The pump touch screens, electronics, and pay-by-phone devices work most of the time without problems. The nicest thing about RaceTrac is the coffee! They have machines that grind on demand and so the coffee is always fresh. There are several different flavors/varieties and all are pretty good (even the decaf is decent). The store is clean and well kept. The bathrooms are better than average as convenience store restrooms go. If you go to RaceTrac regularly, download their app and sign up for the Rewards program. It gets busy and the pumps and parking fill up at peak times but it turns over quickly so you never have to wait too long. Being so near to I-10 there are often some vagrants and panhandlers around but they have never been aggressive or scary. The staff are quick and efficient so the check-out line moves quickly. They have new Self-Checkout machines that seem to work well. The gas pumps are clean and in good working order. Kicking a customer out of your store, because they are sharing their knowledge with YOU about religion is not appropriate, especially if they have befriended you, they are 45 years your senior, they have incurable stage 4 cancer and you know they have a good heart even towards other customers. I did some searches, found this place on Google, and decided to give them a shot. I was ordering for multiple people, so I ended up getting 2 po-boys, a falafel wrap, and baklava. One of the people who got a po-boy said it wasn't regular mayo on the po-boy, but rather either tahini or tzatziki. Now mind you, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but could be jarring for someone not expecting it. The falafel and baklava were mine. I thought that the falafel wrap was good: flavorful and saucy. It was a bit messy, but I seem to always make a mess when eating falafel sandwiches. I was excited about the baklava, but unfortunately it wasn't very good. Maybe it had been sitting for a while, I don't know, but the flaky pastry had lost some of its flakiness/crispiness and had become a bit chewy instead. One odd thing is that you get your food bagged at the checkout counter, which is separate from the food counter. This doesn't sound bad in theory, but meant I ended up carefully holding 3 hot sandwiches, a small takeout container, and a menu while waiting in line at the checkout counter. The man at the register was very friendly though, and recommended their chicken shawarma; I'll have to try that at some point. It bears mentioning that along with food and typical convenience store items, this place also has a meat counter/market. They sell things like raw steaks, ground meat, turkey wings, pork necks, chicken drumsticks, sausage, etc.
