a couple sitting at a table

I've visited Ravine once before and was treated to a wonderful private dinner in their basement event space. The food was delicious and wine was fabulous too. This most recent trip was no exception. We had a more casual tasting at a high top table under their tent overlooking the vineyard. Ravine is definitely more expensive than other wineries I've been to, but based on my opinion of the wine quality, it's fair. At this spot I tried an unoaked chardonnay (apparently less of the standard chardonnay taste which I don't love so this was a good experiment). It was pretty good! Next I opted for a rose which I found a bit sweet and two reds which I loved. We all really enjoyed the reserve red and took some home to enjoy with dinner.

Amazing vineyard around NOTL. Staff were friendly and helpful, explained very well each type of wine. Did their tasting with a focus on red wines. Their wines are amazing and bold. This winery has a restaurant and a cute little shop at the back. Before leaving, got a couple bottles and some can of pear cider, which were tasty.

The 2017 CPBI (Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute) is having its annual conference in Niagara Falls, ON, this week. Our gala night was held nearby at Ravine Vineyards Estate Winery. We started in the cellar with the tasting of three wines ... a bubbly, a white and a red. All were delicious. You can buy their wines online or onsite along with preserves, cheese, etc. Elisa took us to the vineyards and talked about the vines, grapes, etc. Laura Secord's brother, David's house is where the tastings and store are. There were about 90 of us and we had supper in a cozy tent. There was more wine and appies before supper and the main was braised short rib, which was delicious. It was a fun time and I'd suggest you check out Ravine if you are in the area.

Ravine absolutely never disappoints, even during a global pandemic! I had a fantastic lunch at Ravine with my family. I have the penne pasta with mushrooms and chicken, my wife had the butternut squash soup, and my daughter had their legendary burger. The star of the show was the pizza of the day, with bbq sauce, chicken, double smoked bacon and pickled onions. All this great good, and for a very reasonable price, and a great dining experience. I eat here every time we visit Niagara.

Friendly staff great wine lovely location. This is it one of your larger vineyards which is what we like it is definitely more intimate. They really sit with you and discuss their wines they are very knowledgeable in this tasting room. We did buy a bottle and probably could've bought 10 more. The great thing is is that you save on your tasting if you buy a bottle. It definitely makes it worth it. They also have a back local store that I highly recommend you visit. We were able to pick up local Canadian maple syrup in a large bottle for a great price. Not to mention all the other goodies that you will discover.

We happened upon this winery and I'm SO glad that we did. The tastings are 3 for $8 and the woman who guided us through our tastings was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They also offer a nice special- purchase two bottles of wine and the tasting fee will be waived. They also have a store on site behind the tasting room where they sold preserves, cheeses and many other items. We happened to be there on a Friday which is one of the days they have fresh baked bread and donuts. The aroma as you enter the store is delightful! You have to experience it yourself. Downstairs behind the glass doors there is a room where you'll find many barrels of course but the space can also be rented to host private tasting events. They also cure meats (such as prosciutto) right there in a separate area downstairs. Once again, the staff are incredibly knowledgeable! But more than that, they are friendly and accommodating which will keep you coming back here.

This vineyard is a beauty! We came here during the fall and enjoyed the food and the view of the vineyard. I had the burger which was decent, but tasted on the dry side. My friends had the short rib and the duck entree, and generously let me have a bite (or two), and both dishes were amazing! Their house wine paired really well with the dishes, unfortunately are not sold in bottles.

Absolutely love this restaurant, especially the patio. The service was great, very friendly and attentive. Food was presented beautifully and they use fresh local farm ingredients. Being outside on a nice sunny day looking onto the vineyard and enjoying a meal here is a great way to spend the weekend.

One of the nicest Sauvignon Blancs I've tasted thus far is from here... Very laid back atmosphere. Didn't do a wine tour, seemed like it would've been a little boring. Try the restaurant - best burger EVER! Who woulda thought, at a winery on the US/Canadian border!

