I had been experiencing pain from a broken tooth and was looking for a new dentist since my former one retired. Rauchberg came highly recommended, so I made an appointment and was able to be seen the next day. I have anxiety when it comes to medical stuff in general but the staff was very friendly, gentle and understanding. I ended up having to get an extraction, and Lina and the doctor took very good care of me. I had the utmost respect for Dr. Rauchberg. I thought he was a stand-up guy. I, like most Americans, I live paycheck to paycheck. I scrimped and I saved, living on cans of soup and pasta so I can get my teeth fixed. See, I struggled with addiction, and it ruined my mouth. I've been ashamed of it, as a result. I finally had the money to get the work I've been pining for--I saved up $4800. I was going to get a bridge and a partial denture on the lower teeth. I was quoted a price that would get covered. Well, Rauchberg Dental Group, after years of loyal patronage, screwed me. They forced me to get a deep cleaning. Something I didn't want. They used lame cliches like "building a house, you need a solid foundation..." (being patronizing is a big favorite amongst the billing lady, Christina, who is a dishonorable person, and apparently, Dr. Rauchberg, himself, too. That deep cleaning, that I never wanted, took up over $1200 of my $2000 allotment for dental insurance. See, here's the thing, places like this think they can take over your money and spend YOUR insurance as they see fit. They ate up all my allotment. Fine. They could have said, "Hey Al, it's December. Why not wait until the new year to get the bridge?" They didn't. Because they quoted me at $4667 for the bridge and denture. They never said it was predicated on how much insurance I had left or didn't. We agreed on a price, and they reneged. When I challenged them, asking them why I was bullied into that hygienist chair...a house...foundation...derrrrr. They stole my insurance money, and then took the $4800 I scrimped and saved for, and put it all towards the bridge. They...THEM...took my money and paid themselves what they felt was a fair price. They took domain over my hard-earned money...and spent it the way THEY SAW FIT! When I asked the dentist why he did this to me after all these years of loyal patronage..."DERRR (he didn't say that, this is what I heard,) house...foundation..." In my not so humble opinion, this is tantamount to theft. They forced me to get a procedure I didn't want. Are now scrambling to justify it...so they can keep my $4800. So now, money I could have used to do dental tourism, to go to another country and get my whole mouth done, is gone. In their pockets. I can't afford the partial denture; I can't go to another country. All because they chose to spend my money the way THEY WANTED! Dr. Rauchberg and this Christina woman are cowards and weaklings. They could have done what was right over what was easy, they chose to do what was easy. DO not go here. Find another dentist. One that will look out for your FINANCIAL interests, not "to build a house..." My heart is broken. You think someone has your back and it a good guy. Turns out to be a fraud. I had a very bad experience today. The receptionist treated me like absolute crap, and I suspect it may be because I am Muslim, and I see her give excellent customer service to other patients, so I know for a fact that she's capable of treating people decently. She yells at me, overcharges me, and doesn't even bother to check my insurance. She said, "you did a filling with a crown, and your total is $597". However, Dr. Rauchberg waived the price of the filling because he operated on the wrong side of the tooth in the past, causing harmful complications. The waive was his way of reimbursing me for that mistake. When I informed her of this, she just gave me a dirty look and said dismissively, "yes yes I see it now". Keep in mind that all of her interactions involve yelling, a nasty attitude, and the behavior of an unprofessional, and possibly discriminating and offputting individual. Two hours later, her manager calls me and tells me "we love people of all shapes and sizes", as she simultaneously proceeds to berate me and then she just hangs up on me. I brought this issue previously to Dr. Rauchberg's attention, but no corrective action was taken. Weirdly enough, there is a complete disconnect between the attitude of the receptionists (nasty and berating) versus the professionalism of the actual doctors. I agree with everything in the other reviews. This place really does make me feel like they are after you money and does not care about you as a patient or person. Katalina at the front desk is rude and unhelpful. She claims that she is right while my insurance company is lying to me about my coverage. Meanwhile, I was not explained what the expenses of my procedure would be when they claimed to have told me. If I knew the cost of it, I would not have gone through with the treatment at that time. I feel that their whole process is vague on purpose and if you don't take initiative to ask, they will try to screw you out of every penny. 