I have found two varieties that do well in planters. Portulaca, also known as Purslane, does very well. It comes in various colors and fun fact; you can eat it. Add the blossoms to salads or eat it right out of the planter. Check it carefully before you pop it into your mouth. Sometime there is extra protein hiding in the blossoms. The other plant I am having great success with is Pentas. They are tough and hardy. An added benefit, they attract butterflies. I think both of these plants could be classified as pretty weeds. Gordon immediately knew what I was looking for and said he would have someone check to make sure they had it in stock and call me back. Since it was closing time, he called me the next morning to confirm they did have it. He took her information, my information and we made arrangements for delivery. My friend called this morning to say she received the plant and it was delivered by Gordon himself! He even took the time to take a quick look at her backyard as she is planning on redoing the landscaping.
