Rays Food is one of the few smaller grocery stores out there. Support your local grocery store that has to compete against these larger national stores that will gobble up the smaller grocery stores. This is about the deli. My husband got the chicken tenders . Cold hard dry and mostly breading. Shameful. Wish I could give no stars.

This is what happens when a chain store has no competition. Almost everything is over priced. Small Avocados $2 each 6 oz Blueberries 3.99.

Ray's is the only grocery store in Cloverdale, and they know it. Expect each item to be at least $2 overpriced, which adds up quick. Their selection is also rather limited. It's best to save your grocery shopping until you'll be down in Healdsburg or Windsor, etc. read more

My family has shopped at Rays since it first opened 10+ years ago. I KNOW their meat department is a better selection than any chain store. The pricing throughout the store is competitive and getting better. "Sometimes" the produce department can be weak, but for the most part I have been very pleased. The younger staff has not been trained correctly to know to ask customers if they need any assistance. That is the fault of Management alone! It's in town, minimal gas usage , minimal time wasted, supporting Cloverdale businesses, and you can't help but see everyone you know to say hello to. No complaints from me! read more

Went into this shit store tonight and its a dump. Manager has shitty attitude. Food selection shitty. Went to buy some chocolate muffins and each pack had green mold on each and every muffin. 9 packs all molded out. Quality? Lol. More like quality food poisoning! It is so overpriced and the produce is either rotten or pretty much non edible. I bought some coconuts that were putrid and when I returned them one the employees, a male was very rude. I had to ask him if he was selling cars or produce. I was sure it was produce and therefore he know his product and the store should have better quality control. I now go to Ukiah or Windsor to shop. Ray's market in Port Orford. Prices very high, produce looks Ok but rots from inside out in a few days or is "woody". Meat, especially ribs and pork is very fatty and beef not very tasty. They dropped the Western family brand and replaced it with "flavorite" more like flavorless because they make more profit while charging same. Now there is no generic otc medications . They run out of sale items like 7up. GEZZZ. The employees are nice. it's the corporate I dislike, get your act together. It's as expensive as 7/11 read more

Happened to be in the area and decided to pick up a few things at Ray's. This store is absolutely diabolical. Produce is Whole Foods priced with Dollar Tree quality. Store shelves were faced out to make the appearance of being full, but they were out of a few things here and there. Meat Dept was pricey but at least there appeared to be a few quality cuts. As someone mentioned before, this stores layout is anything but intuitive. But for dealing with that, you can find some oddball hardware pieces and clothing. Last but not least..., It's not even January yet and Valentines junk was coming out in full swing! Ugghh! read more

I just moved to Cloverdale and am extremely disappointed that this is the only grocery store in town. I tend to shop on the organic healthy side and the selection of those items are slim...not to mention it cost me $70 to make tacos the other night! I happily drive out of my way 20 min away to Windsor to do my weekly shopping.. I hate having to do it but its worth spending almost half as much for a better selection... Buyer Beware. The Ray's Food Place in Cloverdale CA is in the process of a minor remodel secondary to an influx of competition. The store has gone from mediocre to bad. There is a new floor, and merchandise has been move from one isle to another, but the the qualitiy control and freshness of groceries, especially of produce, has diminished. That's not to mention that the prices are "conveinience store" high, even on spoiled merchandise. Pretty much, any alternative is better....any alternative. The saddest thing is they are, so far, the only full service grocery in town. read more

ALWAYS CHECK THE EXPIRATION!! And also every time I walk in a lot of the staff look like they're not pleased to be working there.

I worked in the Bakery/Deli department a few years ago and was appalled by the lack of cleanliness. I worked for Raley's before Ray's and was used to their perfect standard of cleanliness and heavy use of sanitizer. Ray's food place would use outdated meats in the deli sandwiches, use outdated chicken in the chicken salad and on numerous times had told friends not to buy something that week because it was old. The workers did not properly wash their hands, or use sanitizer. Most of the time they would change the sanitizer in the buckets because the flies got to be too numerous. I was personally told to pick out the fruit flies out of the olives, and to sell almost rotten meat., that actually smelled. I was surprised the Health Department didn't close them down. I'm gonna make this short. There were worms in the packaging of Linguica sausage. This place has no standards and no competition. This store is a disgusting waste of space. Sugar coat all you want, but this place should most likely be replaced. read more
