I needed to make a name change as she remarried . I was told I had to drive to Houston (3 hours away) to make my mother's name change, and bring her marriage license and her financial power of attorney as I had to start managing finances. In Houston 1 person was in the office. I gave him all the documents , he photocopied them but seemed a bit distracted talking to someone who was not a client and came to visit. He gave us a paper that needed to be notarized and gave us directions for a mailing, packaging center that had a notary public. I asked wasn't this something that could be done in office. He said it was a Friday and he was the only one in that day and was not a notary, which Schwab should have taken the time to make him one if he was going to be alone in the office . The office was very large so I can't imagine everyone took the day off at the same time but yes they did. Later on I sold shares and asked for the check to be mailed as I could not transfer it to her bank as it was not listed as a choice. No representative could figure out why OR talked to any supervisor to have their IT people look into it. I needed the money to pay her rent, a representative told me he could overnight the check even though it was a Friday. The next day check did not arrive, Monday it did not arrive. Finally Tuesday it arrived but with the wrong name ( we did make the name change). Of course the bank would not accept the check as her first name was the only match to her account. When I called the representative number they did not have the necessary paperwork for the name change... thanks Houston office that's why I drove 3 hours. I mailed in the information ( again) and turn around was 14 days. By that time I took money out of my personal account to cover her rent. The rep told me they would put a stop payment on the check with the wrong name. I went into the office thinking in person would help with this transaction. The man who assisted me was very courteous but said the amount he saw in the computer was not the same i quoted as her available monies for withdrawal. He said it showed money was taken out, the exact same amount as the wrong name check with the stop payment I received. I told him there was a stop payment which he did not see because the previous rep did not enter the phone call details I imagine.Luckily the check was in my wallet to show it had never been cashed otherwise she would have been out of $7,000 dollars. This front desk gentleman told me he could do a wire transfer which I agreed to. He kept telling me he wasn't familiar with the form and possibly it was not the correct form to use and wasn't sure if the transaction would go through. Again no one in the office to assist him with this question. At this time I felt this was a ploy from Schwab to keep me from getting the money for my mother, because so many wrong answers , poor attention to detail, personnel not knowing the correct form to use .. it was so frustrating!!! I did finally transfer money into another bank account of hers that was listed in the site . The rest Of her money still is in Charles Schwab because now I will just transfer it into another bank account then transfer again into the correct bank. So it seems everything is fine until you want to sell shares and get money.

On a positive note, the team was very responsive prior to move-in, answering phone calls and text messages in a timely manner. Unfortunately, that level of service dropped significantly once I was in the home. Post-move-in communication was exceptionally poor. I often had to call multiple times without receiving a response, despite the company expecting immediate replies whenever they reached out to me. We also experienced recurring issues with the home's water heater, losing hot water on at least three separate occasions. When we submitted maintenance requests, we were advised to turn up the temperature on the unit. While this provided a temporary fix, the underlying issue kept happening. It was only after sending a stern email and copying the property manager that the problem was finally addressed properly. To make matters worse, upon move-out, we were improperly charged a cleaning fee despite having hired professional cleaners and submitting the receipts directly to Joshua Garza. Joshua was unresponsive regarding the charge, and even after CCing Melisa Day, I still received no reply or resolution to this day. The lack of accountability and communication has been extremely frustrating. If you want to avoid a headache, I recommend to NOT lease through this company.

From the day we moved in, our experience has been disappointing. We've submitted multiple maintenance requests that have either gone unanswered or been marked as completed without anyone ever coming to our home. One of the most concerning issues is a large hole our neighbor's dog dug under the fence, allowing it access to our backyard. I was told they would "look into it, and call me back" but I never received a follow-up. Despite multiple calls, voicemails, and an online work order, the issue remains unresolved weeks later. We also reported an unbalanced ceiling fan that appears unsafe to use. After waiting over two months, I received a notification stating the repair had been completed, even though no one ever came to inspect or fix it. Communication has been extremely poor. Calls are rarely returned, voicemails go unanswered, and it feels nearly impossible to get a response from maintenance, the tenant coordinator, or Property Manager Melisa Day. Another frustration is that because these are new construction townhomes, tenants are expected to coordinate directly with vendors for certain repairs. That responsibility should fall on property management, not the tenant. To make matters worse, there is a significant gnat infestation. Despite paying for private pest control every two months and purchasing Zevo traps at my own expense, the problem persists. After speaking with several neighbors, I learned this is a community-wide issue. My experience has left me feeling that once the lease is signed, tenant concerns are no longer a priority. If you are considering renting here, I encourage you to carefully research the property before making your decision. ( we are very clean people three of those zevos have been there for 5 days, one I just changed yesterday.)

They have been very responsive to onboarding questions and have made the legal paperwork very easy while dotting every i, and crossing every t. I will tell you that about three months ago while deciding which mortgage servicer we would go with that could service Florida, Covey was in the lead from the beginning w/their promptness in getting back with us when we had email Qs, and had a live knowledgeable person available to answer Qs via phone. Another company, based in California never had a live person who could take a call to answer a Q, and email replies were not timely. We are new to the owner-financing business, and this experience has been hassle-free. Next month we plan on using Covey Financial for another property. I will be updating this early next year as tax season approaches, but so far, so good.

I contacted Covey Financial at the beginning because I was experiencing a financial hardship, and I specifically asked about my upcoming August mortgage payment while my request was being reviewed. Unfortunately, the information I received initially did not clearly explain that I would still be required to make the August payment to avoid late fees. I had to follow up again and specifically ask about the payment before I was finally told that I needed to make it. Because of the lack of communication, I was put in a difficult position and ultimately had to make the payment to avoid a late fee while waiting for my hardship request to be reviewed. My concern is not that the review process takes time. I understand that these requests can take time. My concern is that important information about my payment obligation should have been clearly communicated when I first asked. Covey Financial needs to have a clearer hardship policy and better communication with customers. When someone reaches out for assistance during a financial hardship, customers deserve clear information about what they are expected to do while their request is being reviewed. I hope the company improves its communication and processes so other customers don't have to go through the same experience.
