He was very harsh when I brought up concern about my baby. He lacked empathy and was quite mean about it. He also took a paper towel and put it over my vagina to draw a picture in order to answer my question. He's no longer working at Weill Cornell. Thank God they got rid of him. As someone who also has an appointment and client based business, I can't state enough how important it is to make the person in front of you feel important and in my field, people that act like Wong are those that have grown complacent and don't really value the person in front of them (not a wise practice no matter what level you are...) Picked up and answered his phone two times in the middle of my wife's at risk pregnancy conversation and was visibly bothered by her emotional reaction. She left feeling like an inconvenient number. Yesterday at my wife's request, got on a phone call with me to deliver bad news regarding our pregnancy with "Hi Ok, so Baby A is dead", after 30 more seconds of phoning it in I decided there was enough insult layered on injury and asked him to put my wife back on. This doctor was awful. I honestly feel so duped by the perfect yelp score. In general perfect yelp scores are suspicious. The only positive experience was the minimal wait time (however the waiting area left a lot to be desired). I was rushed to make an appointment as I have been having sharp pains in my breast and wanted to ensure this wasn't anything more serious than gas. The doctor informed me that "he doesn't really know breasts as none of his patients have implants." The doctor was extremely rushed, condescending and casually mentioned "Oh, you have fibroids." I did not disclose such on any paperwork and its not the type of diagnosis you just toss out there. I have since made an appointment to see someone else. I will not be returning. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Wong for several years and he really is one of a kind. Some doctors can be condescending, and I get that. I hate it, but I get it. They spent a crazy amount of time in med school and doing a residency, and they get patients coming in with self-diagnoses from the Internet and their second cousin, who works in a laundromat and isn't a doctor, but had the exact same symptoms they had. That's got to be annoying. Dr. Wong isn't like that, though. The man has endless patience. He's always been willing to fit me in for a last minute appointment, and I do appreciate that he returns phone calls personally. Thankfully, I'm without many complaints/issues in the area of Dr. Wong's specialty, so my appointments with him aren't long ordeals, yet you don't get a wham-bam-thank you ma'am feeling from him. He's been patient and caring when I've not been feeling well or have been worried about something, so I've no doubt that if I were in a situation where I needed extra attention, I know he'd provide that. He gets extra credit for liking the Cowboy Junkies and Tift Merritt. However, I can't give the full five because NYU Downtown Hospital and the reception desk at his practice are the hottest of hot messes. Placing a call with them to make an appointment or leave the doctor a message is an exercise in tolerance and self-restraint. While I know Dr. Wong doesn't really have control over this, it is part of making an appointment with him, so consider yourself warned. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE DR RAYMOND WONG!!! Top of the bunch! I have been a patient of his since about 05' Dr. Wong was the first GYN to define and treat my cervical dysplasia. Saw him for the first time today- I think I'm in love. Doc Wong is the friendliest, most considerate gyno I've ever had! (I move around a lot) And he GETS it. He personally makes calls to report test results (not the nurse, not the PA) and he called me 3x to find me-- each time the message said, don't worry about calling back, I'll try again later. I know it's silly, but those small things really, really count. He explains everything ("even at the risk of you Googling it") and there's never any awkwardness.. I went to Dr. Wong based on the stellar reviews here. He gave me bad news (that part obviously isn't his fault) - then asked me to step INTO THE HALLWAY to discuss it. I stood there crying, listening to the list of terrible options in full public view, while his staff changed over the exam room and ushered another woman into it. When I walked past the exam room again on my way out, he was holding a consultation with his next appointment. In the hallway. This apparently is standard practice. Even under the best of circumstances, this kind of treatment isn't OK. In fact, I'm pretty sure it violates federal privacy law. I know for damn sure it violates a laundry list of moral and ethical norms, and it made an already traumatic experience far worse. I often say besides with her significant other, a woman has two most important relationships in her life: her hairdresser and her gynecologist. There needs to be a trust level that is unparalleled with either -- you can go in and ask any questions, not be thought the fool, and well a woman presents herself with her hair, and her "lady parts" are what keep her operational! I met Dr Wong in 2008 as a result of an emergency. I wasn't due for my annual at my previous OBGYN for another few weeks, yet they couldn't squeeze me in for a month. I was like - my vagina is about to fall