12/18/15 Edit - I wanted to take time to come back and edit my review. Though it has been a tiring week in advocating for myself to get my wrongfully charge fees returned to me, I did want point out that Christina has been super helpful in supporting me on this. I was informed that the person who made the mistakes in my paperwork will be suffering serious consequences and will be receiving a credit to my account within 24 hours. I do want to give credit where it's due and thank them for taking my review seriously and acting on it so quickly to mitigate the problem. I was referred to Rauchberg dental group by my daughter in law and I couldn't be happier. The office staff is pleasant to deal with and the whole unit is sanitized with an air purification system. Dr Rauchberg explains all your options and his assistant Iris is very thorough and has a great sense of humor to put your mind at ease. His dental hygienist (whose name escapes me) was so gentle and thorough and I am very sensitive. I would highly recommend this practice you won't be disappointed. read more

Went there today for their new patient special and was very happy with the overall experience. Charge was $159 for full set of x-rays, cleaning, and exam. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The hygienist took her time, and I had no pain or discomfort at all. She recommended having a tooth extracted, but said it was not an emergency. Dr. Rauchberg said the same thing when he came in; I appreciated that no one tried to scare me into a procedure that I may not need for years. He asked if I had any questions and took his time. Sorry to see other reviews with low ratings. Perhaps the staff has been changed in recent years. Only minor complaint is that the waiting room is very noisy. This place only cares about your money. Front desk area is beyond rude and talks to patients like idiots. Not to mention NO patient confidentiality. Had a root canal done... 2 years and it fell out. Filling done and tooth looks horrible. And all the billing/receptionist cared about was balance. Not that I had no tooth etc. which she yelled across office. Really??? I do not recommend this practice at all. Advice if Dr. Rauchberg reads this... you need NICER front desk staff who actually show compassion and don't talk down to patients. Had several visits now with the endodontist who was rude and extremely rough. I handle pain better than most but never want to be near that dentist again. The staff member handling payment was also very rude. They want your money which is fine if you get quality care. I received awful care. The only reason I'm giving them two stars instead of one because the medical staff is very friendly & knowledgeable even though they are probably getting family & friends to write the only positive reviews here. The office staff on the other hand has been rude to me and my family for years. I feel like a nuisance calling them or having an appointment. Several experiences include: not updating my contact information when I told them to and still calling my old number for an appointment, canceling my appointment for an office party and not trying to get a hold of me, cutting me off when I'm talking, not following up to me asking about my records, etc. I'm so happy I moved out of state so I don't have to deal with them. Do not go here. This place has done nothing but lie and overcharge where ever they can. The manager is extremely rude and the women at the front desk do not seem to care at all about patients. Over the past month I have gone to several consultations and have received different prices on everything. The only reason I even continued to have consultations was because of Dr. DiGorgio. She was the only one there who actually cared to explain things to me only to then be completely outdone by what the office manager does and how she runs the office. On my first visit I was quoted $1200 for a product I was told worked just as Invisalign, when I came back to get this done, I was told I was incorrectly informed not just in the price but that the product was no good and they refused to use it (which was kind of weird since they had all but charged me for the procedure already and I said I would not pay until service was rendered). In this same appointment I was quoted for Invisalign over $4200 at the start, after I said I could not and would not pay that, the price miraculously dropped down to $2000 after a few random clicks of Christina's handy calculator. Completely outrageous difference in cost not to mention higher than the national average. Christina then insisted to run my credit for their payment program and basically filled the whole thing out by herself from my information on file and I was not even handed a paper to sign for consent (which I saw on her screen that there was a step where you print out and have the patient sign for consent). I then informed them I did not want to go through with this and I stated I wanted to speak with the doctor and was shrugged off. I called back the office when I got home with my mother, who is a friend of his, and immediately was greeted by Christina where she said she would have the doctor call me back and that she "hopes it was nothing (she) had