We were impressed at first, being we purchased one of the first premier new homes by Hilliard in the Highlands on Bay Ave. However, if you are a buyer of any new Hilliard construction home, beware. No customer service. We have had a work list for over a year of concerns and promised would be address, we have been ignored. The owner "I am always around town" is never to be seen now, just his workers whom are very good and nice guys. Hilliard will promise you the moon and show concern, once monies pass hands seems done deal. Hilliard has had many land use issues in Highlands NJ. Before the bottom fell out, we referred Hilliard to friends for a new home purchase which the friends did purchase. They had to back out of deal because of non compliance of land use requirement, months later. They were virtual homeless for months. Hilliard showed no urgency to resolve which made us look foolish. Now we have to deal with our issues on our own as well as having an AC unit parallel to our patio deck. Very disappointed and quite bothered. We paid a "high price" for the house with no mortgage. Lesson: hold onto your escrow account till all is done to your satisfaction before releasing.

He came out again to our house after we determined that we wanted his company to perform the work. We fine-tuned exactly what we wanted and set up a tentative date to begin work. After we got our items, we confirmed the start date. Stephen and Michael arrived promptly on the day work was scheduled to begin and demoed the bathroom. They arrived every morning at the same time and worked a full day and I'm not sure they even took breaks. They completely cleaned up at the end of each day and sectioned off the work area to minimize the dust throughout the house. The bathroom remodel was expertly performed and came out exactly as we had envisioned. I highly recommend Katamount Construction. During the tenancy, significant damage occurred to my home that I was never informed about. After regaining possession, I discovered extensive drywall damage from holes punched through multiple rooms, broken windows, missing interior doors, damaged lighting, missing blinds, debris left in the garage, and serious landscaping neglect. I was also later informed that police had been called to the property during the tenancy, yet none of this was disclosed to me. The home was returned in a condition that required immediate and costly repairs just to make it habitable again. In addition, contractors arranged through the management company were unresponsive and completed at least one major repair incorrectly, requiring city involvement to resolve. A property manager's role is to protect the owner's asset through proper inspections, reporting, and oversight. That did not happen here. Based on my experience, I would caution other property owners to ask very specific questions about inspection practices, communication, and contractor accountability before entrusting their home to this company.

When their sales person showed up it became quickly obvious that he was there to sell a job regardless of any evidence of mold or not. After his visit he happily provided a nearly $5,000 estimate to the purchasers for remediation and other non-related work without doing any testing, sampling, swabbing, etc. Nor was there any mention in his report of whether mold existed or not. In my opinion this was nothing more than an effort to create work for themselves. Knowing this, I brought in Randy from MMRG Mold Remediation in Ocean Township who confirmed that mold did not exist and that no remediation work was needed. Randy was a true professional with real knowledge and was able to put out the potential fire that 2 River Group unnecessarily created.
