We've used this company before for a dishwasher repair. They charged $165 for a service visit, during which the technician (who was very kind and professional) told me the filters needed cleaning and that the dishwasher should then work properly. Unfortunately, it still hasn't worked well since--but I assumed it might just be the appliance itself. Recently, I called the same company to look at my washing machine. I explained that the lid lock was broken, but I was never told how much the repair would cost--only that they could come out on Monday. The same technician arrived and completed the repair in about 40 minutes. Only afterward was I told the total would be $444. Since the part was already installed and the machine was working, I asked to speak with the office about the pricing. I wasn't provided with a breakdown or any prior estimate, and my only options were to pay the $444 or have the part removed and still owe $165 for the diagnostic fee--leaving me with a broken washer. My in-laws have used this company for years and always spoke highly of them, though we all agree their pricing is on the higher side. It's disappointing that there wasn't more transparency or flexibility, especially since I could have purchased a new washing machine for about the same price. Do not use this company. To begin, it is very small and consists of only 3 people. Kevin, the only mechanic, is amiable but of questionable ability. The owner is extremely rude and nasty on the telephone. Kathy who answers most calls is pleasant and friendly. However, the return phone calls that she promised rarely occurred. In short, Raynor was not able to repair my washer despite numerous visits and refused to reimburse me for a part that was not installed. Not to mention all my time wasted waiting for the mechanic to show up. The initial diagnosis was a faulty Control Board which I paid for on the second visit. However, the washer still did not agitate or drain properly. On the 4th visit the mechanic made the machine work, declared it finally fixed and quickly left. When I went to use it, the machine failed as usual. Subsequently the mechanic declared that the New Control Board was probably at fault and replaced it with the original. In the end after about 7 repair visits, the washer was the same as at the start--with the original Control Board and not working correctly. The mechanic on his last visit and declared that the washer must be "haunted" and that he had no idea how to fix it. He said that since I had not received a new Control Board that I would reimbursed for the part and its installation. Despite great patience and repeated telephone calls, Raynor has not reimbursed me as promised. If you decide to use this company, you have been warned. read more

They are the worst company that I've ever dealt with that I personally believe they are just a phone service business. This is my second time dealing with them but I called 3 different numbers and they all were answered by this service who claim to be a appliance repair. They came the first time charged me for a tech who seemed like he was a kid who may have been related he took pictures and knew nothing.that then was passed to this so called company and I waited 2 weeks for them to get back and told me the part was on back order . They charged me $165 to come and that was the extent of the deal. They wanted $800 for a part on my stove so my neighbor offered to fix it and charged me $50. Now on this next story is even better. I called to cancel an appointment, as I no longer needed the service. I was talking to a very nice woman , Cathy, earlier in the day who was friendly and courteous. When I called back to cancel, the rudest man answered. He was clearly on another call but I could hear him. I called back to ensure they got the message so as not to waste their time. He answered a second time and responded "Yeah , I heard you ".. I had no confirmation that he heard me. He then shouted " Well if you would just stop talking ....I heard you three times ". sorry i did not read reviews before calling! One star because they came quickly. To avoid a service call they could have asked what the error code was and saved me the $125 service call. All the tech did is look at the code and said it means that there is a problem with either the MCU or the CCU. He said his boss hates that code because he has to order both parts and figure out which one it is. The tech said the company would call the next day with a price. They did and said it would be over $600 to repair. neither part is near that cost nor is it difficult to replace. He and his helper came, they looked at my fridge and told me it needed a part. It took probably all of 2 minutes. The owner of this company is an embarrassment to his business and his employees. He's one of those 'know it all' condescending a-holes that apparently thinks he's God's gift to appliance repair.... Case and Point: I have a rental property in the Hamptons and the dryer broke. Trying to get it repaired ASAP for my elderly tenant, I call American Service (631) 287-7887 as they were highly recommended - no appointment avail for a week. I call 3 other companies, 1 being Raynor whom didn't have an appointment for 2 days and another Blue Vision Appliance (631) 496-4184 with great yelp reviews who said he can see me the next day. Next morning 8am I get a call from some guy who asks if I need my dryer fixed. I ask who he is and he tells me he's from Raynor appliance in which I tell him I have an appointment for a little later that day already with another Co and his appointment wasn't until the next day. (Not knowing if the first appointment will work out, I kept the others until my dryer gets fixed - this just seemed logical to me). The guy begins cursing me out using the F-bomb and all for not canceling his appointment. Trying to understand, I reiterate my appointment was not until the next day, he curses some more, wishes I get ripped off and hangs up the phone. WOW!! I actually had to laugh at this guys craziness! Unstable to say the least. I guess he assumed he won my loyalty already and I broke his heart. Anyway, Blue Vision was great, had the replacement parts in the truck and dryer is working great!! FYI: I of course called the other appointment and canceled - There was no cursing and they seemed to understand (American Services = normal response). I assumed Raynor canceled me already, lol (Raynor = CRAZY, VERY CRAZY). Through a follow-up call to Raynor in hope to inform the owner of a loose canon working for his Co, I learned that who called me WAS the owner - WOW AGAIN!!! Our 10 year old refrigerator was too warm, and the freezer was well above the correct level. I called Raynor, and the technician arrived in a short time. He said nothing, but immediately started taking everything out of the freezing compartment, including various parts, and strewing them out on the kitchen floor. In a short while, he told us the heating element needed replacing, said he would order it and return to install it when it arrived. Because the appliance was over 10 years old, I asked the tech his advice about doing the repair or replacing the refrigerator. He told me that the old one was better than any new appliances, so he said we should repair the appliance. The new (?) heating element was installed by the same technician a few days later. I asked if he thought there was anything else that should be checked. He said the element was all that was needed, that the temperatures should return within several hours. The temperatures never changed!!! I then called and told the secretary in the Raynor office that the repair didn't solve our problem and that we decided not to do anything else with the old appliance and would like the cost of the repair ($361.26) refunded. Raynor could have the new heating element back. I was told that they did not want the element, but I would receive a check for the cost of the repair. After three additional calls to the Raynor office, each time with the promise of a check in the mail, I never received the check. Because I had charged the repair to my credit card, I issued a formal complaint to the charge with my card. Three months later, I was told that Raynor refused to refund my card and would not issue me a refund. Needless to say, I would never recommend Raynor to anyone! Karlyn W. read more