off, hello! I wasn't beholden to my old OBGYN office. The staff were kind of rude douchebags. (erm, no pun intended) Anyway I found Dr. Wong through my insurance company, when I called and said I needed something checked out and though I wasn't due for my annual, I could use another prescription. They took me in almost right away. Big difference from being an existing patient at another office! Short story long, I was immediately comfortable with Dr. Wong. He's got a great bedside manner. Turns out what I was going through was a false alarm. I knew it couldn't be bad, but you know what, when ladies "know" something is up, you get that checked out! He never made me feel uncomfortable or stupid -- I was able to talk to him about other concerns I had (something my old OBGYN was not good at -- he was one of those gyno-factory types that I basically sat down with for 15 minutes every year...after waiting for like 2 hours in their office). I knew IMMEDIATELY that if I were to have children, I need my annual visit, I have concerns about my reproductive system, Dr. Wong rocks, period. Um, again, no pun intended. I am very upset at the lack of professional courtesy shown by Dr.Wong towards me. I left Staten Island an hour and 45 minutes leeway before appointment. Due to road closures which created extraordinary heavy traffic even through the Holland Tunnel. I even had an arranged prepaid parking garage space scheduled for 45 minutes before my appointment. I arrived 18 minutes late. I was told that I could not see Dr Wong.When asked for a later appointment time in this day. Hhe refused to see me! I've been with Dr. Wong for about 5 years. I just can't say enough awesome things about him and that office. What finally prompted me to write the review is: He called my office to discuss test results. I was away at conferences and not really able to speak. My co-worker relayed that info, and gave him the date I was returning. He called me THE DAY I CAME BACK. Amazing. The very fact that this was noted and remembered is priceless. I've never had a more attentive, friendlier physician. He hand-writes notes to explain things. He manages to make jokes - funny ones - and that's not easy, given the ... "circumstances" of these visits. And, I never have to wait more than 10 minutes. Usually I can count on being in and out within a half hour, but feel like I got all the attention I deserve and all the info I need. To the gal who complained about him not knowing about implants, he's an OBGYN, not a plastic surgeon. This guy's perfect score is well deserved. read more

Dr. Wong is, hands down, the best OBGYN doctor I've been to. He never makes you feel rushed during an appointment, he's kind and helpful when answering questions, and he's incredibly knowledgeable in his field. He's non-judgmental and respectful, which is comforting when dealing with the ups and downs of pregnancy. He delivered my first daughter when we were still living in the city and I couldn't imagine having anyone else deliver my second child even though we had moved to Westchester, so I commuted to the city for my appointments and delivery just to keep him as my doctor. Dr. Wong himself is a good doctor, but his medical staff however is the reason I choose to go somewhere else. It took over 2 months to make copies of my medical records, plus they charge you .75 per page! They are IMPOSSIBLE to reach, I had to leave message after message. Apparently you're actually calling Florida first, and then they patch you in? But it never goes through? **Also to be noted, he had a "wait and see" approach to my situation. Airing on the side of caution is ok but when I switched to another doctor it was determined that I need surgery. Which was always an option with Wong but a road he didnt want to go down. If Dr. Wong moved to another practice I might of stayed with him. But the hospital staff made everything so difficult that it wasnt worth it. He's helpful and thoughtful but if you know something is wrong with your body then listen to it instead of delaying. read more

Dr. Wong's office location has changed since my last review and they were taken over by another hospital but the new set up is very nice and I like that I can get results online. After months of half-heartedly looking for a new gynecologist, I finally found Dr. Wong through Yelp and I'm glad I did. Dr. Wong is extremely knowledgeable, warm, and attentive. He takes time to address my concerns and explains everything thoroughly, even with a touch of humor. I don't normally write reviews for my doctors, mostly because they fall somewhere in the middle. However, I'll make an exception for Raymond Wong...because he is an exceptional doctor. The major thing that sets Dr. Wong apart is that he listens. Like, real listening -- indicated by appropriate answers/followup questions. He's always so knowledgeable about current research but also realistic. He doesn't jump to medical intervention as the answer to everything. I always leave my appointments feeling calm, with all of my questions answered. He never makes me feel like I'm being talked down to or scolded. I'm extremely confident in his ability as a doctor. The office environment isn't anything fancy, but it runs smoothly. He's always seen me on time (I usually make morning appts.) His front desk staff is cordial and the phone operators who do scheduling have always been really great (they'll search for availability and wait for you to fumble through your phone's calendar ;) Dr. Wong's assistants are fabulous and make you feel comfortable from the weight/blood pressure in the very beginning of each appointment. I had to take a moment to write a review for Dr. Raymond Wong after he recently delivered our second healthy baby (first son is 15 months old and our second son is a few days old). I should say that I never write reviews but have been so overwhelmed with his professionalism and genuine care that I don't think any doctor out there deserves a review more than him. He has a tremendous amount of experience, which is important in the obstetrics field as nothing replaces hands-on experience. However, he has not become jaded and is still passionate about what he does, and he makes you feel as though you and your baby are of top concern rather than one family on a list of families he is responsible for. His heart is truly in his work, and it is evidenced by his innate integrity and pride in delivering babies. One small example of that: I had 2 cesarean sections, and he took such great care stitching me back up that even my dermatologist was astonished how well my scar looked with my first son. The scar is the least important thing to me; the health of the baby is the most important thing but it was so wonderful to find someone who cares so much about every step of process. The maternity ward of the hospital itself, New York Presbyterian Downtown, leaves a lot to be desired. When my first son was delivered in 2015, we had a much different experience with nurses who were saints and teachers at the same time. They were incredibly loving, mentoring, and attentive. This time around, the staff seems very overwhelmed and it is hard to get help sometimes. Also, I should note that my husband and I are tough critics; that being said, the facilities themselves leave a lot to be desired. However, in my opinion, the most important thing about picking in OB doctor is the doctor himself. The most and only truly important part of the whole pregnancy, delivery and recovery process is safely bringing a new baby into the world (if you are looking for a lavish hospital, this is not the place for you, but in my view: this is not meant to be a vacation. Getting the baby safely into the world is the important thing). Because of that, I would only ever consider Dr. Wong to deliver my babies and I am entirely grateful that we had the good fortune of falling into his care. read more

Dr. Wong delivered my beautiful baby girl at 36 weeks when my wife's water prematurely broke. Very professional, Always kept us informed of what was going on during the delivery. Normal Delivery but a little hairy at times due to the babies heart rate decelerating during contractions. Dr, Wong stayed cool. Had OR ready .. Everything went OK. Dr. Wong is gentle and patient and he listens and explains things very well. He clearly has a vast workload and has a tendency to run between exam rooms but when he's there he is really present and attentive. I see him at NY Downtown which is also a great place. Dr. Wong is the best there is.I've been seeing him since 2002. He delivered my last two of three kids. I wish I knew him for my oldest child. He was the one who discovered that I had the CF gene and was worried for my baby, had my husbnad tested to see if he had it too. Thank God he didn't. He will make your delivery as easy as possible. He is THE BEST OB/GYN in town. I don't know why he would get low ratings from others. They probably saw a different Dr. Wong as there is another Dr. Wong in the department. I would give Dr. R Wong 6 starts if Yelp allows. I was a patient of him from 2007-2011. Both of my children were born under his care . He was always pleasant and professional. I had a couple miscarriages before and in between my pregnancies. He was loving and caring. I had a fear of miscarriage during the first trimester of both of my pregnancies. Dr. Wong was always there to support me. His surgical skill was awesome. He also did an awesome job on my son's circumcision. His office has moved to a new location on 156 William Street in 2011 and the location is equipped with electronic medical records for more efficient record keeping. If you are in the area and need a good OB/GYN, Dr. Raymond Wong is definitely THE doctor to choose. read more

Dr. Raymond Wong is the best OBGYN I have ever encountered. I found his contact by reading the other Yelp reviews and thought, how can anyone have almost all outstanding feedback? After I met with him the first time, and everytime since then, I realized it's because he really is awesome. He's super nice, very patient, answers all your questions realistically and in depth, and is very knowledgeable. He has a rotating staff of nurses to assist with checking blood pressure, weight, and urine tests/drawing blood (if applicable), but they have all been friendly. The office is also nice and clean, and newly remodeled. Lastly, I have only waited past my appointment time once out of the 10 times I have been, which is very impressive. I saw Dr. Wong 7 years ago and later switched to another GYN Doctor closer to home. I recently started seeing him again and he is still the ultimate professional! He is personable and pleasant. He does not rush you, explains necessary tests to be done and addresses all your questions and concerns.