Ravine was recommended to us by a local real estate agent as "da place". To have lunch, that is. On the first visit, we just showed up at the door but they couldn't seat us (dang!) A week later, we made a reservation a day before and showed up there at the exact time. They needed a few minutes to set up our table, so "here a free tasting coupon so why don't you go to this next building and sip some wine while we're fixing you're table?" That's a fine deal by me. The wines were good and the pour was quite generous for the tasting (compared to many other places). Dan, the wine consultant who was helping us, was friendly, knowledgeable, and spot-on with his wine suggestions. 30 minutes or so later, we finally moved to the restaurant. It was almost 2 PM and the place was only half-full. They had some sort of a melt down in the kitchen, which resulted in our food to take a very, very long time to make it to the table. The waiter was very professional at handling the situation. She apologized, kept us informed, served extra breads, and then as an apology, gave us free deserts and another coupon for wine tasting. We had a party of four people, and we were all happy with the food (that is, when it finally came out). Even the most expensive restaurants mess up here and there. The question is, how to they handle that. Ravine gets top marks in that department from me and we plan on visiting them again (those wine coupons will be very handy too).

Decent experience - overall it was good. The wine is quite good here. If you eat at the restaurant - they throw in a free tasting at the wine boutique next door Highly recommend that you book ahead of time for lunch on OpenTable - since they can fill up for lunch fast. Food is pretty good with prices being what you expect for a restaurant attached to a winery. Around $20 for mains and $10 for apps and/or desserts. There is an emphasis on local and what is in season. Seating wise is a medium to small, definitely recommend that you should sit in the back area facing the vineyard, which adds to the atmosphere.

Visited this restaurant and winery last weekend. The service is very friendly. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, We knew the restaurant was very popular, so booked the table in advance. The table was not ready when we arrived and we were offered a complementary wine testing. The wine is great! The wine sommelier Dan was very helpful and knowledgeable. The food took a little long to come out, but we had great company, so this wasn't a big issue. The food was delicious. I loved the mushroom and goat cheese tart with duck egg and butter squash soup with sower-cream was divine.

Ravine is a happening place. Serving farm to table fare, and their own wines, it is a place worth trying if you are looking for a good place to eat. It is also a fun place to visit with the vineyards and various buildings. I am sure you will find something in the country store you can't live without. The tasting room was homey, with a lively crowd enjoying the offerings. Now back to the restaurant. I especially liked the made on-site bread - crusty exterior with a chewy interior. The smoked trout with roasted cauliflower was an exceptional start to a good meal. The braised lamb shank was large, tender and flavorful. The Ling Cod must have been caught earlier that day - it was so fresh and light, with subtle delicate flavors. The rhubarb panna cotta was also good. The dining room is ...well, interesting - our waitress called it a build out. There was absolutely no insulation. With the ceiling fan blowing directly overhead, not only was it noisy inside, it was windy/drafty. When we asked to move to another table, the hostess reluctantly agreed to lower the speed on the fan, but refused to let us move to another table. The view of the vineyards was certainly better at the original table but as stated it was windy there. Interesting to note that the other table stayed vacant for the 2 hours we were at the restaurant. The restaurant is also loud with wood and glass - so loud that it was hard to hear and talk to my dinner partners.

There was plenty of parking right in front, and the views of the building and vineyard were absolutely beautiful. We were greeted warmly by the hostess when we arrived, and when we requested a table in the shade, she gladly accommodated us. The service throughout lunch was excellent. My wife has a tree nut allergy, and our waitress made sure to inform the kitchen so my wife could safely enjoy her meal without worry, which we really appreciated. We ordered two pizzas and two charcuterie boards. Unfortunately, the charcuterie boards were very overpriced for what was included: each board only had 8 thin slices of salami, 8 thin slices of capicola, a small bowl of olives, and a few small pieces of cheese. Two boards came to roughly $70 before tax, which definitely did not feel worth the price. The prosciutto and arugula pizza was also VERY dry, and surprisingly they didn't even have balsamic glaze or balsamic vinegar available for it. Another waitress brought over some olive oil, but then charged us $3 for it, which honestly didn't sit right considering we explained how dry the pizza was. The location, atmosphere, and service were wonderful, but the food quality and pricing left a lot to be desired. We usually just come here for wine, but we won't be returning.