I urge you NOT to use this service!! I had a problem with a Miele dishwasher, and Joe (owner/supervisor) came to do the repair. First, he told me that I had to get a contractor to come to my home to "pop" out a 3" wooden piece of molding before he would do the work. He then told me I needed to order a $180.00 piece from Miele. (On top of his $475.00 fee). He came to do the work, and the problem was not resolved. He returned later, and told me that I now needed a new circulatory motor (approx $600.00-$900.00). He also told me that I needed to get a plumber to come to hook the dishwasher drain to the sink. I had a plumber come to the house, and he told me that it was already hooked up the way that Joe had recommended. I called Miele, and they sent a repair person who told me that my only problem was a SIMPLE hose that was clogged, which was causing my problem. Miele repair person popped out the piece of 3" wood, made the repair in 10 minutes at a fraction of the cost ($150.00). I called Joe to tell him, and all that he said, was "have a nice day". I had incurred the cost of a contractor, plumber, and Miele repair pieces which did not have to be purchased - on top of Joe's $475.00 fee!! Miele repairman was a gentleman, courtesy and professional. Joe, owner/supervisor of Raynor was rude, arrogant, and a ripoff. Be aware of this company!!!! read more

Albert repaired the leak from the fridge for my 95 year old mother. He was so nice to her. He even threw away the cardboard we placed under the fridge in an effort to absorb the leaking water. I've waited a little over 3 months to write this review. Just wanted make sure the old, reliable Maytag was properly repaired. And, to date, it looks as though Kevin and his son did what was necessary to get the machine washing again! The Bad: Was the repair pricey? Yes. Was it less expensive than getting a whole new stackable system? Yes. The Good: I called no less than 5 or 6 local repair places. Half never called back. A couple said the parts were impossible to get--unit too old. And another couple of companies promised they'd send someone out and then either never called back to confirm the appointment or never showed up at all. The last one was the final insult as they swore they called to cancel...no, they did not, so I lost another 4 days and my mountain of laundry was growing . I think it was Jackie that I spoke with--there are two very nice and sympathetic women at Raynor. Appointment was made. Problem was assessed. Part was ordered. Kevin returned for the repair and today I''m writing a positive review. Let me save you some time and lots of frustration: Call Raynor first. Or replace the appliance. read more

Contacted Raynor Appliance Service for repair of GE Wall Oven. Was told $165.00 service charge and there would be an additional charge for parts if needed. The ignitor was faulty and replaced. They were in my home 33 minutes and charged me $396.00 including tax. Found out the ignitor cost $25.00..they were certainly not worth $680.00 an hour. .I would never call them again after this. read more

Repairs made in a timely fashion. However my problem is the cost. $125 to diagnose for a service call. Of course if you use them to fix your problem that is subtracted from the final cost. My problem is that once they have that $125 they can charge whatever they want because there is no way you can shop around at this point and subsequently lose your "deposit."
