We ordered two waffle cones, which were advertised as $3.75 each. However, when we got our total, it came out to $10.70. Confused, we asked about the discrepancy, and the staff casually said, "Oh, that's just tax." But after doing the math (8.25% combined state and city tax), that just didn't add up-it should've been $0.61 in tax, not nearly $3 more. We went back in to get clarification, only to be told that the cone prices had recently increased by $1 each. Even with that adjustment, the math still didn't work. It feels like they're just making up numbers and overcharging customers, which is incredibly frustrating. It's a shame because we're in town all week and had planned to come back nightly, but after this experience, we won't be returning at all. The drinks were not great. We got them for our husbands' and they said they tasted off. We've always had a great drinks and mostly friendly service. This was just uncomfortable and uncalled for. I've worked customer service and get it. If it was 10 minutes before close, it would have been a different story and we wouldn't have even showed up. Right after we left, another couple entered and we wondered if they recieved the same service. Both our husbands complained that the drinks tasted "off" compared to normal and told us the Catclaw location was usually rude to them. Not going back. It's small and quaint with a shelf of natural or local foods (the local honey especially catches the eye), but a majority of what is sold is... water. Water containers and water. I know we're made of 70% water, but it seems a little odd to me to have a store that is too. It's apparently 9 times filtered and reverse osmoted, though, so if you're gooooing to go to a store to specifically buy water, I guess this is the place. The real gem, however, is their fresh squeezed juice, and this is the sole reason I come here. They freshly squeeze lemons, limes, and/or oranges into their pure water with just enough simple syrup to take the sour edge off. Order a "jackaroo" if you want all three juices. It's delicious and worth a stop by for a tasty, refreshing drink.
