We chose the tile and the principal designer, Erin Sharp, designed a fireplace around these. See photo with green tile. My sister in law had a fireplace window crack. She called, and Erin had a technician there the next day to fix a flaw and replace the window. The fault was with the manufacturer, not the installation. So I recommend this shop highly for design, installation, and service.

However, when I turned the fireplace/pilot off and turned off the propane line the problems began. When I turned the propane line back on and attempted to light the pilot it did not work. I called the company and reported the issue. Dan responded that pressing the "flint" button 3 times rapidly should cause the pilot light to work . I did as Dan requested but the pilot did not light. The final solution Dan offered was to lift the window on the front of the unit and light the pilot using a firestick. This worked but I am very dissatisfied with the need to always lift the glass and use a firestick to light the pilot. I suspect that during the cleaning process the lighter mechanism that is the standard way the fireplace manufacturer expects to light the pilot was misaligned with the burner. Dan never offered to come out and review the issue on-site.

They came and delivered and partially installed the 2-units. Upon asking several times why the installation wasn't completed, we were told that the final payment is due NOW and they will return later to do the startup (as they call it). No where did I sign a contract stating these terms and there is no reason why they should be paid in full if the installation is not completed. Dan, the owner, was very unprofessional and very difficult to deal with throughout the process. I would not recommend this company.

MFHH serviced that unit then and we paid the bill in full, but upon using it again in the autumn, the fireplace did the same, scary thing. We called for service on both units, repair and preventative, 10/01, which was scheduled for 11/01. MFHH called to confirm service to both units which was affirmed. Though the tech identified a broken part, he advised that would not repair the malfunctioning unit, nor did he service the other fireplace. Replacement of the part was scheduled for 11/20 which he did. We paid the bill in full but complained the fireplace was still malfunctioning. After the owner came back to town, MFHH attempted to schedule warranty work for 12/27, which we determined to be unreasonable, resolved to find someone else, and asked for refund of half the trip charge, upon which the owner, Dan Massignon, fabricated unacceptable behavior on our part, ludicrous since our behavior was no barrier to scheduling and servicing the gas fireplaces in our home this time, or half a dozen times prior, and only materialized after we realized MFHH was either incapable or unwilling to actually fix the malfunctioning fireplace, fulfill the service request by omitting one fireplace, and by unreasonably delaying warranty service. Unless you like spending money for being defamed, DO NOT USE Minocqua Fireside Hearth and Home!

At the urging of our well expert, we started watching for leaks and drips that might be adversely affecting our well's supply. Sure enough, the ancient front spigot was losing a fair bit of water daily (in the dry conditions, it was hard to notice until we got a pail under the spigot). One call is all that it took for Dan to make his way over to look into the problem. I had hoped it was just a matter of a gasket, but the age of the spigot put the easy fix out of reach. Dan assessed all of the spigots and recommended shut-off vales for all of them, which brought me great relief. Now we are in control of the water situation and will (hopefully!) eliminate future surprises. Based on our discussion, I felt very well-informed to make the decision and I'm super pleased with his work. While he was in the basement with us, he mentioned the fact that we're still using fuel oil. While not ideal, we simply hadn't started moving that project ahead. Yet. Insert Dan, who talked to Andy, and just two days later Andy was here to similarly educate us on a propane conversion. Talk about full service! Just one phone call and I'm crossing things off my list of house projects; badda-bing! Suddenly the weight is off my shoulders, our list of house ToDos seems so much more manageable and I feel like we are in good hands. Thank you to the J-Goods team for making us newcomers feel like VIPs!
