Had this company scope out to remove old flooring and add new wood and bamboo floors. All was welldone workmanship from the installation, staining, and working around varying floor levels and stairnose change orders. They seem to do all interior services but specialize in wood floors and I feel I got a well priced deal with an applicable scope and pricing for the deal even with the change orders mentioned. I had a really awesome experience with DB Genesis Hardwood Flooring. Really quick response to my Yelp search for installers. Kevin provided the estimate from the car right after leaving my home and answered all of my questions. The quote was pretty competitive for labor only (my request). Not the cheapest one quote received, but really competitive. The team arrived between 8:30-8:45am daily. They moved the furniture as needed. Responded well to a couple of hiccups as well. Kevin remained a contact throughout and was always responsive. Cannot say enough about the team and the work. Danny, Roger, and team were really nice to work with and wanted to ensure my complete satisfaction. My home suffered damaged due to plumbing mistake. This resulted in my main level flooring requiring replacement. Dony and his team were so great to work with! We got 3 quotes from contractors in the area, and while Dony's quote was in the middle, he was the most thorough in his quote. During his walkthrough, he looked at every single thing, gave us recommendations on how to handle certain things (ex- wiring work, when to use LVP vs hardwood, etc). We felt confident that his quote would be exactly what we would pay since he covered everything. His team did a great job. They installed LVP on floors, custom hardwood on steps, and gym flooring. They also do a lot of other things besides just flooring like painting, removal of cabinets, and electrical work. They finished the work within a week which was great and faster than we expected! You get real experts coming out to take estimates and work on your floors, not temp workers. Up-sell, Up-sell, Up-sell. It's been a while since they came by but just getting to finishing this review because it's worth warning people. Back in November, we had them come by to get a quote to refinish the original floors on our 120 year old rowhouse. This company is one those that sends a sales person to give you a quote. Not an actual floor expert who has knowledge in the trade. Our sales person spent the better time of the 45 minute visit lecturing us (he ACTUALLY used the words "lecture" if you can believe it) about the fact that our floors were not worth refinishing. Lecturing. I don't know about you but I don't think that's the best selling strategy. He literally said to us, a prospective customer "I mean, what are you guys doing?". That's another direct quote. He also mentioned his commission. Yes, his commission. Over and over and over again he told us we needed new floors. He even compared himself to a doctor (LOL) and said "like a doctor, sometimes I have to deliver bad news". This guy was full of quotes. We had other professionals with ACTUAL experience restoring old floors stop by to give us quotes and somehow no one gave us the opinion of this floor "doctor". They seem to do okay with new floors but go somewhere else if you have old floors that need restoring and look for people who actually know how to work with old wood and are not trying to up-sell you. Also had minor staining, and thinset stuck to the hardwood where there was tile over top. I called Dony and his team came out the next week. They finished ~800sq ft in 3 days, and I am happy with their work. My refinished red oak floors are beautiful despite being a 60 year old house. I inquired with several flooring companies and have no doubt DB Genesis provided the best quality, and surprisingly, for the most competitive price. Susie K. In April 2014, they removed my old carpet/padding and sanded and stained the wood floor beneath in my parents Gaithersburg condo. As I do not live in the area, Donny maintained excellent communication with me by phone and text, prior to the work starting and after the work was done. My husband and I are very pleased with DB Genesis' work. We've worked with a handful of different contractors so far and their communication is BY FAR the best, which is not to be underestimated. The expertise of DB Genesis is hard to deny, plus they do their absolute best to stay on schedule. We ultimately needed the entire subfloor in our dining and kitchen replaced, and to make up for the extra job, they sent a crew of six to make headway. They finished within the time they said they would and the end result was top notch. We also needed a different section of our flooring installed underneath our fridge (mentioned below) once the job was done, and we needed a section refinished because we terribly moved a cabinet that scratched the floors. DB Genesis was responsive and made time in a packed schedule to help us out. Just two very light pieces of warning: (1) Our floors were raised a bit because we had new subfloor. This caused our fridge to not be able to clear the ceiling of our built-in. We asked if we could leave just the subfloor where the fridge sits, and not install wood to make up for the discrepancy. We were told that would be okay; however, our fridge tech said in order to ever have the fridge serviced, we would need to pull out planks of the hardwood to get it out, so he strongly advised against it. Thankfully our fridge needed some work so we had a fridge tech ready to give us advice, but that could have been a major issue down the road if we didn't get the wood installed underneath the fridge. (2) We were told our old floors needed to be refinished to match the new floors. We were under the impression this would be the case once the job was done, but the floors are noticeable different colors. In a year or two, it won't be noticeable, but we were just surprised. Let me stress that could have *easily* been a misunderstanding on our part, but just a heads-up to set expectations if that matters to anyone reading this. At the end of the day: no harm, no foul. It's hard not to do a job like this without any issues and the crew did a great job all around. Ultimately, you can tell what a high-quality job was done and that this company goes above and beyond. We absolutely love our floors and would absolutely work with DB Genesis again. read more

