This is an elegant, first class, traditional Bed & Breakfast with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The mansion is less assuming on the outside than the White Inn, which I've stayed at many times before, but is much classier, far more comfortable, and much higher quality. Martin and Phillip create a peaceful and cozy home away from home with glowing fireplaces, soft music, bottomless cups of tea/coffee, and impeccable and creative Farm to Table meals that alone make the stay worth your while. It also included everything you need for the beach; towels, chairs, umbrella, blankets and books! We loved our lunch and looking for sea glass. No detail goes unnoticed in the room, the towels are soft and match the floor rugs beautifully. Robes are available for guests and plenty of outlet space for charging is around the room. A note to visitors: the shared refrigerator for guests is only a mini-fridge, so there isn't much storage space. We'd suggest planning ahead and bringing a cooler for any larger items you wanted to store - or calling ahead to see about options. When we wanted to chill champagne, Lesley was wonderful to assist us with an ice bucket and two glasses! I highly recommend a trip here - friendly, relaxing, and so comfortable!

Jan was always very friendly and often went out of her way telling about various activities that were happening at the time in Lilydale. It is very peaceful there and the lake and dock are available to guests. Be aware there are stairs to rooms and stairs down to the guest kitchen, common living room and showers. (2) The basement showers were super small and not the best. I'm 5'8" and had to duck to shower. My mom insists that I write that she was "so creeped out she refused to shower" -- I've traveled a lot in developing countries and was ok showering and also took a bath once that wasn't so bad... my mom also points out that I am comparing their bathroom ($80/night for two people) to hostels in SE Asia (which was "luxury" $10/night per person). (3) The smell, especially in our rooms (we moved rooms once because the AC room was booked for half our stay), was generally off-putting. (4) There are no keys to the bedrooms. All this being said - we didn't go to Lily Dale for the accommodations. Jan was friendly and her daughter next door who teaches yoga and runs the other B&B was super nice too. We still had an amazing (!!!) time during our stay at Lily Dale and just wished we had planned with the above knowledge in mind.

The owner was nice and accomodated us on the night that we needed to stay instead of the night that was actually booked through their system. Below is a list of pros and cons. I would not recommend staying here. My husband and I stayed in the 101 Davis room. Pros: Extremely comfortable King size bed, Clean, non smoking, internet access, 2 soft bath robes provided, plenty of towels provided, owner was nice and accomodating given the situation. Cons: Everything was outdated and in need of an upgrade: cracked stained ceiling, old carpet, window air conditioning unit that sounded like it was going to take off. The private bathroom is across hallway- not connected to room and the window in bathroom did not open nor did it have an exhaust fan. The dorm fridge provided was hardly balancing on an old chair, not safe or stable at all. Lastly their breakfast was okay at best. I've had better breakfast at hotel chains that offer continental breakfast. All that was offered was scrambled eggs, sausage and some fruit. No homemade pastries,pancakes,potatoes, quiche or typical "Bed and Breakfast" food. No jelly or jam and the 4 slice toaster didn't cut it when you had a room full of people waiting to make toast. We were very disappointed, especially after reading the good reviews from others.
