Can't believe I've been missing out on this place. Stopped in this past Saturday & let's just say this won't be my last visit! It was very busy when I arrived at about 11 a.m. It's a very small family style spot. There was maybe a 5 minute wait to be seated. Patrons seated inside offered for us to use their half or the table. The menu is pretty big. I ordered the pancake breakfast which came with three pancakes, eggs, & a meat. The pancakes were delicious. Melt in your mouth & super fluffy. The grilled chicken breast was good & juicy. The home fries were delicious. The server was very nice & attentive. Can't wait to stop back & try more of the menu. read more

Ate here on a mid-morning Thursday while trekking to MS. Found a spot to park in the crowded lot and were seated promptly. Kind of tight seating inside, but somehow it wasn't uncomfortable. Definitely a favorite of locals. The place runs like a machine! Our orders were taken - drinks and all at the same time at our request. Husband's country fried steak breakfast with hashbrowns and toast and my veggie omelet with biscuit (for which they are touted) was delivered surprisingly quickly for as busy as they were. Pricing is VERY affordable and portions are just right. If only it was closer... The only problem we had was my biscuit was "crumbly" (see picture). When I attempted to open it to apply butter and jelly, it fell apart. My husband said it was the kind of biscuit, that that was normal, which made no sense to me. Why would you serve "crumbly" biscuits with butter and jelly on the table? It took our server a minute to circle back around, and I told her I would just like the biscuit taken off the check. Instead she delivered a fresh biscuit that didn't crumble, and the bill remained the same. I have no qualms with this - it was a great biscuit! Too bad the first one ever came out... They serve a good breakfast at a good price and they get the food out fairly quickly considering how busy they always are. Their lunches are just mediocre. The problem with the place is most of their employees are miserable. The waitress Julie is the only one that greets me and is usually smiling. The other waitress never looks happy and the busgirl/cashier is downright rude. I'm gonna give them three stars because of Julie and because breakfast is reasonable and good, but can't do any because of the terrible attitude of the rest of the staff. read more

My favorite is breakfast hands down, but today I tried the lunch. Forgot to take a pix of the hot sausage on bun. It was just okay bc the pattie was FLAT FLAT and I like mine with still a little ump... My husband had the shrimp, expressed it was good. Realized it's been several years since I reviewed Good Eats and figure it's time to reinforce my rating because they're still amazing. We go regularly and it never disappoints. The grits have moved up to first place on the Northshore for me. Literally everything we try is delicious. Please try the home fries, I legit think about them randomly sometimes because they're so dang good. The servers are always sweet and attentive, no matter how packed they are. We're actually moving to New Orleans recently and we've already decided that we'll hit up Good Eats when coming up to visit family every couple of weeks, because a life without Good Eats at all just doesn't seem right. It feels weird to get so attached to a restaurant, but this is one of those true home town diners, hole-in-the-wall type places that is a staple of the community. This is the kind of place people need to be supporting, the antithesis to chains in all the best ways. Very glad to be able to still say such fantastic things about Good Eats. Always order to-go because it very small and always packed. EVERY SINGLE TIME i come in, im never acknowledged and i workers seemed to be annoyed when i ask about my order after waiting close to an hour. Very slow on the weekends. Food is good but service is lacking. Others seem to have a better experience when dining in. read more

Found this little place by accident. It looks like a little run down shack that no one would want to eat there. Now for some good news. This place is really really awesome. The food is really amazing and some of the best we have had in a long long time. The prices are amazing. I swear, I thought it was the early 2000. The service was fast and the tables were close together. So this made it feel really homey and family friendly. All I really know is that I will always eat here when in the area. read more

My friends have been talking about this place for a while and I finally set up a time to meet them there for breakfast and I have to say - I'm really glad I did. S & H is a small diner that packs a big punch when it comes to delivering the goods. Friendly service, good southern cooking and prices that easy on the wallet. I ordered the #1 and had eggs over medium cooked just right, extra crispy hash browns and they were perfectly done, generous serving of bacon, an extra side of hot sausage, and a biscuit. I don't know what the rest of the menu is like but I'm definitely coming back to find out! Great find! read more

This is a Hidden Gem! A small mom and Pop place that has quick service, friendly, clean atmosphere stays packed so you know the foods good people keep returning day after day. My friend is a waffle house regular and he thinks this beats waffle house hands-down. I have to agree not only the atmosphere is better the food taste much better and it's not very expensive. Looking for a good place for lunch while out of town and boy, did we find it!! This little place reminded me of some of the restaurants in Maine that are off the beaten track...great home cooking made with love and skill. Found a hidden Gem. On of the best places in Slidell to eat. Found it about a year and a half ago and have never been disappointed. You may have to wait for a table but it will be worth it. Small and local with best prices for what you get. During the week there is One waitress Donna and she runs the place like three servers. She remembers you order if you are regular. Tall Slender girl is the best cook they have and deserts have been on point every time. I tell everyone I know about it but sometimes the old folks like to hang out and chit chat while others are waiting. But all in all a great place to eat. read more

Just like the prior reviews and photos this place seems like a hole in the wall not sure it'll be worth it. We'll definitely worth it. It's straight up home cooking from a kitchen filled with love. I had the #2 (country fried steak) the breading just awesome, the steak tasty and tender. I honestly had no complaints. Even the coffee was good not watered down. Even at the take out crew nails it every single time. During a recent visit, the team exceeded my expectations by providing several complimentary items, including chips, guacamole, queso, and salsa, without me even asking. Furthermore, the drinks are fantastic--thanks in part to your highly experienced bartender--and the 2-for-1 specials make the experience very affordable. As a veteran who served eight years, I also truly appreciate the military discount you offer. I should note tho both the sausage and the chicken eggs Benedict are served on their homemade grilled biscuits with the traditional southern white sausage gravy instead of hollandaise sauce which was a delicious touch and compliments the flavors. The crab cake eggs Benedict was served with the original hollandaise sauce and it was delicious... the crab cakes eggs Benedict is served over a layer of shredded hash-browns that I feel could have been cooked a little more crispy and the crab cake could have been cooked more crispy with less stuffing more crabmeat added especially since the crab cake and/or the hash-browns were serving as the English muffin part of traditional eggs Benedict. Don't get me wrong WE LOVE THIS PLACE .... It is a hidden gem and will be regulars. EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS!!!! Well worth the trip. After about 15 minutes, I walked to the waitress station and politely asked for a menu; the response was an eye roll with menus "shoved" at me in an aggravated manner. Regardless, I thanked her. Soon, the same young waitresscame over and took our drink orders (waters) nicely, but then she left the back room where we were seated and did not return! Whaa? I never saw her again, so we have it another 15 min and gave up. We looked for our angry waitress as we walked through to leave hoping she, or anyone, might notice we were leaving, but nothing. The restaurant was crowded and diners seemed happy enough so perhaps we simply got the wrong person in the wrong moments. However, since I'm from out-of-state, this is the impression I will forever have of La Pines Cafe.

We finished with a strawberry cake and lemon cake. Both were very good, but we really wanted the banana bread pudding which they unfortunately were out of. Overall, I would highly recommend Audibert's Bistreaux and I can't wait to go back.
