The owner, Emilio Uribe, is a fabulous modern-day renaissance man, collecting (and creating) tons of interesting clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags, other accessories and artwork from both vintage and up-and-coming designers/artists. One never knows what to expect when coming back to Haus Fashion Lab.. The owner makes absolutely sure that the store, just as the customer's experience, is continuously evolving. Every time I go back the store seems to have re-invented itself with a new layout or new line of clothing/accessories or newly-acquired vintage items. HFL is fully committed to detail and to providing customers with a vast array of interesting, beautiful objects and personalized service. On one occasion, I witnessed the owner styling (and doing make-up for) a celebrity for a red-carpet event while agreeing to make custom pants for another customer's 12 year old daughter (to match her mother's) while coordinating a fashion shoot going on across the street at Wynwood Walls.... and he still had the time to make each and every customer feel welcomed as he/she walked through the door! I'd say the bar is the smaller of the three aspects of the location. It's fun to look at the various sorts of clothing offered at the location, they bring in some interesting designers so the selection is pretty varied. The bar also offers a couple leather couches to relax on which are comfortable and nice way to relax from all the walking that is common around Wynwood. I wasn't able to stay too long, but one last thing I noticed was a DJ spin table on the bar, so I'd imagine this place has the potential to get really fun at night once they are more established.

This shopping experience is best for those who know what they want or have a good eye. Last time I came I was looking for a flowy, strapless white top and with the help of a young woman found a few to choose from. As far as other posts regarding being followed. I'd say it depends on your perspective; I like to think of it as having my own personal shopping assistant ready to help answer any questions I may have. Take advantage, you can ask for pricing and sometimes they can help with sizing and fit as well. This was the biggest problem for me because even though I found a pair of linen pants, there is no way I could buy them without trying it on first. So if you want to shop here, I recommend coming in leggings and a small tank so you can slip on the clothes without needing a fitting room. (But don't let them see you ... I think the rule is that you aren't allowed to try stuff on... not just that they don't have fitting rooms.) And I was followed around for several minutes (in case I steal something??) before I turned to the sales person and asked her if I was in her way. She said no and left me alone. Honestly, its no different than any part of Miami. I don't know what the big deal is. Mr. Black is a self made business man who started a business with $15 dollars selling socks on a street corner. He is the definition of entrepreneur. His store, like him is full of potential. The clothes is mostly for women although the store is expanding to men's fashion as well. I think the clothes could be best described as sexy. All of the items and bold and most are colorful. All in all, I was excited to meet such an interesting character.