done." I received no call from the doctor but instead received a call from the office manager who insisted her staff had done nothing wrong and had quoted me correctly. I agreed to come back in to just get a quote on my permanent retainer, which was the original reason for my visit to them all along, which had broken. Now this is no fancy retainer, just a metal wire set behind my top front teeth to prevent any movement. I had had braces for over 6 years and have had these retainers for the last 10 years, during which these have gotten loose a few times, but that is expected, and have never paid over $70 to fix each one. Now I finally go in today to get quoted for this retainer fix, had not yet said I was going to do it for a funny feeling that they would over charge, and of course they tried to. Now the office manager is now telling me that it is $450 because Dr. DiGorgio now has to cut a "fabricate" an entire new retainer. Now first off you are cutting a wire from and spool and basically cementing it to my teeth, a process that takes no more than 30 minutes if that, and I have gotten this done in my life quite a few times, there is no way that is the cost. I start to argue the price with them and behold with a few short seconds the price has gone down almost half to $250. At this point the office manager has a complete attitude and is defensive with me. I say I am not doing it and not paying so much and go to walk out and the office manager is blocking my way. As I go to walk out I see Dr. DiGorgio again standing right outside with another woman wearing a face mask (who I assume would have helped her with my retainer, almost like an assistant nurse) and they are standing with their arms crossed and I start to tell her that I will not be doing this because of the price inconsistencies and the office managers demeanor. As I walk out I am stared at by all of their office workers. I have literally never felt so disrespected in my life. I have no idea how this place receives any good reviews at all, nor how they have been in business for so long. read more

This place does decent work but will for sure over charge you! I have never been charged so much for dental work. I then spoke to a few other friends and all have had the same experience. I paid 185 because they assumed that's what insurance won't cover, then sent me a bill for another 245. The total bill for my services was 450. So I asked insurance only covered 20? They said yes. I called Delta Dental and they said they paid 80 % of my bill. I three wayed the rep and called back the girl said her computer crashed and couldn't give details. For me, this was not a great experience. I had recently gotten my teeth checked out and learned I needed a root canal, Rauchberg Dental Group came up in a google search, advertising root canals starting at $599, with a free consultation. My dentist had quoted the entire thing would cost me $1,700, so I figured I would give Rauchner a call. The secretary told me that yes, they did have a root canal special, and encouraged me to come in for a free consultation. I went in that day and told them about how I was getting a second opinion, was there because I had seen the root canal price advertised online, and that my dentist was offering me the service for $1,700, but I was looking for something cheaper. In the end, their root canal was going to cost $3,000 total, $1,400 just for the root canal- which is not even close to what was advertised. Before this, they said that they might be able to treat it as a cavity, which would only cost $400, but they wouldn't know until they begun. I read this as a way to get me in for the root canal. They then said that I owed them $60 for the appointment (even though the secretary had said it was a free consultation) and even said they were giving me a better price than the advertised online special! I paid it because they did take some x-rays, so I wasn't expecting it to be free, I just feel they should have made that clear before they took them. If you have great dental insurance and cost is not your concern, then this place isn't bad. They saw me at my appointment time, and the dentist was available for me to ask questions (although every time i asked about price he brushed me off), and the office is very nice. However, I feel that they should have paid better attention to my needs, and realized they could not offer me what I was looking for and saved us all some time. I went in very clear that my bottom line was price, but I felt taken advantage of and bullied into paying them the appointment fee. read more

