Angela's Organic Ice Cream has many locations throughout California, and I'd imagine that the ice cream is good at all of them. When she tried the door and realized it was closed, she completely broke down full-on tears, heartbroken. Out of nowhere, a kind gentleman came to the door, saw what was happening, and invited us in. Even though they were closed, he offered her some yogurt and instantly turned her entire night around. What could have been a disappointing end to her birthday became one of the most memorable moments, all because of their kindness and willingness to go above and beyond. This is what true hospitality looks like. Thank you for making our little girl's birthday so special we'll never forget it.

They had such great reviews, we decided to stop by to give it a try. We got a box of 20ish and brought it back to the fam -- we were sold. Everything was delicious. We ordered a couple of platters with a smorgasbord of amazing flavors. People loved it. We loved it. They have interesting flavors and choices for those with dietary restrictions, so that everyone could enjoy. We left paper bags out for people to take some home. My favorite flavor is probably the Peanut Butter and the Lemon Moon... but honestly, all of it is good. Never had a bad cookie from here. We ended up moving into the neighborhood a couple of years ago, and so we love coming here for an occasional treat and it always makes a great gift -- especially when you need to get a gift and don't know them well. Who doesn't love cookies?!? Also what's great: their pricing is reasonable. With everything so expensive nowadays, it's nice to get something high quality and priced reasonably. I learned so much! We also got to go in the back and watch their processes for their different kinds of chocolate (from lighter to darker), and got to taste them once we learned what made the flavors similarly lighter or more robust. The owners could not have been nicer. A really fun and interesting activity -- and if you aren't interested in learning stuff, then just do yourself a favor and go by to buy yourself some of their chocolate. You won't be sorry!

We've had the banana chocolate chip, the strawberry cookies and cream and the regular cookies and cream and it's all been good. The fruit ice creams taste of real fruit... not too surprising given the name of the place. The strawberry has been intensely strawberry, and the banana intensely banana. No artificial flavors here. The cookies and cream portion has huge chunks of cookies, and taste how you want it to. You can just tell whoever is making this ice cream, they care. They want it to taste great. You can tell that they were making their own ice cream before they had their own shop, and want to share their joy with the world without skimping on the ingredients. I don't know if that's their story, but that's how it tastes. Our barely two year old niece of course loves it here. She's so cute, trying to say hi to the woman behind the counter after she tastes the ice cream. Very smart to make friends with the ice-cream lady. :) Can't wait to try more flavors and perhaps some of their other stuff on the menu.

I said to my husband, I'd really like to go to Salt & Straw this weekend. He said he heard me, but he got lazy and we ended up at a Yogurt Time instead. For anyone who has been to Yogurt Time, and Salt & Straw, you know that Yogurt Time is not a substitute for Salt & Straw. It could be a bandaid. A really cheap, generic brand one. Not even the Band-aid brand, but the CVS brand. And to him, he didn't think anything of it. But I, of course, thought otherwise. I wondered: What ever happened to going to Salt & Straw? Why did we get Yogurt Time, as if it's the same thing?! When there is no comparison what-so-ever. I didn't want to nag. And I realized: Why am I waiting for him to take me to Salt & Straw? I'm a grown-a&* empowered woman. I can take my own self to Salt & Straw whenever I want. And that, I did. I got the Coffee and Love Nuts (my first time with this flavor). And holy heck was that good. That night, I told my husband about my treat. I even took a picture to show him the deliciousness that was Coffee & Love Nuts. (See attached) "Why did you go to Salt & Straw with out me????" He asks I recounted the Yogurt Time. Of course he tried to defend himself. The next day, he asks me "Do you want to go to Salt & Straw?" Not because I wanted it but because now he is craving it too. We went and he got the Coffee & Love Nuts and the Gooey Brownie one. We went again, the next week. And the next week. And so on. I know, some may call this manipulation. But sometimes guys just don't know what they're missing until you go to some other Love Nut. (Just saying.. lol) Anyhow... Salt & Straw... OG from Portland. Such high quality ice cream known for their strange flavors. I will have to admit, the strange flavors can be hit or miss. So please sample before getting. I love their creativity. I love their quality. I love that they're not Yogurt Time. Hey, Yogurt Time has its time and place. But Salt & Straw? Whole other universe. Peace out.

We've since ordered picked up, gotten delivery, it just scratches an itch and flavors shift often. Some of our favorites so far have been the strawberry honey balsalmic, honey lavender, coffee & love nuts, and the sea salt caramel. A great discovery for the area, we'll certainly keep trying more flavors.
