Week #3 of the Sonoma County stay at home order. I'm running out of interesting things to eat at home, especially fresh produce. Since real estate mogul Barbara S. and I up here in Cloverdale to prepare a house for sale, let's do our food shopping. I love the quirky Grocery Outlet in Santa Rosa. This is my first visit to the Cloverdale store. It's neat and clean outside and inside. It feels a little less cluttered than the Santa Rosa store. Most certainly on this Monday afternoon there are hardly any other shoppers (Cloverdale is a small town). Food shopping during this life changing virus era is one of the few public pleasures left to us, so we are happy to indulge in some retail therapy. There are most of the same items as the Santa Rosa store, but after a few minutes I woefully discover that the rather off kilter left field items that are in Santa Rosa are not here. Like the $4 jar of Icelandic caviar or the British Kippers or the weird imported Italian pastas and many other goofy items. This store has much less wine selection than Santa Rosa; the beer selection is pretty sparse. (I end up selecting a 6 pack of Modelo). Barbara and me go slow and cruise each aisle looking for potential meal items that will spark the imagination and tease the palate. We get the main items we intended (Fruits / vegetables / meats - All look fresh and crisp) and much more. We do fill up the shopping cart. At check out the damage amounts to 7 big brimming bags, $200 of goodies. The same mass quantity at Oliver's or Whole Foods would have cost $430. Though this Grocery Outlet did not intrigue me like the Santa Rosa store, I love it still. Count your lucky stars Cloverdale residents. This store is a much more interesting supermarket than the Ray's IGA across the street. read more

Wife and settled for their rotisserie chicken. She came home with this old dry chicken that we only ate half , before tummy aches thru the night. Never will we buy their chicken ever again read more

Great prices and quality merchandise. You can't find everything there, but if you can be flexible with your menu planning, you'll save a lot of money. Hint: if you see something you like a lot, buy it because it may not be on the shelf next time you shop there. read more

Went to check out and an Item that I put 7 of in my cart came up double the price of what was posted on the shelf, When I brought this to the attention of the cashier, I was told they can't sell it to me for the posted price on the shelf. After the other cashier rudely interacted, I just left everything on the belt and left. I'm not exaggerating when I say that when Grocery Outlet came to Cloverdale, it noticeably improved my life (yes, I am that easy to please that a new grocery store makes me happier). I love coming here: 1. It is so clean and well organized. I've heard tell of other locations that are disaster areas, but not this one! It is pleasant and convenient to come here. 2. I look forward to finding great deals on food that I can freeze or make that day if it expires in a day or two. Even if it's not expiring in a day or two (most items aren't that close to their expiration, but the best deals are), they still have great deals on all items. Be careful though! Check the expiration dates. Very few people need a gallon of mayo that expires in 3 days (true story - my partner's parents had this misfortune at a Lake County location) 3. I love that no matter what, they carry staples like milk and eggs. I can't always find /everything/ I need, but I can usually find almost everything or a substitute. You have to come here with appropriate expectations - sometimes you can't make this your one-stop shop if you are particular about needing specific items or brands. You can always try that grocery-store-across-the-way-that-must-not-be-named if you can't find something here that you need. 4. It is CHEAP! Something us Cloverdaleans (is that even a word - what do they call us?) had to travel to Santa Rosa for previously. A tip if you aren't familiar with Grocery Outlets is never assume that an item will always or never be there. One day you'll look for whole oats and they won't have them, the next day and they will. Then they'll go out for a while. They ONLY carry things that are good deals. You have to check back. read more

This is a great grocery store with lots of organic choices. The owner takes an interest in the community's needs. The workers are always pleasant and helpful! I rarely have to go to "the other grocery store." read more