Very bad experience. My wife went for her appointment for a general cleanup. They did her x-ray and her photographs taken which took 1 hour. After that, the doctor was called. The appointment was setup with "Dr Alan Rauchberg" as I had seen good experience for him online but the doctor which came was "Dr Rimma" and I am not sure how much experience she has. I was told that she was doctor for children and her online profile does not show much experience. After looking at the x-rays, she told that 7 teeths have cavities. My wife had her appointment with dentist just 5 months back and then she had just 1 tooth with cavity. The previous dentist also showed her the cavity and gave her options of what can be done. At Rauchberg, they just said that the 7 teeths have cavity (not told how bad) and it would take more than a couple of appointments. They said to share the reports with the patient or even any other dentist for second opinion, they need 35$. They refused to do a general cleaning and said that a deep cleaning will be needed which would cost around 300$ copay with a good dental insurance I have. When asked why can't they do a general cleaning and we can setup some other time for deep cleaning, the receptionist said that my wife needs deep cleaning otherwise she can have problem like diabetes, heart disease, pancreatic cancer etc. I was really surprised at how the receptionist were throwing out the various disease names when my wife just had her cleanup 5 months back and everything was fine. They were not ready to give in writing the pre-treatment cost or time required for any recommended service like cavity treatment etc. Worst thing was that even for sharing the patient report with the patient or a different dentist, they were asking 35$. I myself went to a Orthodontics who did my x-ray and various pictures taken and sent everything to me on my e-mail with 0$ charged for anything as it was free consultation. I just see Rauchberg trying to mint out as much money from the patient as possible. When you have setup an appointment with a doctor, he should be the one who sees you not just any random person. The receptionist should think before she speaks out as you are putting bad thoughts in the patient's mind as if it is the end of the world. My visit went waste and nothing was done except waste of time. Sharing the reports or x-rays with patient should not be charged as the patient will have to pay from his pocket for that. When I went for my appointment they removed 1 tooth instead of 2, after cutting my gum they never followed up on me. When I went to have another tooth removed doctor didn't show up. On top of that they wanted me to pay for another booking. I tried to contact them in regards with my balance and also to express my sentiments , they kept ignoring me. Told me they would call back but upto now they haven't phoned. All they care about is money and sadly I can't afford being mistreated, besides I don't have that money. I was attracted by an office with modern equipment and what looked like a great practice, but in reality, they are horrible and should be reported to the state medical board for their unethical statements and flat out lies to their patients. They were the friendliest and outgoing staff. After my initial cleaning when I first met Dr. Rauchberg, after the usual pleasantries, his first remark to me was...Oh! You look like you grind your teeth? Which I agreed and said, yes I do. He then proceeded to tell me that they can fix that with Botox. I said great...Is it covered by insurance? He said no. I said thanks but no thanks then. He turned and walked out of the room and that was my first impression. My second impression with them was when I was finally in the chair with whoever it was, and instead of working on any problematic teeth that may have cavities, the doctor told me that we need to take out all my crowns because they can't see what damage is underneath them. I had told her that I have no problems with those teeth but she insisted that we remove it and then we can look into getting an implant for that tooth. Really? Who has the money for implants which are considered cosmetic in their office and insurance doesn't cover it! Let's just say....these so called professionals are the nightmares that children are scarred with when it comes to dentist. I believe Dr. Rauchberg does much un-necessary work to maximize his office's revenue stream and have left his office after 20 years as a patient. Because he deliberately drilled out almost all of my silver fillings and replaced them with porcelain I am now about to lose my left rear molar because the tooth became fragile, fractured and now will need to be pulled and replaced with an implant costing me upwards of $2,000 that my dental plan does not cover. Last year I needed a root canal and crown on a tooth he refilled with a ceramic filling that was less than 4 years old when it too broke, caused an infection that resulted in major repair work. The Rauchberg Dental Group has grown into a fairly large office with multiple dentists and one feels like one is part of an assembly line where the dentists, dental assistants and hygienists are all "up-selling" you to further maximize their cash flow. I am just sorry I did not push back when Dr. Alan told me he just had to replace all the silver fillings; my new dentist told me that they do NOT do that unless they are cracked, broken or in some other way problematic. I am also mad at myself for not heeding my own suspicions FIVE years ago that I was being milked for money and undergoing treatments that probably were not absolutely necessary. There are far too many dentists out there to stay stuck with one who views his patients as a consistent revenue stream without regard for the