Absolutely fantastic attention to detail and attentive customer service all the way from sales (Jay) to demo and install (Osmin and Luis) and follow-up (Donny B.) and the result is a gorgeous top-of-the-line 9" wide plank flooring that was meticulously installed thanks to these guys! I received amazing service from initial contact to completion of my floors. The receptionist was extremely kind and patient. First time out the gate, as you can imagine, I had tons of questions for EVERYONE. She answered my questions spot on. (I believe her name was Vilma) I requested a quote. The owner came out to the property. He arrived literally the time he promised (no one enjoys playing the waiting game) He assessed everything and provided a quote fairly quickly. I called and spoke with him about the quote and he went above and beyond my expectations describing the process and what to expect. He was so knowledgeable about floors and was honest about the products which helped me to make a decision about the kind of floors to choose. In my opinion he was genuine and really fair. He was responsive to emails and he even helped us cut a corner or two (in a good way) and save money! The installation: The crew, Jose and Christian arrived literally on time! They literally installed per my watch in 5 hours. I thought it would take two days as quoted but they did it all in no time. I made an appointment. The day of the appointment certain things arose in my schedule that had to be shuffled around in order for me to be home for my appointment. Here I am, for my appointment, waiting and waiting and no one comes. I call to see why. I'm told that they called me (no evidence of this) and that they left me a voicemail (no evidence of this) and they left me a message on Yelp to confirm my appointment. We had an estimator come out and check out our property and he was so incredibly helpful and thorough. We never felt rushed out pressures and he answered all of our inane questions! We decided pretty quickly to use them and scheduled our day. Apparently, there was a bit of a mix-up because they showed up a day earlier than I'd marked on my calendar. The team was really nice and even tried to help me clear out the room where they were going to be working. It took the better part of the day but they were just really fantastic. I really can't say enough about how great this company was to work with. I met with Donny the owner who came over to do the original quote. The first thing that blew me away about him was that he was on time!! During our meeting, I asked questions about his company and I liked his direct honest answers. My floors were in deplorable condition and he said "These are 110 year old floors, without completely replacing the floors, we are going to make you happy, but there will still be some flaws we can't get out." I had a previous estimate who wanted to rip out the floors, so his honesty about not being a miracle worker was refreshing. He told me what to pack away, and said his team would handle the rest. We needed to be out of the house for three days while the floors were done. I handed over the keys and the deposit and hoped for the best. What was delivered was AMAZING!! Are there still some flaws in my 110 year old floors which have seen 110 years of use and abuse? Yup, but today when Donny was here to pick up the balance due and drop the keys off HE had to point them out to me! I actually didn't see the areas he showed me, all I saw was an amazing restoration and a surprisingly CLEAN house! Yes, there is some dust, but I had used another company on my old house and I swear I found dust for years. They did a very good job of cleaning up probably 95% of the dust. Lastly, and this was a HUGE concern of mine living in a condominium, my neighbor next door said "They were very respectful of the work hours, and didn't disturb us at all" I highly suggest this company if you are looking to refinish or install flooring. read more

I began looking for hardwood flooring contractor after my dishwasher leaked and damaged the hardwood in my kitchen. Since the continuous wood floors on my 1st floor needed to be refinished I figured now was a good time to go with a darker color and remove the carpet upstairs and replace it with hardwood. Initially I had about 5 hardwood flooring contractors come out to give me an estimate. Because the estimates were structured so differently they were hard to compare. I ended having to call each one back to ask about certain thing was included in one estimate but not the other. After making all these contacts I was dissatisfied that none of the contractors included all the thing I wanted done. I decided to start over and interview 5 more contractors and request estimates RFP (request for proposal) style. I listed all of the things I wanted done and the corresponding square footage. I also had a questionnaire that included questions like: Are you a member of the NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association)? How will you address my wood hand rails on my staircase? Do you recommend water or oil base stain? What is the cost difference between water and oil base stain? When can you begin working on this project? How long will it take you to complete this project? How long does my family need to be out of the house? Will you move my furniture and belongings out? If so, what is the costs? Of the 5 contractors that I interviewed only DB Genesis answered every detail of my RFP and sent me an estimate within a couple of days. What set DB Genesis Hardwood Flooring LLC apart from the others contractors is: * DB Genesis sanded the handrails on my staircase by hand and stained them beautifully. My handrails are kind of ornate and have some intricate detail. None of the other contractors were willing to sand and stain the hand rails on my staircase. One contractor suggested that a buy new unfinished hand rails while another recommended that I paint the hand rails. * DB Genesis gave me option of moving my furniture at reasonable cost. Other contractors were unwilling to move my furniture and belongings. The first few days of construction they sent over 10 guys to get the project off to a good start. The owner, Donnie, is good guy and he told me that only hires good guys that he's known for a long time which made me a lot more comfortable leaving town while the project was underway. It has been my experience that most contractors try to hurry up and get done at the end of project and don't pay attention to detail, but that is not the case with DB Genesis. Donnie went the extra mile in helping me find a toe kick for my kitchen cabinets that matched up perfectly although it wasn't even in the contract.