Food 4/5 Service 3/5…read moreAmbiance 5/5 Food: I came here as a part of a work event. Our company had the whole event space booked. We had a set menu with three courses. Our first course was a green salad with currants. That was delicious actually. I really liked the currants. The next course was a choice of either chicken or squash (not many options!). I had chosen the squash but because of my food allergies they ended up giving me a mushroom dish. I love mushrooms so I didn't mind. That dish was actually quite tasty. The last course was a dessert which was a seasonal crumble with ice cream. They gave me a shaved coconut & berries dish due to my food allergies. The food was okay but my mind wasn't blown. I tried a bit of both the red wine & white wine but didn't like the taste. Then again I'm not much of wine drinker. Service: Some of the servers looked like the would rather be anywhere else than at the event. My server was great though, he was very attentive to me because of my food allergies. However, one of the servers dropped a carafe of boiling hot coffee on the ground. It hit me a bit, the guy next to me got some in his eye & another guy across from us was also hit. I was not happy about that. The server was really apologetic & went to get some ice. Took her forever but she finally found some & gave it to the people who were affected. I smelled like coffee after that. Ambiance: The vineyard is really lovely. We got there just before the sun started setting & it made for some amazing views. The dining hall is nice as well with it's high ceilings & floor to ceiling windows. The group washrooms were clean & pretty also. I'm not sure if I would come here again on my own. My impression of the food & service is tainted by the coffee being spilled on us. They were really apologetic & everything but sometimes first impressions are everything. I'm not often in the Niagara on the Lake area & if I were I wouldn't make a special trip to come here given my past experience here.

The Riesling was not bad but unexpressive... At the very end we got to tried the 2020 Chateau des Charmes EQUULEUS which I like, it's more of a dry and complex wine but not an easy drink so it might not be for everyone. Amazing Taste, Amazing People!…read more After stopping at seven of Niagara's vineyards, all I can say to you is make sure FIVE ROWS one of those stops. Its great for red and white wine lovers. Throughout these visits, we would be asking the owners and employees if there were any other wineries they'd recommend. Guess which name kept popping up? 'Five Rows'. Sooo, finishing up what would be our 9th flight of samples, we headed out to see what all the buzz was about. Finding the place turned out to be a bit tricky, but it's well worth the few odd twists and turns. We soon pulled up to a quaint little barn, and quickly made our way inside. The inside was nicely furnished, giving an easy family/homey feel. After entering, one of the owners (Wilma) invited us over to sit with her. Wilma began sharing story after story, all deliciously peppered with humour. You couldn't help but feel right at home. However I must confess, for the first five minutes I couldn't take my eyes off the gigantic cheese block sitting at the centre of the table. Finally I broke, and filled a rainforest cracker (aka the best crackers ever) with smoked parmesan cheese... AMAZING! Besides that... Hanging with Wilma and sampling wines was like hanging with your mom at the dinner table after Thanksgiving; the wine, conversation, and good times just keeps on flowing. To close, this winery has a real passion for making delicious wine, I hope you get a chance to experience it. Recommendation; Five Rows has created a breathtaking 2007 Pinot Noir. Not a great experience with their service and mediocre food. We arrived at 7:30pm for our reservation on a Tuesday evening and were seated right away. There's a 3 course for $80, or 2 course for $75. We ordered two 2 courses and two 3 courses between our table of 4, and one lager. Appetizers came at 8:20pm. The waiter told us right before the appetizers were served that there was a group of 20ppl right ahead of us, hence the slow service. The main hall was full of the 20ppl group, but our dining section had 3 tables, including ours - so it doesn't seem that busy as it was mostly empty. He did not check in with us during this 50min wait time between sitting down and appies arriving, nor did he bring the lager, or give us a heads up about the wait any earlier. Not off to a great start. APPETIZER: Pate shortbread cookie: I quite liked this one, the sweet buttery shortbread crunch, with a salty creamy pate filling and a dab of jam on top. There's prosciutto and greens on the side. This dish was the definition of sweet and savoury. My friend got the cold soup and loved it. MAIN: Arrancini: mix of mushrooms and veggies, rice, deep fried in a ball shape. THIS WAS HORRIBLE. There wasn't much flavour to the arancini themselves, nor in the sauce. There was some sort of marinated mushroom, and that was good but the Arancini was so stale, similar to how a food court pre-deep fries their items and leaves it in a hot tray. They were not crispy at all, and had a hard chewy exterior. -I asked the waiter if the arancini was supposed to be crispy, he said yes, they are deep fried so it's supposed to be crispy. -I said it tastes quite hard and chewy instead, not crispy. -He said something along the lines of "Is there something you'd like me to do about it?" -I was very disappointed but didn't want to cause a scene so I said no. I couldn't finish it. Overall, super underwhelming restaurant for the price point. (P.S. the winery part is great though, I'd recommend the tasting and grab a few bottles, but I do NOT recommend the restaurant)