real dental and medical necessity for much of the work they do. I had gone to Rauchberg Dental about a decade ago, and though they had state of the art technology, the hygienist I saw was very critical of my oral health & hygiene, to the point that I felt humiliated. I had been going through health issues & was hospitalized, so my oral hygiene was not in ship-shape, but I had done the best I could to keep my mouth clean & healthy. The female dentist that I had seen, left me alone while I was waiting for the nitrous oxide to take effect for a crown they said I needed, and I felt very uneasy with no one monitoring me. Also, while she worked on my mouth, I sat quietly, and she suddenly told me that "if I don't calm down, she'll have to close up shop". I had no idea why she told me that! I gave 2 stars, because the receptionist, back at that time, was very kind & understanding when I called their office to tell them I would not return. I went here for a whitening treatment which was OK (had a lot of sensitivity after the treatment. I indicated that I had a family dentist and wasn't looking to make a switch. The office staff was not very friendly and I still drive to PA to go to my dentist I have had for years as the service far exceeds the inconvenience of the trip. The reason I am writing the negative review is I wasn't wowed at all and worst since this whitening appointment I continue to receive spam emails and have received calls and texts from them when I have expressed the desire not to be contacted. I recently moved to this area and need to find a nearby dentist. After reviewing many reviews on-line, this place seems ok, so I decided to give it a try. However, my first experience was very mixed. On one hand, I have to be honest to say their hygienist is super friendly, knowledgeable, and professional; on the other hand, their billing staff/receptionist is super rude and refused to correct overcharged/mis-categorized bill to me. My mistake is I did not ask for cost estimation before my visit, so when I was told the total out -of pocket could be $250 right after my insurance coverage (which is 70%)after new patient evaluation, I think it's fine, and asked them to go ahead. However, at the end of procedure paying bill, I was told I have to pay $328. At that time, I felt regretted that I did not ask for cost break down before handing over my credit card because I was in such a pain and wanted to be rest at home, so just paid for what the receptionist told me - her name is Christina. After rest a while at home, I realized I need to double-check their bill calculation, and found a negative number under patient-please-pay section. To me, it seems I was over-paid. So for the second time, I have to stop by the office and asked for bill break down with calculation explanation. Again, Christina was very rude and claimed even I call my insurance; their numbers are still in no doubt. Since it's during my lunch hour, I have to be rush back to work without further argument. Later on, after calling my insurance customer representative, the truth I found is theyover-charged me for adding a separate item as D9630:medicines office or home, which is not correct. Based on my insurance check, all the medicines related to my deep cleaning procedure should not be billed separately by using this wrong code. So, for the third time, I had to stop by this office, and ask Christina to correct that mistake. As usual, she was very rude and refused to correct. When I asked for what is the medicine name used for this code, she was un-able to answer. Then I want to verify whether this charge is for numbing, the response I got is they do not charge for it, and it's free. I do not believe it, so I re-phrased their words as "do you mean the charge for numbing is already included in another item - D4341: Scaling/root planning per quad?". They did not deny at all. So I consider it as YES. The conclusion is in order to charge more, they added separate billing item for the medicines used as part of other procedure. DO NOT GO HERE!! Here's how this place works: You go there, they come up with a thousand things that they should do for your teeth and say you must get these done; even though they are not crucial and definetly not an emergency! and then they "estimate" what your insurance will pay, and what you "owe" and they make you pay the money you might "owe" at the office. After your insurance pays---you realize you OVERPAID the amount of money you should have "owed." and boy is it HELLL trying to get a refund! They come with a million excuses to not refund that money.... They try to get the FULL amount the treatment is, regardless of what the contracted amount is through your insurance. The rule is... the dentist MUST except the payment the insurance sends, nothing more than that! but they will do anything to get more money from you! This is insurance fraud! The staff is RUDE, especially the insurance handler, Lisa;she will do anything so she doesn't return you your money. No other dentist place works this way; I had to get my insurance involved!plus you have to pay if you ever have an emergency and cant make it to ur appoint. FULL treatment pay!
