I highly recommend Sergio Luis for any floor work you might need! A couple of weeks ago, my tenant (who lives in my single condo unit in Washington, DC--I live in Los Angeles now), contacted me to say that the wood floors in the foyer near the utility closet had "raised up." I don't know any flooring folks so I went to Yelp and posted my need for a flooring expert to go out to the apartment and assess the situation. Sergio Luis from Artistic Hardwood Floors responded in a timely fashion. I noted they had great reviews--which is the first thing I look for--and he went out to the property later that day. As suspected, the raised floors were due to an HVAC leak in the utility closet. Long/short, Sergio's crew took out the floor and subfloors on Thursday, 7/3 and finished the work today, 7/7 (the concrete underneath needed time to dry plus it was the holiday weekend). The picture he sent of the finished product looked good. I don't know how much it costs to replace hardwood floors and blend them with the existing floors, but the price seemed fair to me. He also connected me with his long-time colleague, a plumber and HVAC technician to work on that piece, so it felt like a full-service situation going on, which was really helpful. Apparently plumbers and HVAC experts have a symbiotic relationship, which makes sense--Sergio had already surmised, even with the floors being dry and before he went to my condo, that it was an HVAC leak responsible for the raised floors. What I appreciated the most about Sergio was his communication (prompt and courteous), his thoroughness in explaining the situation and the work that needed to be done, and just his help overall since I live 3,000 miles away. He was very kind and helpful. And, they are professional experts at what they do. I am definitely keeping his information in my phone moving forward! read more

I've had the most AMAZING experience with Artistic Hardwood! They are the ultimate artisans and everything they do (and they offer a LOT of services) is done with excellence and careful attention to detail. I started off having them repair several floor boards in the living room of my 102-year-old home (old termite damage) and the repaired boards were indistinguishable from the existing floor. Turns out they "harvest" older wood from other remodeling demos they do - so they're using 90+ year old wood to make repairs, so it blends perfectly. I was so pleased with that outcome that they've since: refinished the upstairs staircase (that was so caked with decades of wax and dirt that it looked painted with no woodgrain showing), replaced a deteriorating tile step to a sunken den and matched the wood to the adjacent floor, removed unused HVAC registers and grates and seamlessly patched the drywall and painted, refinished several over-painted (and badly painted) door frames and walls, ripped out and rebuilt a basement stair correcting wacky inconsistent step heights, rebuilt a deck stair, added insulation in several areas/repaired drywall and painted, installed wood shelves with stemware hangers, painted kitchen backsplash tile; framed in a new in-wall room heater, and sealed openings to the outside from the basement utility room. They even found an electrician for me for an outage emergency unrelated to their work! Artistic Hardwood can do it all; they respect your home and always do their best to realize your vision. Sergio from Artistic Hardwood Floors is by far the most professional vendor I have worked with in a long time! I am working on an attic office project and had a company install white oak hardwood floors. They did an okay job but did not sand and stained the wrong color. I must have called 40 hardwood floor companies and no one was interested in the project because it was small and in the attic so no one wanted to lift the sander up a ladder. Sergio was the only one that would help me out. He is so meticulous and spent so much time perfecting everything. When he was completely done, he found a few spots that he didn't like so he resanded and sealed that entire section of the floor. He even came on Sunday to wrap things up. I really really can't say enough about him as a person and an artist. He didn't have any reviews when I found him on Yelp which is why I feel inclined to give him a great review. read more