I was very happy when the G O opened here in Cloverdale! The store is always very clean, the customer service is great and the employees that work there are always very nice and pleasant to me. My son-in-law purchased two packages of lamb chops that were not out of date. One package was $14.28 the other package was $12.96. When he open the package there was a very bad odor and he was concerned about cooking them so I said that I would return them to the store they were purchased at . I drove up from Healdsburg to Cloverdale, to exchange them for two other packages. When I looked at the packages in the meat department they were the same dates as the two packages I was returning, and the plastic had lifted so again I was concerned about food poisoning. I had asked a so-called manager to come back and take a look. She asked if I had a receipt which I did not, and would not make an exchange of Any kind without a receipt. She left me standing there so I pulled off all of the lamb chop packages and put them on a checkout counter with my two opened packages. She refused to give me her name and said she was a manager. I called Troy Bass the manager of the store to try to rectify what happened. He was extremely rude to me, told me that no refunds were made because of Covid which is incorrect, I called the health department and ask them and that is not true. My son-in-law and daughter who spent $1200 a month in his store will be spending it in the Santa Rosa store from now on. Troy, customer is king and you obviously haven't learned that yet.. you have a beautiful store but you're not running it right .. shame on you! read more

The last 3 weeks ive bought Franco American garlic bread every week, and the next day its all moldy. After the 1st time this happened i got smart and opened it up to make sure it was fine, and it was all 3 times ive checked and this has happend. It happened again yesterday, i opened it up today and it was super moldy on both sides. I love this bread but ive wasted too much money on getting it from grocery outlet :-( read more

up until recently I haven't had issues with grocery outle. there is a cashier there who seems to have an attitude proble. she has blonde hair, bangs and glasses. she will interact with every other customer but when I come to the register, she gets completely silent and does not look at me. either she needs to work on that or be let go read more

This morning I was approached by the owner Troy and a manager that I was no longer welcome in the store for the fact I did not agree with their return policy. I attempted to return out dated dairy (heavy whipping cream) I did not have my receipt. So I went home brought my receipt I was given a refund. Now I have been told I was not welcome. As we know there are many items out dated, yes as I'm in the store as I'm attempting to purchase a item if it is out dated I bring it to the cashier to let them know. Troy informed me this was none of my business to point out. I realize we are all going through a difficult time, but this doesn't justify selling out dated products hoping the person threw away their receipt so they are not allowed a refund or return. Security needs to get better at their job, he followed us around and was very obvious . We've spent a lot of money at grocery outlet and are very insulted. Also when checking out the cashier didn't say hello , goodbye or even smile at us. Disappointing read more

I don't want to get anybody in trouble but I do want to give my review. The prices and selection are really great in my store. My problem is with the checkout. The cashier "throws" everything in the bag. She put my asparagus in the bottom of the bag and then threw in the eggs, wine and meat. On top of the chips she put in the frozen veggies and sodas. I started to bag my own things just so it wouldn't be crushed. My avocados weren;t ripe but they would have been crushed too. read more

I just tried to exchange a bottle of wine for a bottle of equal price. Another bottle I bought of this same brand was undrinkable. I didn't have my receipt and out of nowhere some guy who claims he was the owner kicked me out of the store and tried to keep the bottle of wine I wanted to exchange. He then came out and filmed me drive away and said he was calling the cops. I wasn't asking for money, I just wanted to exchange it for something of equal price that I know is decent. A day earlier I asked for a box since I was buying 8 bottles and he copped an attitude with me saying the checker would determine if I needed a box or not at checkout time. Take your meds dude, you shouldn't be running loose in society. In a straight jacket maybe. The guy is a complete dick, if he is the owner the place will go bankrupt very soon. read more

Nice people, and such a relief to have any alternate to the lousy grocery store across the street. Grocery Outlet is awesome. This one is smaller than others I've been too, and the selection is a bit random, but things are way better than when they first opened. Great addition to Cloverdale. read more

Should be called Gross Outlet, lol. This chain operates as independently owned meaning each store operates under their own sets of rules and guidelines. Customer service has been rude bordering on obnoxious. With a plethora of other choices, I won't be returning to this store. I'll no longer have to worry about expiration dates or unfriendly staff!! read more

I was impatiently waiting for the opening of this place! It is kinda small and I still have to run out to Costco, I'm still glad we got this store in cloverdale and it's only a 3 min walk for me. It's nice to pick up a few things, they are very limited with the amount of stuff they carry but it's good enough for me ! read more

Very clean, well lit, great brand offerings at unbelievable prices. Excellent customer service as well. Have already returned seven times in two weeks, making it a main grocery stop. So happy to have a Grocery Outlet nearby! read more
