Mr Burkett fixed my drum table to perfection. It was my grandmothers and it had great sentimental value. I am thrilled with Raymond Burketts work. His price was very fair in my opinion. He picked the table up and returned it. For those of you who do not know what a drum table is, the center of the table goes around. Mine was badly broken causing the top to be very tilted. I told Mr Burkett, if he could not fix the table to turn and just have the top be connected to the part that turns, I would have him do the job. He came over and looked at it and said he was pretty confident he could fix it. One of the rails on my large wooden daybed from India randomly broke a few years after I bought it. I live in an apartment building with no parking, which makes it difficult to schedule work and carry furniture in and out. Mr. Burkett was the only furniture restorer I found in DC who was willing to pick up just the part that needed fixing without an in-home survey. He repaired it in a timely manner and for a reasonable price. He was able to tell me some interesting details about its authenticity (thus now referred to as a replica) and he made a small alteration to the bracing to prevent the desk from collapsing in the future, without changing the look. Mr. Burkett did a great job on an heirloom music box table that needed restoration. The varnish was very dirty and cracked, plus the legs were a bit wobbly. He was able to determine that if the varnish were removed some of the paint details would also disappear, so he cleaned it and stabilized the legs and some interior wood pieces. Not only did he examine my chair in diagnosing the quality of the cherry wood, but he fixed and reinforced my chair so that it should have another 24 years of life, if not more. Mr Burkett cautioned me of the challenges to replicate an exact match given the complex process employed by the manufacturer for staining the cane and wood, plus time and aging.
