend her highly enough. The experience was…read moreseverely lacking for the price I paid, and Lorin herself does not seem like a competent makeup artist. Some points: - Lorin plucked and removed a large segment of my eyebrow, despite my telling her not to do so - Lorin didn't have a foundation color that matched my skin tone (shocking for a professional makeup artist). When I told her that I thought the color didn't match my skin, she tried to tell me that the color itself wasn't important and I need to go find my color by myself at a cosmetics store, when this was exactly one of the reasons I was paying for a lesson - the space itself was cluttered and tiny. I sat on a stool in a tiny bathroom throughout the lesson. The lighting in this bathroom was also quite poor and yellow in tone, which wasn't conducive to seeing and matching colors. At the end of the lesson, my face looked bizarre and the end makeup look wasn't flattering. When I told her I wanted to remove it before leaving, she commented, "don't worry, this is NYC, there are lots of crazy-looking people walking on the streets." Just, wow.
